  1. Too old & doesn't like the way they look Plus Brent keeps swiping all the bloody V8s!
  2. I keep pointing out to her that she's never gotten carsick in the back seat of a BMW, every time she's sat in the back of Nigel she hurls chunks. So far my logic seems compelling!
  3. +1 You'd have more success buying the car for the kit and on selling once you've swapped out what you want
  4. If you can, take it to Glenn ^^^ at Botany Motor Worxx. Nice guy, knows his sh*t & won''t try and rip you off. If you're inclined to do so, follow Graham & Glenns advice. If not, take it to a workshop
  5. Extremely tempting. Will chat to the boss tonight, hopefully bring her for a look this weekend if suitable
  6. Still working on the Mrs Think she's starting to warm to the idea. How soon are you looking to move on it?
  7. Now that's a nice price! Bookmarked
  8. Far more effective to tax it into oblivion. Seems prohibition isn't as effective in practice as it is in theory. Or at least it wasn't with alcohol in the past. Or cannabis, meth and party drugs presently, for that matter. Hike the price of a pack of Marlboros up to $40 overnight, and watch Philip Morris & BAT go bust in a month. Agree with the OP though. Imagine a zero alcohol related road toll.............
  9. Isn't it tempting fate to have a perfect paint job on a drift car?
  10. Jesus thats cheap!! Any car over 350000km would need a bit of love in the suspension dept I'd imagine. Bushes & bearings etc, but if the motors been serviced regularly & quality consumables used it'll most likely be good for a fair while yet. Most engines are capable of 500,000km+ if they are treated well & get a lot of open road running. Turbo bearings & seals run the possibility of having seen better days but I'm sure Mr Murch would happily deal with that if it were a problem. Actually he'd probably add a few torques & Horsepowers for good measure Might have to show this to wifey actually..........
  11. Uhhhmmm I assume so. Only undid the plug, wasn't keen on pulling the sensor out of the exhaust. Figured it would only go back together one way - is it possible to align the wrong pins??
  12. Hadn't forgotten mate Might just take ya up on the offer. Chur
  13. Pelican parts stock genuine OEM units. Works out to about $150ish for a leather E36 one as opposed to the $240 the TM BMW rip you off I mean charge for. http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/catalog/shopcart/BE30/POR_BE30_Tshift_pg3.htm#item13
  14. Yup, did think it was a bit odd. Haven't come across a similar problem in any other conversion threads I've seen around the internets. Will be very interested to discover what the cause is
  15. I was under the impression noise filters are introduced to compensate for crappy HU earthing? Have seen them on installs before but never as part of the manufacturers loom. Bang the new unit in, if it hums then set up the filter
  16. Hi guys I've noticed a pronounced 'flat spot' in between 3 - 3.5k rpm in second gear since ditching the Jatco for the Getrag. Kinda feels like its underfuelling? Strangely it only seems to happen when pulling away from low speeds (i.e accelerating from a railway crossing etc) and only noticeable so far in 2nd. Aside from a noisy clutch on the aircon pump the motor is quiet, no known issues there. Is this a hangover from using the auto ecu? Is there something odd going on with my vanos? Injectors, fuel pump, coil packs? Fuel consumption has noticeably dropped since the changeover so I'm assuming spark plugs aren't the trouble here. It was introducing a fuel cut above 3500 rpm until I realized I neglected to plug the speedo sender back into the diff (doh!) and yes I did remember to plug the o2 sensor back in once I reinstated the exhaust. Idle is nice and smooth. Am scratching my head quite a bit over this TIA!

+1 Houndstooth beats leather like rock beats scissors. Just wish that E36s had a nice cloth option for sports seats, all the non leather jobbies look like they were trimmed by the Nissan cabin designers
  18. Where in Southland are you? IIRC the Invercargill (GWDs??) Toyota dealership also has the BMW service franchise. Could be worth a ring
  19. E46 M3 DSG 'vert on aftermarket (I'm assuming Volk) 19s in Newmarket this morning, vanity tags read "VOLK". Noticed an intercooler lurking behind the stock front bumper, anyone know what the mods are? Nice colour!
  20. LVV Certification is always required for any engine or drive-train-related modifications unless specified below: (if modification does not appear below, always refer to LVV Certifier) Fitting of or modification to: LVV Certification is not required provided that: (refer to LVV Certifier if beyond threshold below) Substitution of engines  When compared with the OE engine, the replacement engine:  is of the same or less cubic capacity; and  has equal or less weight; and  has the same or less power output; and  uses the same fuel (petrol, diesel, LPG, CNG); and  uses the same unmodified attachment points and system (ie bolts-in); and  uses the same family of block and cylinder head from the same vehicle manufacturer; and  is of the same configuration. Reckon you'd need to have a trainspotter of a WoF inspector to pick up the difference between the B40 & B42! But yes, technically it should be certified However if the vehicle has been converted from auto to manual using ONLY OEM parts and with no modification to the car it does not require certification. I had a good long chat with the certifier the father-in-law uses before commencing on the 325i conversion. Better safe than failed!
  21. Bwahaha, only posted last week that you'd sooner find gold in Takapuna Beach than see a set of Vaders come up for sale.....doh! What chance of the headers being up for grabs??
  22. TBH I'd keep them! You would make a little money if you sold the houndstooth but a mint condition leather interior doesn't come so cheap either. As Andy says, the fabric has been out of production for a while now - reckon you'd regret it if you flicked them off
