pitstop hamilton pushed the front arm bushes in on my e38 couple of years back. they crushed the center piece of alloy in the press and bent it all to hell. Had to drill it out straight to get a bolt in but then it didnt seat on the car well and every month or so would start moving and make a horrible moaning noise, had to keep re torquing it up i hit them up when i went to pick up the arms and they just shrugged it off, even charged me more than quoted.

depends how far your budget stretches. most often its cheaper to buy an m3 or similar than convert engines in, especially a 318I to start with you will not really be able to reuse the brakes or rear end if you are going for a track car have a read of some of the threads on here to figure out what you really need to do. the thread on compact rally car should help you. my sum up if you want to spend under 20K buy a 328, 330 or m3 and fettle it if you want to spend over 20K you will only use the shell of the car really.

its all a balance of extra effort to view the car and find out what its actually like vs less competition/ lower price

tridon are great. George stocks are getting pretty good too but as most bushes they stock are no longer rubber they are limited by aftermarket suppliers not producing for 5 and 7 series. There is a new shop out who does massive amounts of euro bushes, mounts even rubber intake hoses. but because its a small start up my upper managment are being reluctant to deal with them, hopefully it will change soon.

I manage a retail car parts store and i am constantly disgusted at the attitudes from some major part suppliers in new zealand. Most have absolutly no interest in stocking parts for euro cars. These are wholesalers with staff numbers into the 50s+ They will either fob us off or if they stock parts will charge heaps as they dont sell many... cruel cycle there as they dont sell many due to high prices. I can look at wholesale cost price excluding gst and already its still much more than importing, including freight. Some are turning it around, many are expanding their range and lowering prices year after year. still a while off competing with the big american and euro companies but local parts have the next day advantage on their side

most tap water is ok. bore water is horrible, leaves calcium deposits and i have seen it block water galleries and cook a motor. usually if water leaves residue when washing the car dont touch it. pukekohe is bad for mineral deposits. distilled water is cheap

could be a faulty sensor, though if you have been driving hard or for a long time it could be the oil thinning out to much and losing pressure. better to stay safe than assume its faulty and keep driving

could you not argue that you havent driven the house?

i had a 740i that went into limp mode one day when i was crawling up a very steep hill at 5kph behind a truck (stupid hill in cambridge) pulled over turned car off, restarted and it went fine, never missed a beat again. think it was the slow pull made it think gearbox blew? dunno

coasting can cause issues with vacuum being strong enough to cause vac leaks on the intake, this can make it run lean and throw out your mixtures but the ecu should be able to manage this, shouldnt screw the o2s clear codes drive and see if codes reappear.
-
could be a fuel pressure issue? i thought each side of O2 sensors had their own entire circuit of heaters with separate relays etc so shouldn't be common so have the same errors on all the sensors.
-
cars that still run well dont usually have that much rust on the rotors. would pass.
-
if its doing it in sitting traffic it could be crank angle sensors or coils etc many of these things seem to affected by heat so the lack of airflow might push the temps up. though you would expect codes from them i would do your maintenance first and see if it disappears

alot of variables to be seen on the sway bar being mounted to the strut. Bear in mind that they are very strong as they dont experience a massive amount of movement. if the strut turning outwards lifts swaybar say 20mm and it turning in on the other side drops it 20mm you will have alot of tension going through the bar resisting the steering forces. This will make the steering heavier and less responsive as a results. it also means wheel movements will try to push the steering, so body roll will try to take the steering away from you. this is only a relevant problem if the sway bar moves opposite directions at each end at any point of steering lock/suspension compression. so i would be jumping under the car and watching the bar while someone winds on lock. do it at full droop, standard height and compressed, if you have the springs off that is. mr2s mount to the strut and have no issues. personally i would fix it to the lower arm, as it only moves in one direction and is easier to eliminate if you have weird handing issues,

fisker was doing badly then had an entire shipment of uninsured karmas flooded during hurricane sandy. this caused a couple to burst into flames and torch quite a few others. almost crippled the company but they have had a few donations from people who want to see electric cars thrive.

I cant speak to this forums setup but most forums will try to avoid ever deleting someones account as it then deletes every post they have ever made which can throw off the flow of some common threads. May be a case of totally locking the account, but wait and see
