We only got stuck once more going through a bog noone else was game to try. And I stalled it in a river coz its a petrol, out with the CRC, and she started and I was away - no assistance required! Anyway, here's one of the Suzuki Jimny with road tyres proving that you don't need a hard-out 4x4 to cross a river.

It is much deeper than it looks in the pic. Here is one of my old man towing a surf out with the willys.

Me, stuck in bog being towed out by the Mitsubishi CJ driven by my mechanic. Only the first two vehicles got through here (the first two) by then it was too boggy without specialist tyres and lockers.

Awesome day on Sunday - 70 km of 4x4ing over 5 farms in Okaihau. Run by the Okaihau Fire Brigade - thanks guys, awesome event, and really well organised! Was quite dry, so not many mud pics, but here are some of the better ones that I got. Ran out of film early on, so not many, but still some cool ones: There were 44 vehicles and 102 people participating. We separated into 5 groups 10mins apart to save waiting time at obstacles. Our group consisted of our willys, a couple of suzukis, a couple of hilux surfs, a regular hilux ute, a Mitsibishi CJ and a Mu. The group in the morning before the fog cleared...
  9. There are often parties on, but usually its the 14 - 20 set as anyone over 20 usually has enough sense to move away. But, the parties are big ( bigger than your average private city shindig) A party up here is considered a "gathering" unless there are more than 40-odd people. A party is 40 plus. Not unusual to end up with a hundy. Easy since most of them are round bonfires in paddocks. No neighbours to annoy, plenty of parking and tent-erecting space, and plenty of paddocks to sleep in. And since there is nothing else to do, there is usually one every weekend, the problem is that it is always the same people, and always the same idiots who go and cause trouble, so I tend to only go when it is a special occaision for someone I know well, or if I am hosting it myself The other option is to hit one of the cities for the weekend which I do from time to time. Emma - speak for yourself. Bloody South Islanders - too much time on their hands.
  10. Ummm, thanks for the 56k killer of a hedgehog, but its a bit OT don't you think. No, I haven't rung sd or bavarians yet, but there is a guy in the T&E with e36 parts, so if he answers his phone I'll talk to him, but he hasn't answered it yet. Thanks for the help - will let you know how it all works out.
  11. Bit of cliche on this forum, but - werd!
  12. Em - I thnk you and I are using the same product. meh - don't care that much - shiny enough, and they only last a few minutes around here - metal roads...
  13. After reading that LTSA info, it appears my new smoked tails that I bought from gus are now illegal (no tinting is allowed to be applied etc). I might just put the old lenses on the car for warrants as I know my mechanic well, and he is pretty legit. So, if they aren't on there at warrant time, he prob won't notice them on there during the rest of the time. A bit of a bastard really - I could always risk it, but then if he fails it, he'll always be looking out for me driving with the on, and mate or not, could be a bit of a tricky one...

K, get you now, but (a personal one here) would you rather a mint E30 say a year either side of 1990 with low kms for somewhere between the $5k and $6k, or that car (say it looks pretty good from a test-drive, but you don't know for sure) for that price? Just wondering - trying to get a diff perspective on it.
  15. Or bar staff - been there, done that sooo many times. I worked the 8pm - 5am New Years two years ago in a busy Auckland pub, and the 9pm - 4:30am regularly in a sleazy Dunedin dive when I was down there = ghey! :gay: I feel your pain Cam being in a rural area myself. Sometimes, none of your mates are up to anything, or are out of town, and the pub is always filled with those girls that you really don't... (I've said enough already). Plus if you live as rural as I do, the only pub within taxi (if it actually existed) distance closes at 11:30pm, and the later ones are a good 20-25km away, so driving there is out. Getting drunk by yourself at home = :gay: So I tend to organise my Saturdays the week before, and if nothing arises by Friday morn, then its road trip baby! Aux or Whangaz. Anything to get out of town, so maybe you need to find a few doss houses in nearby towns so you can cruise down there and get on the juice/smoke/pills (whatever floats your boat) on those weekends when the boredom sets in. Or get yoself some tail - but as I'm single right now, and no prospects (damn Northland women are thin on the ground) I shouldn't really talk. So good luck - and yes, I know it's Sunday avo,but you can use my advice for next week.
  16. Too big to attempt on dialup. But, even giving my bias towards BMW, I think the RS Audis are f**ken awesome, and I would prob go with the Audi. I never liked Audi styling till the late 90's (I mean who would buy an 80-something Audi 80 or 100 over an E30 or e34 - have to be f'ing bananas!) However, the newer Audi stuff is pretty awesome (I have driven a fair bit of it), and so is the bimmer stuff. I like the new Audi big grilles (even though most don't, I think Audi is the only manufacturer to get the new big-grille phase right), and the performance is un-arguable, so for me it comes down to interior styling, and personal taste during the test drive. Now since I heven't seen the interiors, and obviously haven't test-driven either, at this stage, I have to put my money o the Audi. Sorry.

Another bloody good buy. Is it just me, or have prices just dropped crazily in the last two weeks? I only paid just less than this for my E30 with 97.000 genuine clicks! Tradme linkage
  20. Grand! Esp since a mate asked me what one did two days ago, and I was only able to give him my rough understanding (which wasn't far off I must say ) But now I can act like a f**ken know-it-all which I love to do, so... :mosh: Thanks sparkle
  21. But here's a photoshop effort I did for myself before I did the caps to see if I would like them.
  22. Which is really poor due to the lightig conditions in my shed and the fact I don't have a digicam - all photos are using my phone. I have one before I did the tails, and with the wheels centrecapless (I have never had the old centrecaps on, I only put one on so I could take a picture of it. Anyway... (Sorry if I've posted this one before).
  23. Only one I have since doing the wheels is
