Or a fully optioned M325i with no damage to interior and a complete bodykit. If C0SM0S sold for $850............................
-
Good to know, was under the impression they used different lengths.

Made some significant weight savings

Hopefully the missing ones can be supplemented with the torx from the auto. Or it'll be off to visit Brent again. Not that it's a bad thing. Do want both his wagons!

Often see a Hellrot E30 320i estate sitting pretty on what appear to be 15"weaves on the run between Drury & Waiuku. Can't get a pic cos my van keeps getting blown off the road by gales Anyones on here? Likey likey!

Starter bolts put up little resistance. The clever lads in Germany used nuts with a 'stepped' pattern on the underside of the nut so it grips the mounting surface better. Not taking as much force to crack them as I thought, just sucks when you realise you've missed two studs at the top of the bellhousing when ya think you've got them all out. Not sure how I'm gonna squeeze my arm up to get 'em but that's a problem for another day. Oh well. Nobody said it was gonna be easy!
-
Well that explains it. I've only got 7 of the 9 Torx out. Which in turn means the kit I bought is missing two bolts. (Was comparing bolts removed from car with pile of bits that came with conversion kit) Motherf***er Back under the car tomorrow then. Thanks James!

Oh poo. I was hoping you weren't gonna say that. I did notice a 10mm holding the trans shim to the bellhousing, is that the one you're thinking of? Or is it at the top? (Please dont say it's at the top)

Hey guys. Anyone have any tips when it comes to wrestling the old auto out of the car? I've pulled all the bolts, unbolted the torque convertor from the flywheel but I just can't get the bastard to let go. With a large flatblade & my estwing I can get the bottom to prise away from the block by 10mm but that's it. So close and yet still so far

Yup, grabbed a set of Torx sockets from Sulco in anticipation. Just grumpy & sore after 9 hours under the car (yes, I know I'm slow!) plus I wanted a beer. What's the trick with getting the starter bolts? Is t worth tapping a thread into the Getrag bellhousing to make it easier next time? Or will the alloy not stand up to the torque?

Tore out a bunch of useless auto crap. Spilt a heap of ATF on the shed floor. Cleaned it up while muttering under my breath about Jatco. Wondered how to get the last two bellhousing bolts & starter bolts out. Gave up and drank beer.

Eibach springs & scraping bumper
Ahmedsinc replied to Ahmedsinc's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Cheers for the input guys. Didn't think the seller gave me the wrong info about the ride height, but it's been that long since I bothered using lowering springs I'd forgotten how low these buggers get! Useful info on the measurements, will pop down and check that out tonight. No scraping of the car to date but it's not something I'm to keen on risking. Might have to find some M spec coils or go back to standard -
Hey guys. Scored a set of Bilsteins & matched Eibachs off one of our members a few months ago, finally got to put them in the car about a month back. While it looks tits I have noticed that I scrape the standard non - Motorsport front bumper on basically everything thats taller than 40mm off FGL. Before After Was told the springs were "Lows", and as much as I love the ride height and quality (REALLY comfortable springs!) I'm more than a little worried I'm gonna nail the radiator into something immobile fairly soon. The Bilsteins are definitely not shortened, measurements were the same from stock to new units. Does the second photo seem a typical ride height for low springs? As can be seen there was a significant drop in height from the standard coils. Is it possible they're a bit lower than 'low'? Or am I just getting too old? Not keen on replacing them if I can help it, but living in a semi - rural area with typical poo quality roads the chance of doing something terminal is fairly high. Will dig up some part numbers off the new springs if they'll be of any use. No known tyre rub, 225/45 on style 159 17 x 8", ET34. As always, TIA

Possibly a knock-on effect from jump starting the car? I know nothing of E38s other than the electronic wizardry starting getting fairly complex from then on. Perhaps Hotwire would have a theory?

For those of us that are still n00b at bimmers, I'd sooner spend the 9 bucks that run the risk of cocking it up like I usually do

Mint! Ones on its way via auto clutch. Cheers for the tip

Bump! Drew a blank with sterling brake & clutch surely someone must have one I could buy /borrow? Pleeeeease?
-
Did read that somewhere, but knowing how gumby I am with delicate stuff I thought it best to just get everything out of the way I could possibly destroy! Fingers crossed the alignment tool will come Wed, new main seal about the same time. Now, onto hoisting the car off the floor with only one jack god I hate this bit!!

Finally made a start

Bloody hell, that's a cheap project!

Wow, slick work! Kinda like moving into a brand new house eh!

Anyone got one they don't need anymore? Or insider tips on where to find one without being quoted the $47 TM BMW came up with on Thurs arvo? Cheers!
-
How long ago did you get yours? Mine came with a plastic bung which so far seems ok.
