There's a place next to Bindons on Water St that often has an e30 race-series car parked outside. I don't know how good they are or what they charge, but you could go and talk to them.
-
Not just that - just looked out the window - its been moved. Same wheels, colour and model as Boost junky, but ///M badge on the back, and 1990. His is '88 I think.
-
Haha - just carfaxed it to be nosey - expired WOF, and some dodgy odo readings. Parking warden is running around today. if its yours, you might want to move it.

Saw this parked outside a motel in Paihia today. Anyone on here? Looks familiar

No, but they will tend to angle out a bit from the bead to the edge of the tyre. Talk to who you plan to fit them for you. If you go somewhere decent, they will know what they are talking about and can probably even show you an example.

Just OK, 255 are better on a 9" rim, and will look a little odd on a 8" but not so wide that they can't be fit. You will want to go to a 40 aspect ratio though (ie 255/40/17) Edit: also beware that you will have around 10mm less clearance inside and outside, so if your rims, etc only just clear the struts/bodywork now, you may be in for trouble.

Vodafone is so lame (2 years ago I would never have thought I'd say it). My first 5 vodafone phones were free on plans, then they stopped subsidising phones. That sucked for me beacuase whenever my term would run out I'd simply sign up for a further 12-24 months and get another free or cheap phone. That change only benefitted broke-ass prepayers. 1) They cancelled my plan on me (Freetalk) because they didn't offer it anymore. It was a really good value plan and obviously they realised they weren't making all that much money on it. I complained and got 2 months free on a new plan (which was one of the old "Get" plans). 2) A year later they cancelled that plan aswell. I got 2 months free on my new plan (after serious complaining) which was prepay as none of the other plans were flexible enough to allow me to do calls, text, pxt and data without having to seriously compromise on one of the services. I also at this point bought a Telecom prepay to get the most value out of both networks. 3) Telecom brought out a new plan (Flexi) which is really similar to my old freetalk. Basically I get whatever I want at a discounted rate from the prepay prices (because it is on plan) and my bill reflects my usage. I can use $50 of data one month and $50 of calls the next and it doesn't matter. Plus I get more txts than I'll ever use to any network. Finally, I have a Windows Mobile 6 device hooked up on it. not as light or sleek as an iphone, but with a few software upgrades and hacks I have: -touch screen -slide-out keyboard -handwriting recognition -iphone skin so it looks at works very similar to an iphone -threaded sms (like iphone) -picture gallery (like iphone with slide to view, touch zoom etc) -web access with iexplorer or opera -touch-scrolling contacts list (like iphone) -microsoft office -email -video on media player -audio on media player -media library (emulates iphone style library) -8GB SD card so its like the 8GB iphone buit with added benefit of a removable and easy to backup SD card. Can aslo swap in another card in like 5seconds so in a way can have unlimited media storage. -adobe reader -flash -java applications (like gmail on my phone) -synchronisation with outlook contacts, memos and calendar -usb connectivity via sync cradle to my PC with synced backups -wireless internet gateway if plugged into my laptop away from home -bluetooth -wireless internet if near a wi-fi hotspot (can surf bimmersport on my phone from the couch with no data charges). and the list goes on. I love the iphone (hence why I am running so much iphone meulation on this phone), but my phone cost $280 on trademe, and although not as nice as the iphone, it can do more, and is perfectly fine. If voda offered a decent priced plan and the phones came down in price I'd get one, but my windows phone is killer for me right now. Edit: regarding Nick's comments below. iphone rules for battery life, and screen compared to my phone. iphone is the better device, but you certainly are not getting bang for buck.

You can't tell me this isn't funny!

Any vehicle imported (first registered) after 1 jan 1991 must have a high stop lamp fitted. If your car is is older than a '91 and was nz-new or imported before then, then you don't have to have the light.

Lekker vert! Welcome to the forum. Interesting headlight covers...

I like it. Not keen on certain parts, but its a pretty badass e21.

Everyone I know has been talking about this lately. I don't find it as funny. Its funny, but not THAT funny. The comments below the video are funnier than the video itself.

I've seen a copy of the initial screening exam, and trained with a mate who was training to pass the physical. If you are reasonably fit and know how to read and add and subtract, then the initial tests are simple. It's once you are accepted into the training course that it starts to get tougher. My mate changed his mind, so I don't know what the training course is like.

If they're the same tyres that were on it that time on Ramp Road in the wet Tim, then maybe wider tyres are the go afterall! Side note: I thought that manufacturers had to put the Z marking before the rim size on any tyre rated for 240km/h + (so that includes V, W, Y & Z) but that's just what I read somewhere on the all-knowing, all-truthful web, so it may be a load of hogwash for all I know.

I hope you don't sell these as a business. 2 sales in 8 months is a bit slow lol! Tought I'd seen this before
-
Yeah they mentioned on breakfast that on Queen Street an ambulance was escorted by a police car and the truckies were letting them through. I support them fully. Easy for me to say. I drove to work as usual along the waterfront of Paihia and there were the usual 8-10 vehicles lol. Sunny day up here to boot.

I would have thought this was something you'd know Tim? Anywho correct tyre size for 16's on e30 if going for 205's is 205/50/16. Also the speed difference would be a percentage, so would not be a constant 5kph. You may have a speedo error too. My speedo reads 10kph too fast (constant). You are going to get a considerable change going from 205/40/16 to 205/50/16. Its a 20mm difference in sidewall height!. Your car will be 20mm higher off the ground, but the tyres will fill the guards 20mm more aswell making it look lower. win/win plus better ride! = ultimate win. PS - any reason why you spent the extra for Z-rated tyres?? I wouldn't have thought an e30 would ever be going fast enough to warrant them?

Hello and welcome! Very tidy driving in the autocross!! Looked at some of your other videos and it seems you had quite a mispent youth. Top marks. I have a question I've always wondered - can the in-car phones in older BMW's be hooked up to a NZ network or are they all too old?

wtf does interperate mean?
-
I've thrown at least three sets away. good luck with that.

Good e21's are getting harder to find and going up in price. You can pick up an e30 for lunch money. e36's are dropping dramatically too and also very inexpensive. Welcome to bimmersport.
