There are many reason car companies do this, Everything from fuel consumption, emmisions, marketing motives and even detuned (yes even BMW do it) not to show up their M model of cars. Take the 335 for example. The simple equation is (no matter how much people will tell you otherwise) more power = more fuel. So to awnser your question, fuel economy is the main trade off.

Gatebil .... google it .. youll spend all night watching videos from it.
-
Hmmm have been thinking of matte black CH's on the 46 for some time now.
-
hahahah awesome ... needs the number plate "Slayer"
-
hahahaha nice one for friday
-
Awesome stuff! .. more and more im liking BMWs move to embrase turbo technology.
-
They might even copy Aston and do a 'v8 vantage' version then cheat everyone and come out with one thats v8 vantage size but has another 100hp like aston have just done
-
nice work .. yeah BMW's diesel technology is awesome, specially the way their atomising injection works. I guess your trade off is you have a cloud of black smoke out the back of the car everytime you give it the boot ?
-
hehe this got me on one of my I typed too fast days.. Paul is indeed what I meant. With all this, at the end of the day .. we all get better techonology / bandwidth on our mobile network .. and best of all! .. compeditive pricing!

The upside is Tony you can get an auto e46 and start the long road to probably NZs first e46 manual conversion. You have the proper EGS / DME software and all sensors / bits needed to do it.

Also have this confusion going on... Would rather get rid of my aftermarket alarm in favour of the OEM unit. Having two engine immobilisers causes more problems with the lock system than its worth.
-
f**k dude, I'm glad shes ok.
-
nice one .. cheers for the post

please refer locked topic http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=17920 thread closed as this has been discussed to death in said thread. sorry guys.

ahh well he just earned himself + 4 warning points for that one.... one more and hes banned.

so nice ... well done!

Good old lack of oil change .... Oil breaks down .. owner just puts new (usually crap or incorrect grade) oil in. Good to see your covered though! Atleast you get a mint car with known good engine out of it!
-
Yeah, they go for ever when you maintain them properly .. not always easy with imports as you truely dont know if they have been looked after properly... im sure Apex will jump in here at some point With imports if you can afford it ... getting a reasonible low K one or one that is low ks into NZ and higher NZ k's with service history is sometimes an easy way out of that problem.
-
hahaha .. you sound as tollerant as me when it comes to modern BMWs. Ive had basically the same luck as you. My old e36 was the worst ... ex singpore model with the singapore rot.
-
ahh well, atleast your covered Try having a auto gearbox blowing its load and loosing reverse gear on you
-
Hmmm with out the linch going on. You might want to phone their customer services manager and tell them this and see what they will do about it. They might even go to refund some of the money you spent on it. I do agree they should of picked that up, as thats what your paying good money for them to pick up. but dont broode over it ... ring them and tell them about it.
-
Good work, and good on you for not procrastinating about it. Will say one thing, pre purchase inspections are really useful for this reason. Get both main and big end bearings done at the same time. Might be a good time to get the rest of the engine refreshed if they are cracking the head open. (rings / hone etc etc)

Get it done properly at a panel shop dude. Especially on a car with car dark coloured paint.

Most Jap cars come with Alpine built head units. What you need is one of the philips 'world' head units (look almost identical) I have one for sale at the moment that I used before the Nav install. Its in excellent order. Don't use a band expander.
