or start looking in the right places for wheel design. To find the actual width and offset, take the wheel of and you should see it stamped on the inside of the spokes. youll see something like 8.5j and et35 (standard bbs offset for e36's with 8.5 inch rims) or something like that.
  2. Car cover orrrrrr get some of this sh*t I have here. Its industrial grade cat repellant. I have a bucket here... lace the property with it and what ever you do .. do get it on your hands ... youll smell like mothballs for ever.
  3. hahah .. cool, put it this way .. I got mine with black leather and the paint job I wanted and thats about it. From there I installed satnav, full m3 OEM kit, alots of metal work to the body, got the horrible wood grain trim re done in alloy silver, Multi functional steering, forged wheels and full suspension upgrade including sway bars, coupe seats on sedan carriers, suspersprint exhuast, euro OEM clear rear lights, euro clear side markers and HID 8k with DDE head lights and a bunch of other minor stuff like Ipod intergration blah... Easiest and cheapest thing I learnt is that getting it all at the time of sale is the best way to go however the retrofit thing is all OEM so its not some rangi tack on crap. Retrofitting is what BMW calls re visisting the factory options list again
  4. Good choice .... I have a sedan and it is mighty handy. Grab the m-sport if you can. and yes.. Multi Function Steering makes all the difference. remember he can retrofit any option down the track but the motorsport kit new your looking about 5-6k to do it with new parts.
  5. m54b30 which is cuppled to this Get a BMW "pre-purchase inspection" done at Jerry Claytons or Team McMillian or maybe even call our forum sponsor Glenn at botany motor works wwhom Im sure does one too. Its about a 1 million times beter because it checks everything and the gotcha's with BMW vehicles better than getting a generic AA report done which just checks for basic problems.
  6. you just posted two yourself ... have a look at the transim on the rear bumper thats started to appear. e46 = old style = gapped rear bumper e90 = new style = bumper is part of the rear transim and side quaters. =
  7. Sure thing .. I can understand why people diss the germans. But they really are the first to come up with shapes that define the next 5 - 8 years in trend. Have a look at the gapless rear bumper design. This where instead of the panel line meeting under the number plate the bumpers have now become more of the side and rear unibody in an effort to smooth lines. Audi and BMW were the first to do this. The rest followed. Holden took designs from Audi in the form of the tail lights, stole the m3/rs4 gaurds .. stole the e46 m3 front qauter profile (badly). glued all these things together in the american way. A bit like what Dodge and Crysler do with the yanky SUV market. the e60 and e65/66 pretty much defined a whole decade of motor vehicle. Weather you liked the bangle design or not .. not many people can say that one designer would influence a whole decade.
  8. Why? its been around since the e30 m3 / 8 series / m1. The crappy thing I find is BMW / Audi set the trend and others follow. Take the new honda accord, a bad rip off from the e60. I cringe even time I see a new lexus / Holden / honda / . .......... They are bad implementations of german car manufactures.
  9. Feel like making an e46 and e30 ? ... Would be very handy for seeing what race car graphics look like in 3d very very nice work btw.

  11. Keep that inner boot trim for the Nav loading area. Its worth about $300 new! ps .. we need some feral drifting e46's .. the lime light has been hogged by e30's for too long
  12. Set of rings and hone / head / vanos and valve seats wouldnt be that bad to get done if you did get it.
  13. I hate put a downer on the article and should just probably say something positive but the Horse Power Freaks Turbo e46 m3 has been far more impressive than any of the SC manufactures. Even Active Autowerks has even been left in the dust with their '1000hp' SC m3 system over the new 'stage3' HPF system. Very nice install and custom plenium however. I guess the article is titled wrong. They should review one of these http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/pictures/BMW/M3/11574 thanks for posting the article though .. much appreciated
  14. One of the clips probably have been broken. Two options when that happens is A ) buy new part B ) uses Panel 'gum' which is like a very strong bluetak.
  15. And then you actually take one for a drive I nearly made the same mistake and was glad I waited the extra 3months and saved my pennys for the 330i over the 325. Sound advice, if you want to get into an e46 try a bunch out of all types. There are enough people willing to test drive so it wont be hard.
  16. heh .. the ASC button is indeed annouying when on the edge .. on the track I leave it off so I dont loose throttle in the corners.
  17. The face lift was the 02 onwards. Try to get a motorsport if you can afford it. If not maybe look into a m54b30 as the double vanos really does make all the difference. The 330 cars come with bigger brakes and are again that much better than the other models. the 328 (m54b28) motor is also good. Again the options with a e46 are endless, key things are: Leather, Multifunctional steering wheel and maybe even the 16:9 Nav screen (makes for cheapish nav conversion to NZ/Euro) and Motorsport mtech' bumpers and side skirts (saves you having to do it later on as second hand parts are pretty much none existent in this country. With the auto thing, as other say its really not a big deal with the bigger motor and especially for daily driving in Auckland traffic the auto is really a must. But the choice is obviously up to you The after market scene is huge for e46's lots of online US retailers that have some quality stuff for these cars. One last thing, after owning a bunch of 2 door cars then moving to a 4 door .. practicality rules this one that and 4 door chassis is stiffer. Again is your choice. Just make your descion of what you want to use the car for and go from there.
  18. Some would say bullet proof
  19. Motat are trying to build there own one at the moment ... Im impressed with the Auckland Museums Japenese Zero and Spitfire displays .. very impressive
  20. Nice work ... whats the new country of origin ?
  21. awesome stuff. Will PM you and swap some details. thanks Josh
  22. Hey guys, We are shooting our music video on the 15th and 16th of Oct and are in need of a black or dark coloured 7 series. e38 or even e65/66 I would be used by our production company in a professional manner and hold four of us + driver with camera gear attached to the car (suction cupped as not to damage the paint this is an Auckland shoot any takers ?
