Change the drums to discs when you have spare cash later on down the track. The disc rear end is way better than the drums and is bolt-in. The auto sparky sounds like he's just afraid of what he doesn't know. e30's have pretty straightforward electrics. I would go to someone who knows waht they are doing if you have someone who is unsure put your alarm in and they don't fix other electrical niggles, you may have problems with your alarm down the track as it is wired into interior lights, locks, ignition, etc. I think you're on the right track with the door lock.

Firstly that b23 is cheap. Second, sounds like blown headgasket - white smoke, low comp on 2 adjoining cylinders. Also may be some valve seals (oil in intake manifold) I would get the head off, do the gasket and inspect the valve guide seals at the same time and hope it's not piston rings. Will set you back a few hundy, but these things happen. Brakes and hunting have been covered. Check the cambelt and have that and the waterpump replaced when you remove the head for piece of mind. The last guy I advised to do that didn't and spent the money on a big bore for his 323i. 2 weeks later the belt snapped.

Looks good in the rain. There's a strong Christchurch contingent from bimmersport, so you'll probably see a few cars around down there.

Only going on what I was told. If its a 320i its impressive. Edited topic title.

That's entirely up to you. Posted it purely out of interest. Feel free to comment either way. That's what a public forum is for. Some people will think he's a dickhead. Others will think its cool. Feel free to voice your opinion. Personally I just thought it was funny that he was proud enough of it to hang it on his noticeboard, and then leave it up for 6 months.

Oh I know who it was. Other than their name being at the top of the ticket, it was the drivers going away party. Moving to Aussie to terrorise their streets.

Was at a party on Saturday, and this was proudly displayed on the flat noticeboard. Infringement notice from earlier this year. 194km/h in a 100 zone. Apparently was an e36 328i, and driver is currently serving a 9 month disqualification and paid a fine of around $1000. Sorry about the out of focus shots. Cellphone camera, low light, half-cut operator.

Also forgot - under the Tools>options>Privacy in Firefox - check the clear private data settings are not clearing cookies. It may pay to set it to clear cookies, click "clear Now...", remove setting to clear cookies and then close firefox, open and logon to bimmersport so the cookie is reset.

Constant by the look of them. Lowest suspension component was 110-115mm off the ground so perfectly legal. They've been around... Were on Gus's first motorsport, then on my blue 320, then on my black 325, then been in the shed for awhile on hold for my g/f who no longer has an e30 hence for sale.

Not sure of brand, but genuine lowering springs for e30 with a big 45-50mm drop. $150 plus freight. Pic of springs installed below. Thanks Hybrid for the pic.

Likely a cookie issue. If you are using firefox check under Tools>options>Privacy and see what your cookie settings are. Accept cookies and set them to delete when they expire. In IE check Cookie settings under Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Advanced Post back how you get on. Also if you are using any type of automated cleaner on startup or regularly (such as Ccleaner) make sure you move the bimmersport cookies to the exclusion list.

I screw my amp to the firewall between the boot and back seat, and then build my sob box to fit in front of it. Hides the amp, secure, and best place for sub in sedan IMO. My current install is a huge affair - was an experiment in box design. Planning to rip it all out soon and build a much more compact arrangement. Once I hung the amp from the underneath of the parcel try on a perspex shelf. Looked cool, but took alot more work than screwing it to the firewall.

You have an e28 right? so not much plastic going on in there. Best to start with a steam clean if you can get hold of a steam cleaner. Everything gets wet but if you avoid the fuse box, relays, coil, etc then you'll be right. You can even use some detergent to help move stubborn grease. When done, get your air compressor out and use a straight air gun to blow dry everything paying extra attention to around sparkplugs etc. Car should start up just fine. Will and I have done it a least a dozen times to various bmws with no ill effects. Then you can get in with a rag, toothbrush etc (and your polishing tool if your dead keen on using it and get into all the nooks and crannies. Kerosene dissolves oil fast if soap and water isn't strong enough. Wash the kerosene off with soap and water or simply wipe with a rag and leave a protective film of kero (it'll either prevent rust spots, or attract dust so its a gamble). The use silicon spray around plastics and rubbers to get them to shine. it to can attract dust though. If you have the silicon spray you could spray around all your plugs before you steam clean for extra insurance. Its slow work, but can transform an engine bay.

Never had a problem - do you guys have software automatically cleaning out your cookies? What browser are you using. I'm using Firefox 3.0.1.

Have an m20b20 out of a 1991 320i. Has done about 200,000kms - will get odo reading tonight. Cambelt was done less than 12months and less than 5000kms ago. Had recent oil service. Motor was running very strong before accident with no smoke, overheating issues or unwanted noises. Car was involved in a frontal, so motor is complete except for the following: Airbox Loom (can provide if required, but still on car) Cambelt cover and distributor. Cambelt not damaged in accident. Fan Waterpump Sump is cracked Cast fitting for water hose on back of head is cracked. Brackets for powersteer and alternator broken Was auto, so no flywheel. Gearbox sold. Offers.

New Headunit = Flat Battery ???
bravo replied to Matasorapit's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Does it switch off when you turn the key off?? If not maybe they wired constant power to the ignition 12v input. The head unit has 2 power sources - a constant 12v straight off the battery for keeping your radio stations and clock going, etc, and supplying the main current feed when the ignition is on and a switched 12v supply from the ignition which tells it to turn on etc. If they wired both feeds as constant feeds, the unit won't switch off with the ignition and will drain power. -
Kept in the family. nice! 3 bimmersport owners in a row.

Hot. I might be the only one to think this, but I wish it were a sedan.

I'd say yes as Ireland Engineering sell one bar for both vehicles. Quote from their website: Ireland Engineering

NZ Herald Story I'm not armed with facts, so this is just a personal conspiracy theory, but don't you find it interesting that when petrol prices were at their peak the government were all guns blazing about their inquiry - that they were going to get to the bottom of the fuel price problem, that they were after answers, and by god they were going to get them. At the time many a spokesperson from the industry and interested groups said it was a waste of time, that they would find out nothing except that things were pretty much the best that could be expected. Now the report is being released saying exactly that - timed precisely when petrol is at the lowest its been for awhile. Coincidence? Yeah right.
