So this has been in the wings for a number of years. I was very lucky to get a tow hitch carrier of Ray @ HellBM and installed it with him a few years a go with the intention of buying the tow ball attachment. I searched in vein to find one second hand but after many failed attempts I forgot all about it. Recently I have started cycling after running was doing me mild injury. The need srpung back up to get the tow situation sorted out. I remembered that Jason ( Flow ) had completed a Westfalia install on his 540. Jason was very kind to lend me his tow hitch for me to check fitment. After phoning the New Zealand Westfalia agents, it unforunately confirmed my suspicions, they want $900 for just the tow hitch So off to Schmiedmann to try and order just the tow hitch which they didnt have on catalog, only the whole carrier kit. I dealt with Andrew at Schmiedmann and after some back and forth we managed to find the right number and a much better 300 euro + shipping was quoted. I also ordered the Mtech2 rear valance with tow flap for my motorsport bumper. Below is some of the efforts.

Seriously .. I think your should leave it be. It sounds amazing .. and that doesnt happen too often. Everyone else outside can just get over it. However I think youll find everyone on the outside will be saying how badass it sounds.
-
Yeah it will be ... nice work.

You are probably looking at sand and casting one up. There is an outfit in Glenfield who have a foundry who can do such things. Its not cheap however and would will still need to get the rough cast milled to spec. Still a lot cheaper than CNC. I have a friend who makes parts for race cars and he produces stuff through these guys for the race market.

Its Group-N software .. pretty much the best for a standard engine. Lots of people dont tune the VANOS controller so its good to see this is included.

Dont worry, its going to be an e21 version of my e30

Three more projects going on at the moment. Need to get them complete ..

I had one outside my work the one day I drove in ... I closed the door and the ticket flopped over .. I took photos of everything and sent it in straight away .. took about 2-3 weeks but got over turned and I didnt have to pay. The process does work if youre in the right. Just takes f*********cken ages.

Yeah .. the thing with official records .. they dont always reflect reality. Not ragging on any ones facts posted here.. just over time things change and claims around weather cars were NZ and not NZ new are thrown around. EG imports from aussie that are called NZ new. PS posted something I found in my email about early F1 specs ... sitting in the general forum.

An old email I was sent with the BMW M Motorsport techincal information Sam Tremwan dug all this up
-
Sam will have it .. there is a spread sheet he has with quite a bit of this research on it. Will see if I can find it in my email.
-
Yeah do it .. Brendons working on his car too. So will make an effort to head down to this years one.

I got asked if I wanted this as a present recently .. I said honestly, no offense but I drive the e30 ALOT faster and hard than that at track days and TBH a big old heavy Lambo/Ferrari would bore the sh*t outta me. Even some track days are getting a bit too amateur these days due to how many people are attending and trying to cater for all driver levels. The fast cars are only let out every hour or so and limited to the number cars allowed on the track. Not cool when you get all of the heros from the slow sessions trying to do a sub 1:20 using up all of the spaces. It then becomes a scramble for who can get in line and sit in a full race suit in the sun for 20mins. *sigh* I know what my friends are going to say however haha .. bring it into the race series then.

OEM-BMW parts from ebay in USA 1/3 the cost of NZ. WHY?
hybrid replied to kulgan's topic in General Discussion
hahaha yeah, they care when people cotton on and go else where. However, these stores work off conveniance/weekend warrior factor. For me, BM Workshop Parts division or Euro Italian for parts these days. While theyre only a few dollars more expensive than ebay or other etailers overseas, feel good factor in supporting the locals and theyre in stock 95% of the time. Way cheaper than the retailers with superior product OEM or OE. -
SL4s are all good... Looks like a good kit. However I have seen/driven what OEM rotors/calipers and pagid rs29 pads can do as well on an e36 m3. Seriously epic.

Rotors are made from a lot higher grade steel and floating for reduced thermal transfer to the drive line. Calipers are monoblock and of superior piston design for large even clamping force to utilise all areas of the pads, this also stops expansion of the calipers. Also have an easy out system generally for the quick change of pads among other things.
