  1. Are you referring to the tail lights?
  2. Livi and Nathan, this was not aimed at the lounge thread, but yes, this thread was created in some ways because the lounge thread typifies the extreme end of the "social" type posts that some members don't like. Livi - you were given permission by Simon, so no need to apologise for thread itself (although some posts were not really appropriate). Nathan - yes some mods were viewing (myself included). Simon and I were busy PMing each other whether it was a good idea or not. We decided to give a few hours and see. We received a few complaints, and we weren't happy with all we saw, so we pulled it. This thread is mainly because we want a way to guauge public opinion, and I thought we could utilise the report feature for this. This is not a dig at anyone in particular, as the "serious" members can be equally guilty of being killjoys. Thanks for your comments. As Livi said -GO BIMMERSPORT. That's the idea.
  3. How much do decent coilovers like that cost? Want to put my setup in perspective.

    M325i vs SR20DET.

Wicked - I love your video demo! I too had to run my car with no exhaust - although I went a km or 2 up the road and back.
  5. Hi all, The subject of what is inappropriate or irrelevant on this site is a matter of opinion, and a matter up for debate. We have a broad range of members here from all different ages and backgrounds, and we want everyone to enjoy the site. This is a site for BMW ENTHUSIASTS, of all ages, races, sexes, and social backgrounds. We are a BMW site, not a chat room. We want the majority of the content to be about BMW's. BUT, we are a social lot, and we like to have the odd bit of friendly banter, jokes, and fun. (Not to mention the odd beer together out in "the real world"). The problem is when either of these aspects gets too dominant, or when posted content is offensive (and offensive content is in the eye of the beholder). I like to see members getting along and enjoying themselves, but when this makes other members feel like the site is not serious about BMW's, or the site is inappropriate for them to view, and leave this really gets me upset. Similarly, if our members think the site is boring with no social atmosphere, they may leave which would also upset me. So, YOU all need to respect each other's differing views. BUT you also need to let the mod crew know when you see something you don't like. It is up to YOU to decide what should and shouldn't be on Bimmersport. The easiest way to do this is to start using the "Report" function on posts you think are inappropriate. And you need to use it without fear of being singled-out. I hate that it's called a report function as the admin team consider it more like a "like/dislike" button that you can use to send your opinion of a particular post or thread. We'd love to hear about any posts or threads that you feel aren't in line with what bimmersport is about. The button is located at the bottom left of all posts. This is easier than sending a PM to a specific mod, and in most cases we will simply take a look and remove anything objectionable. In some cases we may warn the original poster, and in others we may open the topic up for discussion. We want YOU to decide what you want out of this forum, and using the built-in report function is the easiest way. I'm going to leave this thread open for any discussion about the forum you want to make. I will not close the thread as I believe that such discussion is helpful. I will, however remove any posts I deem not in fair play. Thanks everyone, lets make Bimmersport an awesome place for us ALL to enjoy. Graham
  6. Moved for Yah brov. Looks good!
  7. Where'd you get your strut top - I've got a new one that's started to crack. If it's the same supplier, maybe we could go back as it's obviously a quality issue.
  8. No problem if it's done on private property. Full blown burnouts on public roads is NOT endorsed, encouraged, tolerated etc. Find someone's carpark bro.
  9. Simon posting e30 pics???? Got the swine flu?
  10. Torque wrench is the only way usually, and there are varying degrees of accuracy depending on how much you spend. I have tightened a wheel bearing bolt without one before - I weighed myself, worked out how long the bar I needed to get the right torque with my weight applied at the end and just stood on it. Not 100% accurate, or useable in all situations, but was fine for that job.

A registration question I had once was "Are you the smartest person in the world?" Of course, the answer was obvious and I got it right. How did they know it was me and not some dumb person though I wonder????? lol. BTW brook, I have been meaning to ask you to try your hand at something for me. Better get in quick huh?

    Available jobs?

When I was at uni i started a gig guide. It was free, and delivered free to mailboxes in student areas in Dunedin. I paid my g/f to deliver, I did the graphic design and content myself, had a website, and sold advertising in it. The advertisers got a cheap deal, but were REQUIRED to include a discount coupon in the ad or offer a discount if the ad was shown. Only pubs, clubs, bottle stores, and entertainment venues were targeted. i did it in my 4th year only, and it was the brainchild of a close friend of mine who put up a larger amount of capital, and helped bolster early ad sales through a family bar, provided the printing equipment and brought his hospitality network into the equation as his input into the partnership. In 12 months we made 600% on our financial investment. Not much of an hourly rate though, but if I'd stayed in Dunedin a second year I think I could have gotten close to living off it by the end of the year. I got offered too much money for a real job and chucked it in. Often wonder if I shouldn't have.
  13. How on earth did 285 people find the X5 the most desirable???? And 148 the X3???? WTF?
  14. Hard. M1 in the end, but I think I'd get a different result every time. I just felt like the m1 deserved a look. Now I've got that out of my system..... Sooooooo much better than the Holden one the AA did a while ago.
  15. 325i is m50. 328i is m52. 328i makes it's hp lower down and has more torque. 328i will smoke 325i hands down in a straight line. I would go for a 328i even just on the fact it uses the m52 alone. If you want a smaller motor, get the 323i. M52 2.5L.

Speedy modding by me - he's already gone and so are his posts. Hope it doesn't appear again in a few mins....

Sam, ^^^^^^this is the one I told you about weeks ago. Was supposed to be at the cruise, but I wasn't able to get hold of Peter to confirm his attendance. If you come up to have a look let me know. I'll book you into hotel MOF.
  18. That's a really good/clever question. My gut feeling is that it would as it is accident damage, not purely mechanical. It would depend on whether you immediately stopped or kept driving until it stopped I would think.
  19. I may be very very wrong, as I only have yor side, and can only make wide assumptions, but if the crowd are, infact, as incompetent as you make out, perhaps it isn't the ecu after all. Unfortunately by the sounds of things, it is the only thing you can try.
