I will be running standard plates when I come to AK - over the top of my German ones if I can. I don't care how ugly it looks, at least at home I can rock the german ones. Give it 12 months - as long as no-one kicks up too much of a fuss, they'll forget about it and move on to the next hot thing to fine people for. They had a blitz on the "sticker" plates a few years back, but slowly I've noticed more people have them again.

Day 9 Not all that exciting today - lots of hours, not much worth taking pictures of. Basically I bolted up everything I mocked up yesterday, fabbed a few things, put most of the wiring back where it should be etc. View of lower IC mounts and oil cooler. Note the trick oil cooler brackets - they are the original ones, cut down slightly and reversed so what used to attach to the car now attaches to the cooler and vice versa, then flipped upside down, and the rubber cooler mounts flipped. Looks factory. I had to bend the oil cooler pipes slightly to make it miss the radiator - also had to trim a small bit off the bottom of the radiator tank (just part of the bracket) to gain the few mm I needed. At first I thought It was impossible until I realised I'd left the rubber radiator mounts out and that gained me 10mm. The radiator tank is just out of focus at top left. Not the clearance with the tank trimmed - not much! Pics of hot side of IC piping and air filter as promised. may be welding a small piece of metal in front to replace some of what I removed. Initially I needed it all out, but rearranged things and managed to get it so I could have left a 15-20mm wide bit of metal there, so may weld it back - not sure of what the certifier will want. I can vouch for that, although mine was mostly and offset in speed - only a very small scale in there as well. Tested with GPS - OBC was pretty much spot on - an adjustment of the speedo later and it's fairly good now. Havn't testing above license-losing speed though, so may still be out up there.

Sorry no. They are in the garage. I guess I could put them on my car - bit of a mission though. I'll see what I can do about finding a pic - someone must have had a set of these before. Anyone able to help out here?

Yup, regretting getting the space in mine. Then again I did it before LTSA/PPlas/NZPolice had even heard of them so was pretty safe. Not sure what to do - not going back to stock and not forking our $600 or whatever it is these days either.

Pretty sure if you remove the seats, remove the belts, and install 4-ddor front seats in a coupe you're fine. No idea what the story is in a 4-door - disable the rear doors from opening maybe??? This is only comjecture - ring your nearest LVV certifier for the goods.

TM A few years back I really wanted an e34 535i manual. This one is clean as a whistle, on ACS's, and well priced IMO. Someone buy it. or this one: TM 2

150hp's a bit optimistic Nathan. Isn't the is around 130-0dd - ie 320 power but better response and weight distro?

Street racing is not tolerated on Bimersport. If you were on a track, I'd suggest talking to some of the guys you were racing with for a start. Another great resource would be the e30 race series guys on here. If you want some serious answers do some research first, then post back with specific questions. Otherwise, if street racing IS your thing, this site IS NOT for you. BTW, e30 speedos are notoriously wrong at higher speeds. You weren't doing anywhere near 180km/h. Sorry.

hah - I did wonder, but thought - nah, must be the real deal. lol.

E36 Rack into an E30 Conversion Write up

Worthy of sticky. Good stuff. -
What's the story with the Hulme car these days? Its been on display for a couple of years now but we never here about it or see it out doing laps, or for sale etc? Is it a dead project?

You need a low profile spanner to remove e30 seats. If you have one, it's straight forward. Good effort. Come do mine????

Day 8 Busy day mocking up and test fitting everything. Of course everytime I moved something somethign else wouldn't fit. I finally got the IC lines sorted, but then couldn't fit the oil cooler anywhere without it being a hazard for hitting the ground (bad since it contains the life-blood of the engine). So I got the sump guard to fit (a bit of hammer modification to get it to fit past the SC), and then flipped the oil cooler upside down and reversed the flow direction (swapped lines around) so hot end was still up, and voila! Anyway, here are pics of the finished mockup - will bolt in place tomorrow and start rewiring and fitting everything else. Still lots of little finishing off to do aswell - rust protecting areas of bare metal, etc. Somehow I missed pics of the hot side of the IC piping and AFM. Will post tomorrow. Beer Count= 48

I am selling these on behalf. Viper 17" rims all with cosmetic kerbing as seen in photo. 4x100 17x7 ET40 offset (will require spacers - not included). Sorry about pic quality as only had a phone camera on me. Come with 4x near new tyres 205/40/17. 3x Goodyear Eagle F1's, and 1 x Kenda (us brand but I think made in Taiwan). Tyres worth the price alone. $500 firm. Will deliver to Auckland for free.

Change the tail lights and I'd hit it.

I really like your cover shot. And the car looks clean as! Other shots not so much. I think you should work on your composition (how you setup the shot and pose the car). Like the one with the two mercs - why is your car in behind them, and not slightly in front to indicate it is the "champion" and main subject matter? Just some honest feedback. The photo quality is pretty good.

Cheers dude. I have always made my own boxes, but was feeling lazy. Didn't find what I wanted, so I did it myself . result: But thanks anyway.

Day 7 BMW Special Tool BMW3025 - home made thin-walled 30mm socket for removing flanged nut on gearbox output flange. Thanks to Glenn for showing me his so I could copy. Its a cheaper impact driver that I shaved down. I managed to fit the oil cooler filter housing from my old motor - had to bend one of the pipes a wee bit to clear the SC, but they perfectly miss the SC piping! Great Success! And finally - in! Lots to do, but its in its final resting place = win! Will do more tomorrow. Beer Count = 39

Custom front pulley. The powersteer pump is now a few mm further forward - just shimmed up the powersteer pump mounting bolts so it's still inline. Tensioner mounted to custom SC bracket and is adjustable (obviously).

SC shouldn't be drawing too much at closed throttle. But I totally see where you are coming from. Not sure if you know, but this was a working setup in another car. My theory is that I should be able to get it working in my car for fairly limited cost, and then spend the money in the right places to improve it. From what I know on the subject, and what I know about this system, there are some minor tuning issues. Whether I can resolve these and leave the TB as it is is yet to be decided. The BOV is fairly large, and has a fairly large (IMO) return line. Thanks for your comments - definitely food for thought.
