  1. Ditto, the LSD alone is worth nearly half the purchase price! Do it!
  2. Christ that thing's quick!! Looks like fun!
  3. Cheap source of parts if you were looking for a radiator & leather interior. Plus you'd get spare electrics and whatever you raised for scrap. Not sure why people get up in arms about cars being trashed. After all, it is only a car, and the 520i is fairly equal to a camry.......

    E30 Wagon

Agreed. Well worth tidying up though. It's not like they're making any more of them!

    E30 Wagon

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-602459885.htm Could be worth a looky
  6. Hmm. Shipping comes back at around the $250 mark less any duties I get stung with. Seems the thoretical limit for duty value is $250 but practically they leave it at $400 courtesy of de minimis. Might as well wait and hope that someone has a 188mm limited slip centre that they will sell for a price that isn't criminal. I suspect I'm gonna get a lot older before that happens though. Thanks guys
  7. How poked is the drivers seat? Got any photos?
  8. Have got my eye on a limited slip diff centre, illuminated shift knob and a couple other bits and pieces. Total cost would be around NZ$500 before shipping. All used parts through private sellers
  9. Looking at bringing a couple of things over from the US and A through private sellers. Has anyone here done this? What are the options for shipping? Am concerned about buyer protection as well. I'm guessing a private sale wouldn't attract import duties? Or have I got that one wrong? Any experiences shared would be most welcome
  10. You and my father in law would get along well - he grafted two accident damaged Hunters together to make a two door wagon about 20-something years back Still drives it today too! welcome aboard! You may want to give the cooling system some loving before you take it to the track though. And go easy on them brakes. A mate of mine completely baked rotors, pads and a front hose on his E34 540i in less than three laps around Pukekohe
  11. You'd think spammers would at least post something car related on a BMW forum. *facepalm*
  12. 10 large is a bit much for a car thats already run up 250,000 ks in my books. Yeah, the rarity factor is there but ultimately it's an otherwise standard 540 that just happens to be stick shift. At those miles it'll be due some fairly hefty suspension work and a fair bit of preventative maintenance under the bonnet. Then again I am a tight bugger - perhaps other people would see it as cheap?
  13. 13/100 sounds fairly close for a nearly 2 tonne 12 year old car with a 3 litre I6 driven pleasantly. Big cars tend to have matching appetites. Give it hotter plugs and a proper service & see if anything happens
  14. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-600578288.htm Could be a useful source of parts. Bilsteins plus sump guards and everything you'll need for the swap. At that price, strip what you need and onsell the rest, it'll probably work out cheaper than collecting all the bits yourself.
  15. Someone actually went to the trouble to pinch those??!! The mind boggles!
  16. 35k seems a lot of cash, but given the rarity it's probably about right. Haven't seen any up for grabs after a quick google search so pretty hard to gauge price accuracy. Certainly seems to have been well loved. If you've got the dough, do it. We only live once, and it's not like you can take the money with you when we expire
  17. Looks like the pick of the bunch really. The advantage with starting with a stock car is you know that all the enhancements will be done to your satisfaction instead of some jumped up little boy racer that buys parts cause his mates tell him they're cool. Having the recaros is a bloody big bonus too! Conversion kits come along fairly regularly and for not that much $, and you'll only need to find an open 3.64 to swap the crown & pinion instead of finding the full LSD with correct ratio. Waaaaay cheaper! Keep an eye out for a nice set of BBS wheels and Bob's your cross-dressing uncle Do it! Give another lonely E30 a loving home
  18. I suspect if he's gone down the M30 route and relies on dumb testing station employees to pass his warrants he's probably also cut some corners in the install. From what I know of the M30s they don't run hot when using the correct size radiator & maintained - I'd be thinking he's left the stock M20 cooler in the car! The beige M50 swap looks ok man, get in touch with Bellicose, I'm sure he'd do you a good price to repaint. Have seen some of his work before, would be $ well spent. Vinyl wrap only lasts a couple years before it starts to crap out anyway
  19. Ooooh, that hurts!!!! Pleased downers paid their dues, most people don't usually have the presence of mind to record the incident - good on ya!
  20. Looks a bit more promising No mention of cert? Lot of scope for engine development too. Pretty sure gtstarped still has a G260 conversion kit available for bugger all $. Do it!
  21. At least the manwhorebeasties there are an improvement on what loiters in Southmall after dark!!
  22. Gut feelings count for a lot mate. If something doesn't seem right, it nearly always isn't
  23. Bahahahaha! Shame nobody told him to open the hood and count how many spark plugs and leads it has
