thanks fella! glad you enjoyed it. Where doing BDO on friday (DJ only :/) and live at western springs.

the car is HellBM / Ray's Black e39 540i touring doing warp speed down the AKL motorway A very big thank you to ray for lending us this vehicle. Couldn't have done it without him. It was the only thing we could fit the camera in/on + 4 to 5 people and still drive around effortlessly! I love v8s

Braces car is a top vehicle. someone would save themsleves a lot of $$$ in mods buying this as its one of the few thats been done properly. Has most motorsport options.

It is possible to change the coupe seats onto the sedan carriers and motors. The electronics are the same between both. Have changed my front seats to coupe, heaps better Its a pity you werent asking a month earlier. Westy just sold a full set of leather 46 seats for around $500. You can get your cloth seats leather with brand new higher than OEM grade leather for about 3k. this includes the rears seats and door cards too. Most reputible holsterers will know how this is done. Its something a lot of dealers get done to cloth imports to help sell the vehicles. I used retro vehicle enhancements in AKL (not much help)

hahaha good read thanks for sharing.

You can cut the alloy bell housing on the 260 and re-weld it to the correct angle. You need someone who is very good at alloy welding however. It has been done before on this forum successfully. I would still go the ZF route as its less dodgy and probably wont get raised eyebrows around warrent time. and the 240 is a sh*t house box.
-
Youre getrag 260 box wont fit without some major modification ... You need a ZF 5speed from the later e36 328 manual or e36 95 m3. You cannot use a ZF 6speed as it wont fit in the tunnel. Talk to ray he has all the kit. Youll also need to modifiy the drive shaft and I would think you need to move the brake booster / master cylinder too as you have to in the s50->e30.

nice work -
I would phone link themselves around the specifics. They will probably direct you towards a tuner/reseller whos done the m54b30 in the past. Another thing is there is someone in the open series who is running one in his e30 m3. Its the red one Some of the race guys may be able to pass on his details. hope that helps.

Talk to ray / HellBM for cost. hes moved a couple. While the stock ECU will run the engine, you are going to need a lot of the original sensors / other modules / instrument cluster to even make the DME satisfied to turn over. The money you'll spend getting the OEM ECU working in recoding and deleting errors (a lot are not removible). You might as well just buy the link out right. And as Glenn said, you will need to get the fly by wire throttle working. You cant use any old accelerator pedal either, the e46 one has varible voltage / signal output to make it work. If you found a pedal from a manual car it would be a lot easier as the automatic ones have a kick down switch coded in them which is inturn coded back to the EGS / DME. Youll need a GT1 computer (Guido / BM workshop) to re-program it all / delete bypass fault codes. For around 3500 for the g4 storm you could just have link and a lot of options to boot and a lot less hassles / headache. However the g4 extreme supports fly by wire throttle if you cant change out the MAF/throttle body.

nice The elevation change wasn't as harsh as I was expecting in some of the corners.

I have a mild stretch going on on the e46 (champhered) to allow the tire to sit under the guard. Using falkin fk-452's at 265. 265 width on a falkin is more like a 255 on a conti .. its got a lot to do with brand choice as they all have about 10mm difference between some brands.

The new link g4 ECU has full support for double Vanos. Going with this setup for the s50 this year. Link here: http://www.linkecu.com/products/engine-man...t-ecus/g4-storm

State Insurance Company Query/Gripe (Long Read)

Dont feel bad ... AA declined me when my 330i was stock and I was 27. When asked why they said that it was to much of 'expensive' vehicle for my age. I said "So I understand if was under 25 but when do you guys draw the line on age these days?" Im 31 and with AMI these days. -
400hp @ 1800 RPM M version is reported at 500hp. nice for the X6 m and X5 m and topline models respectively.

some threads I fond using google. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...d.php?t=1140290 http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=288963 seems you can tape quite successfully into the stock audio to get a line level signal! .. the rest should be easy! Remember, when adding a sub or rear tray speakers you cannot legally cut/drill the cars metal tray or rear boot divider so check out the LTSA site before you do any metal work else you might find you can get a WOF next time.

Your looking at some decent money anyway you look at it. Probably best to see what the yanks have done first. I looked into it for the e46 but it just introduces to many aftermarket stick on parts for my liking. It was going to cost me about $3500 to properly upgrade. Otherwise stock was still the best option. If you goin to run it from the stock head unit you need line signal converters into aftermakert amps.

you get fined ? ... they seem to be sweet with mine but I do get warnings.

think youll find those are carbon fiber coated wheels on TM. The core is still standard rep alloy pot hole haters.

Fascinating engineering video on bolts and vibration
hybrid replied to jochen's topic in General Discussion
Had a problem with my ei-bach sway bars and link bolts coming loose after a period of a couple of weeks in the e46. (especially after a big open road drive). These were tighted with nyloc nuts or nylon insert nuts. While not dangerous they still made a mild clunking sound and I could feel it in the steering which pissed me off to no end. I got sick of pulling the wheels off and tightening all the time so headed down to 'The bolt shop' and picked up a full set of new nyloc nuts and NordLock washers as seen in the video. just installed them and am stoked with the results! The whole re-nut with NordLock and nyloc cost $4.30 Highly recommended going to this system, especally for suspension components. bought from here ... these guys rule http://www.boltshop.co.nz/ -
Been planning to do this for the e46 16:9 display w/ tape in behind the motorised display. It pretty easy to do, you just have to create a dock inside the tape unit hole and gut the tape drive system from the unit. Use a dice or intervee interface for the logic. Should make a mint addition to the nav instead of having my under my center console.
