Though i would put this in general due to short notice. Taupo motorsport park has decided to put on a couple of events this week. im going to take the 540i down, cant do to much damage in 1 hour. apparently these will be a regular occurrence now but im guessing the first day will be more fun due to hopefully less people.

i have seen them on trademe in the past but none there now by the looks. should find them on ebay etc. seem to recall that it was scarles dealer on trademe doing them so might be worth a shot. or have someone machine them.
-
followed a mondeo yesterday with them on was so bright i couldn't make out his turn signals or brake lights, that being said i watched him run 2 stop signs then disappear into the distance doing well over 80 in a 50 zone. so yea mondeo driver

i have removed quite a few cats and never had issues, performance cand standard cars. at worst people recommend an o2 spacer for the post cat sensor. this pulls the o2 out of the direct flow so it still measures the same gas but doesnt have issues with the extra gas speed.
-
probably couldnt hurt, if you are doing o2 sensors anyway just do this before you install the new ones. and get rid of the cats if it has them, they are good for sweet frig all

if anyone decides to split the trim into three stripes and put the bmw M colours on it... i will come to your house and i will hurt you, then i may burn your car.
-
seems like such an obvious upgrade im surprised bmw didnt see the failing in their design,

the rise and fall happens on most bmws its the system checking the adjusters. i have an e39 540i with standard hb4 bulbs, the lights dip down then up when i first turn them on.
-
i have seem people building new seats and they use a steam gun. possibly those new steam mops could be modified to work.
-
doesnt appear to which is strange, i left mine unplugged on the 540i ran like crap but no check codes.
-
ive never really looked into them but does anyone made a good 240v version? looking at the price difference between a 18v Liion drill vs 240v wall socket they are much cheaper with more grunt a power cord wouldnt be that much or a hassel in the garage, especially vs an air hose.
-
looks mint. bellicose just made me think how good this would look when someone rat rods an e39, coat the wood with iron oxide for the rusted look. would confuse the crap out of people. not sure how you could do it, electrocoat?
-
also yes it will run without the cover attached. but what ever is missing if you dont have the MAFs connected it will not run good Air fuel ratios and even small amounts of running arent the greatest for the o2 sensors or cats so i would avoid it, also the possibility for something small to fall down a inlet tube.

iridium is meant to fire a hotter spark as it concentrates the discaharge to a smaller point. this must be made of iridium to stop it melting. hence 100k plugs vs 50k max for copper makes a hotter spark so better burn so better power. having a hotter spark point means its less likely to get carbon biuld up as it can burn through the crap. this gives a more consistant spark load which is also better for the coil packs. much of the pice differenc eis due to the price of platinum or iridium and also the bigger task to build the plug with more heat resistant metals. well worth it in my opinion iridium is worth between $10000 USD and $30000 USD a kilo depending on purity.

i especially like the tv surround, even if you stuck with wood thats worth doing black IMO
-
very sexy. what paint did you use? i would be tempted to try a slightly darker red, the original pic i believe was a very thin leather wrap if i recall correctly. that being said the satin finish would do that too. though i can 100% say in now hate my wood trim

wow awesome to see someone taking liability. im sick of manhole covers sticking out or sitting 3 inchs below the road surface after resealing. imagine a standard steel sump most drivers wouldnt notice and by the time they ruined the engine they would be so far away they couldnt prove anything.

^^^ this i changed plugs today on my 540i got ngk bkr6equp. like the bkr6eix but four prong instead of two. either will do it though. and either are recomended. old plugs were good but going 4 prong has made it alot more torquey
-
that looks cool.
-
also just a quick lesson i learnt the hard way on an e32. dont start the car or even put the key in when the dash is disconnected, it will set off the airbag and abs lights and you will have to get the codes reset.
-
i like your pic of the red interior accents, though to fully replicate that look i suggest you get a manual gearbox.... also pics please?????
-
i always use rubber grease on orings, makes everything slide together. it must be specific rubber grease, vaseline or normal grease will break down the rubber. got some from bnt for like $12 couple of years back

i need a tail light for a car and also a windscreen for a thing. i have money or beer or stuff for trade. what are you after?
-
yea sounds like a faulty sensor, very common to play up after windscreen replacement, my e39 has a sensor but seems to sit on a set interval regardless of the rain. dial is meant to set sensitivity.
