Someone in Wellington region to do Valve Stem Oil seals on E31
B.M.W Ltd replied to Kodachrome's topic in General Discussion
Black smoke from the CSI would be fuel related not valve stem seals. Valve stem seals will give you white smoke. Or do you have an "old" X5 3.Od ? -
Very well put Rod

All good here thanx Boris. We must go to Split at some stage to see my wifes old family homestead up in the hills. It's still there after many generations.

Hi Boris.... been a while....hope everything is all good. Is that your home town over there or a holiday place ?

You have my support with that statement

You need to increase your medication Andy..... the subject is about electric seats

Three weeks should not be an issue, so long as there are no parasitic devices running in the vehicle while it is locked and the vehicle is going into sleep mode and the battery is in good condition.

I know how you feel Julian.... I've been conned, had things borrowed and not returned, or damaged and taken advantage of by more people on this site than ever in my life before joining this group. I can only concede that this is how it all works in this day and age. Not the way I'm used to doing things, that's for sure.

All valvetronic engines suffer from valve stem seal problems at some point... not just one in particular. You either get lucky...or unlucky

Try ringing Auto Clutch James. TIS only gives a minimum thickness of 1mm from lining surface to top of rivet head

Had one towed in yesterday with the same problem. Remove plugs, blow out combustion chambers with air, one small squirt of oil in each chamber, new plugs, hook up a jumper pack, full throttle and crank over till engine starts properly, do not release the key until it starts. If you keep trying you will flood it again and you'll pool up the combustion chambers with fuel again. It will smoke like crazy when it does start, but it will clear very quickly
