  1. I'm physically ok thanks Olaf and I'm unsure at the moment what is happening with the investigation / insurance . Plenty of witnesses and Heli cam cover. Their stolen vehicle was used for a burglary/home invasion by 4 who were captured. I've done all I can at the moment... claims in BTW the wife owned a swift for 13yrs from new. Was a great little car that suited her needs. Very reliable small vehicle.
  2. Thanks Kyu. I was by myself the car took the impact well and I'd buy again. I just don't want this one back now. Hasn't even had it's first service
  3. Now carless... going through an intersection at the Tristram Road motorway off-ramp on the green light I got "T" boned by 4 youths fleeing police in a high speed pursuit. Happened 12.15pm yesterday
  4. Post a photo of what you are concerned about
  5. Did you scroll the OBC menu ?
  6. Not an easy DIY if you don't have the right tools or mechanical knowledge. I suggest BM workshop Auckland or Botany branch.
  7. DSG & DCT are completely different gearboxes and drive quite differently
  8. Nothing European matches it's performance in the same CC category for a production vehicle. I wish I had waited for the new 2.liter"N" AWD version of the Kona which comes out next year https://www.motoringresearch.com/car-news/hyundai-explains-meaning-of-n/
  9. ?. Go take one for a drive Chris...make sure it's the 1.6T DCT7 AWD though. Sports mode, AWD pedal down and piss 3 & 4 liter euro owners off. I love it. Could come to a coffee Sunday but I don't think it would be appropriate with all the badge lovers
  10. I'd be buying DCT more fun than manual once you learn how to control it

  12. I agree Rob. But the owners and most of the admin don't seen to give a sh*t anymore unless it suits them apart from Jon. I've tried negotiating this previously and got nowhere . It's also a reason why we have lost so many knowledgeable and professional members and have now got all the copy and post know all's strutting there finger skills

    M43 engine

    Don't you mean M40B16 Olaf ?
  14. The other issue out there is you can't contract out of the SGA even if you have a verbal or written agreement between two parties it can be a sh*t fight if the repair turns to custard. Both parties are covered under the SGA by law. It then becomes a blame and finger pointing exercise with a third party involved.... the parts supplier / manufacturer
  15. I thought everybody who came onto this site was into self harm ?
  16. It also boils down to your exposure to risk under the CGA...ie: the person your dealing with, the vehicle your expected to work on (condition) and the quality (brand) of the components your expected to install for labour only with a workmanship warranty . I can give examples but I'm not wanting to get into any argument or debate about what I'm saying. Many workshops will forgo the labour $ because they don't want that exposure and they refuse to do the work. Ask the workshop to fit some small item parts that you supply is not normally an issue, supplying a clutch kit or engine overhaul kit is a different story where the repairer must look at his financial exposure to the risk factor knowing that his supplier would back him up if there was a component failure with parts he might supply.
  17. But... it hasn't rained today Chris ? Nice size workshop though. What area ?

  19. How did you set up the timing when reassembling the motor? I see you are wanting to hire the correct tools to obviously check this. I hope for your sake if it's out, it's not to far out causing damage.
  20. There are variations... especially the radiators
  21. Is the guibo hitting the gear selector rod when the gearbox moves under load ?. The rod can fit both ways and only one is right. Are you also using a very short shifter lever ?
  22. Clutch plate installed the wrong way ?
