m3 evo brakes are huge. and Apex, Tech2 front bumpers are heavy (some much plastic reinforcing) but the rest of the kit is light as, all the weight is in the front bumper, and in a race car any weight over the front wheels is not good oh and i cant take the car to get paint tomorrow so it will be going in this weekend, no biggie and to finish, this a IS front lip might look rather nice and also keen the bank happy

Tech2 is too heavy for a race car thats trying to get a good power to weight ratio imo, the front bumper weighs a ton, and it would take money to make it fit right on a pf/l might just make it look like a back of the grid e30 series car.....like mine

in reply to the rear end, i have not found anyone else putting a e36m3 rear end in a e30, will make the track a bit wider, effectively it will be a 1999 M3 Evo in a e30 shell. taking it over to the car painters at 4pm tomorrow as for bodykit i was thinking just a zender front apron like the one on the vert in my signature would look nice.
  5. Genuine tech 2 is not that common, but if your looking for a year or two, a few kits might pop up, if so you are looking at $800-1200, condition depending probably easier just to buy a tech2 car and swap the kit over then re-sell the car.

Alot. Thats why the project has been down for 6 months, ive been selling off the remains of my dads car yard to get him the funds to pay for this and only just sold the last one this morning (a nissan wingroad) Its a targa top, so not quite a vert. Hope to have the car in paint by Thursday, will need to get a trailer off my dads friend, or if anyone is willing to lend me a hand and a trailer Thursday afternoon I have got to get the car from Takapuna to Glenfield. Then early next week it will be going from their to RaceFX for a few weeks to be completed So looking at end of June for Completion. oh and can anyone suggest a functional bodykit to go with that doesn't cost the earth?
  7. ^^^^^^^^^^^ thermostat proved fine, and the engine is defiantly not cold, the vert in my sig had the same problem ive tried 2 gauge clusters with no avail, so a job this weekend is to check the temp sensor itself. will post up with my finding's

So the funds have finally come through to get this project going again, and thought it was about time to start a project thread Pic of when we first got it, also came with 16" BBS BMW 5 stud basket weaves The Package arrived from Christchurch with parts sourced all from one damaged 1997 m3 evo, the parts included Front Struts Rear Suspension and Diff Engine 6spd Gearbox Drive shaft Exhaust Steering Column and various things such as shifter and ECU Then Blue 320i was sent over to Andy to get a Role cage, since then (end of 08') it has been sitting in the garage, collecting dust. Will update as time goes on............... *sorry about quality of pics, all were taken on my 1.2MP phone camera
  9. cool video, need someone to make something like this on the next Bimmersport cruise

    Man, I hate Photoshop

looking good do it, uno you want to.
  12. ^^^^ in reference to that pic of the immaculate m3 engine bay im pretty sure the gas strut comes off the hinge onto the car, just below where the eye cannot see, my 318i didn't have a gas strut but a metal rod in place of it, compared to my 320i and 325i that do have gas struts
  13. haha, they hit 2 cars on the exit, pretty useless thieves
  14. how much cheaper is it to get the center and put it in a slip diff? i've got a 3.46,3.64,3.91 and 4.45, but all are slip diffs so would be nice to convert one of them to a LSD.
  15. the first thing to check would be the switch on the brake pedal, its at the top of the pedal and should make a clicking sound when on or off, its a contact switch so when the brake is released the switch is on and visa versa sure some people following me on the cruise will say my brakes were on the whole time that was purely down to me not putting the switch on properly, cause it to lack contact with the pedal meaning it was permanently on
  16. never knew the e46 had offroad capabilities
  17. Mike Delmonts 2002ti hits 270km/h down the back straight of puki....
  18. welcome, cool car. interesting how its got a Tech1 rear spoiler and a schintzer front apron. hmmmm
  19. So ive never been able to sort out why the Temp Gauge shows the temp at the first bar but not the middle Engine is a 88' M20B25 in Manual, it's filled with water, which bring me to the other Q. Why does my coolant light Turn on when cold yet once it's heated if you turn the car on and off it stops blinking but will turn on later, guessing a funny ground? and the thermostat opens and closes in boiling water. But it opens about twice as much as the racecar which has a m20b20, im pretty thats whats causing the problem but any help would be appreciated
  20. coming along nice, really want to see what it gets at the dyno
  21. umm........seems like they have to work pretty hard to get it going, so maybe it is harder than running, oh and your feet wont get dirty *gramamrarar
  22. delete this thread, chromes give you baller status pretty sure as Zenetti said, its all in the style
