20mm ish gap between guibo & flange. FFS IIRC the donor was a eary - mid 1993 325 coupe. Did have the VIN at one stage but the file seems to have been lost in the course of moving house.
-
Next question. There's a sizeable gap between the input flange of the driveshaft & the guibo. What have I overlooked? Or have I been sent an incorrect DS?
-
Is there any difference in driveshaft length between E36 sedan & coupes? Just tried to install the new DS and discovered once bolted to the diff the guibo bolts don't even contact the input flange
-
Hmmm. what parts might you be looking for?
-
Don't worry mate, that thought has crossed my mind more than once in the last few weeks Will call tomorrow

Angry sounding little sucker too!

Nice to see someone using it as a car & not just a status symbol Jealous as hell! Welcome aboard

Kim Dotcom has plenty to answer for!!

Got the final bolts for starter & gearbox in. Got lucky & found a bleed screw at the local grease monkey. Discovered the shifter arm rear mounting bush is missing. Got rather p*ssed off. Started scratching my head to work out where the ell I find a new one

Easiest to start with a 3,15 open & jam a limited slip center in. Teardown is easy & as long as you use the same shims in the same place they came from it works fine. Just best to confirm lash with some paste to be 100% confident. Throw the open center back into the donor diff & make back a little of your expenses

Or just leave it stock, I'm sure these will begin to appreciate soon 10.5k seems rather reasonable given the photos make it look near concours standard!

Managed to extract the busted nipple this evening. Much to my dismay the brakes use a different size thread. I'm struggling to come up with ideas on this one. Anyone know where to source these things? Pelican parts has drawn a blank & I don't have the time to go trawling through pick-a-part. Last time I buy parts sight unseen. Grrrrrrrrrr
-
Hmmm. Is that just an M3 thing?
-
While installing the slave cylinder I noticed the bleed nipple has snapped off part number 21521116360 Or a new slave assembly. TIA!

Got it in. Turns out Jatcos are good for something after all - the trans input shaft makes a perfect clutch alignment tool with a little insulation tape Now to figure out how to realign the damn starter motor
-
Crap. Yup, new input & throwout bearings. How difficult should it be to seat the gearbox? I'm wondering if I just haven't quite got it lined up properly. Can't see bugger all as it's on ramps :s

Laugh at me if you will, but I'm having a nightmare trying to get the Getrag in Anyone have any useful tips? Can get it to within 15mm of the block but no further. Whats the trick? Getting desperate here!

Both are stunners......... but can someone please explain to me the logic in building a barnstormer of a car and then tearing the roof off? Surely the loss in structural rigidity would dull what is otherwise one of the best handling cars (without delving into supercar territory) to have emerged from the 90's? Plus the extra weight ( I assume) from extra chassis bracing to compensate for the missing roof would surely compromise power to weight ratios? Don't get me wrong, if someone threw me the keys I'd own one in less than a heartbeat, but if you're going to shell out 25k you'd be looking for the best performance for your dollar?

Not bullshit after all, eh?

After a cover plate/ flexplate for E36 manual conversion
Ahmedsinc replied to richard's topic in Want to buy
Only difference I could see is the manual doesn't have the hole on the right side to allow access to the torque convertor bolts. Could be possible to rivet a patch over the auto hole if you can't source one? -
Glad to see the tribunal treated their actions with due contempt. Crossed fingers they don't try to f**k you about with awarded damages man!

Flywheel & clutch in, then lost two hours trying to install clutch line in spaces too small to fit my hands. Eventually succeeded, started to remove diff and discovered how tight the half shaft bolts are. Discovered I'm out of penetrating oil. Drank a beer

Think you need to change your "By content type" to 'the past 24 hours. I did the same thing and wondered if I wasn't allowed to look at older stuff anymore too
