You will notice that the WOF thing says what you can and can't have and how they must work - this does restrict their operation whilst driving in some cases PLUS the new rules comin' in on the 27th Feb are road rules not WOF rules and they DO restrict their use. Driving lights are differnt to fogs and different yet again to headlights. Read and read again, and then read sic's thread re: neons in the appearance section for yet more info.

I'll get it right yet - the stuff I use is called priceless. Haven't been to the red shed yet, but when I do I'll look out for that perfection "sh*t"

Hah! I can read it and understand it if spoken slowly, clearly and relatively formally, and only if I know what the basic subject matter is, but I can't write it or speak it. My grandmother used to forget to speak to us kids in English when she got older, and we would still know what she was on about, but replied in English, but I can't understand Dutch on TV. So yeah, your car is a rusty bitch.

Service meter (red green etc) You need to pull out your instrument cluster, undo it's back cover and see if the bulbs and board for it are actually there - sometimes the cars didn't come with them, but the little meter is still there. If the bulbs and board are there, try replacing the lithium battery (also inside the instrument cluster) as that is the next likely culprit. I personally wouldn't bother as all it does is remind you when to get a service, and if you can't remember yourself... Temp gauges are also known for failing. Does the tacho work? If it doesn't it will either be a failed instrument cluster, a blown fuse, or a loose connection on the back of the cluster. Auto aerial could be a fuse, a stuffed motor, a stuffed relay, a broken mast (internally), or a disconnected wire. Try the fuse first followed by the wire. If it makes a noise but does nothing then it is the mast. If wire and fuse OK, and still no noise, prob the relay inside the aerial or the motor. New aerials from repco are around $100 but are crap. I recommend spending the same money (it'll prob cost that) paying an auto sparky to overhaul the old one or buy a better one somewhere else. ($120 odd at European Auto Spares in Waikato.) Central locking motors die, but as everyone else has said check your fuses. Once done, come back with what still doesn't work.

fo shizzle my nizzle! If something is the shizzle it is "the sh*t" or "the shiznit" i.e. cool. The sha-nizzle!! is very cool. Fo shizzle my nizzle is "For sure my *****!" Explaining all this is definitely not the shizzle, and for doin it I deserve a sha-zizzle up my ba-zizzle (shafting up my ass)

RWD = kickass!

It's not headlights, just fog lights - you can sttill drive with your headlights on low beams.
-
You can get the spray you refer to - it is called ados contact adhesive and you can get it from hardware stores and building supplies stores. It also comes in a tube/ squeeze pack, and prob for a caulking gun or in a tub too, but I've never bought it this way.

I'll let you argue that one. Until then my foglights are off. Don't forget that that rules list isn't the legislation, just a translation of it into everday english. Also, judges are supposed to take into account the purpose of the law when interpreting statutes, not just the literal interpretation - the purpose is to avoid dazzling other drivers when the lights are not required. I have a feeling you would lose on that one.
-
Except that the law states that driving lights must be off when the headlights are on low beams, and must be controlled automatically with the haedlight controls (i.e., no separate switch). This means they can only be on when your headlights are on highs, again, no good for daytime driving. Foglights cannot be on during clear daytime conditions, and driving lights can only be on when your headlights are on high, therefore - say goodbye to using your fogs.

My Dutch is rusty as bimmerboys car, but picking out the obvious stuff is easy even for an english speaker: BMW's new 130i top performer in its class brings new dimensions of pleasure. Munich: 198kw, 258HP (although I did the conversion from kw to HP and got 265.5??) 300Nm torque 0-100 in 6.2 secs, top speed 250kmh, RWD. perfect 50:50 weight distro means it is quick on the corners, and did the famous Nurburgring in 8min 35s. the 130i accomodates the new innovative and extremely pwerful 3.0L in line six from the 630i coupe under the hood. This is the stuff of a pure race car (I think it says). the 130i is an attractive mix of impressive performance, handling and dynamics making it a leader/unequalled in its class blah blah. the powerful 130 made its official debut at the Geneva Autosalon March and will be on the market in Sept '05. the other 1 series' introduced/released in sept '04 round out the line up. Or something to that effect. Not hard as most of the words look similar to English, plus Dutch grandparents in my youth helped.

Plus you'll also notice that fog lights are now banned or use in daylight with no fog, AND they are bringing in the 5km speed tolerance - bastards! I'm all for strict enforsement, but not for tightening of the rules. Fine, put a million cameras and cops out to catch speeders, but don't make it easier for people to be law breakers by narrowing the tolerances. The 5km speeders aren't the problem.

Well at least until the 27th of Feb as per sic's thread. Quoted from the LTSA:
-
If you read the WOF manual I posted a link to you will find that fog lights are permitted if they are permanently dipped and are independently operated to the headlights. Dipped means that they do not put light above 100mm of a horizontal line drawn from the top of the lights at a distance of 3m, and that the beam of light from the fog lamps is directed downwards. See the third page for a diagram of dipped beams, and the 7th & 8th for permitted lighting setups.

Agree re: leaving the car as is, but then again, I could not afford to buy a car I couldn't drive, so... Hopefully it goes to a good home - i.e. some one buys it to thrash around a track - at least it would be happy there. Would almost be sadder to have it sitting around in a collectors garage than being fanged around a track.
-
Depends on how they are wired, but you shouldn't have been busted. See... WOF Manual

I thought they came chrome, but I am really not sure.

Dodgy bastards. Edit: I am a retard who can't spell bastard. (Self moderated).

OT: ///Carl - did you also have an old BMsport username zwilling then? I have seen it in the member list.
-
Yep would work on that colour - personal taste of course. You could do it yourself just like on the windows instead of buying one of course.

From the Site... Therin lies the rub. It isn't "...challenging and credible for the car entusiast core audience" and not that entertaining for... That is essentially what TG try to do, and more recently 5thG is also doing more of the entertaining thing. I hope AATS step up to the plate and provide an entertaining show (although it is quite limited by the half hour slot) as it would be great to have an NZ car show that is interesting, informative and entertaining other than the also poorly presented and executed Performance Car TV. There definately is a market gap there, but at this stage it is still yet to be filled.

It depends alot on what colour car it is going on.
