Sweet!... bout to Install the rest of the Westifalia detachable tow kit on mine complete with purpose made motorsport rear valance which is on its way from Denmark as we speak. Been meaning to have the tow bar situation sorted on the 540 for ever. You can laugh at those little Japanese things and pat them on the head for being cheeky and say something like awww thats cute .. its trying make a joke.

Removing cat on E36 M3 3.0 ?
hybrid replied to Beeker2's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
PM me for details. It seems you have an early build e36 .. you may not need it. An aftermarket tune (which is different) and done at the end of your modifications on a dyno is probably what you want. If you're wanting race car setup, Do it once / do it right ... here is mine for the s50b32, car dynoed at 205kw at the wheels (325bhp) with just the exhuast and intake modified .. no tune. I have since put a bolt in / bolt out centre muffler / straight pipe section. Straight pipes for the track and centre muffler for warrents, I mean road. I would spend the $$$ on thin walled stainless, it really has great heat dissipation benefits. Bling, certainly not .. however there are plenty of systems out there that claim to be a race exhaust and are just loud and dont produce any power. Infact the oppersite. S50bXX engines are very sensitive to headers and mid pipe design. Anything that is stuffed up in these areas is where you can win or loose power. At the time I went with the advice of a dyno tuner to not go to 2 1/2 and stick with 2 inch all the way through to the back to retain torque. The 3.0 benefits from a good intake and exhuast system and a tune. -
Removing cat on E36 M3 3.0 ?

With the stock ECU you will need to have the ECU flashed for no cats. Removing the cats without having this done will cause the ECU to run more fueling. The other way is having it tuned out. bang your VIN into this, it may already not be an issue .. look for decatted option. If not you'll need the above. There are a couple of people in Auckland who can do this .. myself included. I'm not sure out of town however. -
Nah .. its says 7pm today for us.

Yeah, the server runs a few websites. One of them being my bands site

Yes and yes was moved. In other news, if you could all give the site a bit of a thrash .. all of the posting issues and new user problems should be fixed now .. Sing out if your not getting mail from private messages etc. oh .. also should now be lightning quick ... massive thanks to Jamez for spending his weekend moving everything to the new host.
-
I was pretty suprised they didnt close the streets with noobs driving everywhere like they and everyone else sh*t is invisible.
-
Just cause everyone loves it ... James and myself are moving the site to its new server arrangement. This should stop all of the naff things that have been going on aorund the site such as triple posting, hanging when posting, PM lockups, New Users ability to register amoung probably many other things. The site will probably be down at a few points in the weekend while stuff is moved around and DNS plays catchup.

Your modification isnt legal without LVVT certification technically. NZTA is more or less just a blanket every day law and not the authority on modifications to road vehicles. Putting HID into housings that where not designed for it is illegal. I understand youre techincally wanting to put the projector assembly into the housing, but the law doesnt cater for it so takes the default of its not allowed. In reality though you could risk it and may or may not get pulled over and asked about it or face issues at warrent time and be asked produce a Low Volume cert for the modification. At cert time the cert engineer may or may not care about it. Most do to any modification and apply their ruling to it. Also what is written down for public consumption doesnt always describe entirely what the LVVT publish out to its sanctioned engineers, hence the reason why some people get a suprise when they do get a cert. Best advice, talk to a Low Volume Engineer in the first instance. The internet is only a guide, but not the rule unfortunately. -
Just get it repainted... There is some good interior paints around .. I got mine done at precision autowerks in black .. and it matched perfectly with the top part.

I agree, would much rather buy a car thats had it dealt with than not. Top notch work as usual

hmm its has more to do with the glare mask which is setup for left hand driving not right hand driving. They arent too hard to modify to work just flip the masks on both. Had to do this with my 330 xenon p46 head lights. You are right about the fact that if its picked up at warrent time you have a problem. I would only be modifying a second set of lights not your OE ones. -

Nah, but been looking at them for the e30. Bit of a mission by the looks to make fit. -
Yeah plenty, just nothing to show in public yet ... basically gearing up for a heavy testing seaons with some of the race series guys. At the moment working on supporting other ECUs outside of BMW. EG Autronic, Link, MAP2,3 etc Fire me a PM to discuss further .. you probably fit the bill for testing.

Owed both .. 330i is a lot more sporty in the twistys and you can really through them around. However the 540 has the power over the 330. Get a true motorsport in either model if your wanting it for a fun car. 330 for twisties. 540 for open road.
