K100R. I used to service quite a few bikes back in the 80's & 90's.

I would suggest you get it checked professionally. You have a few choices for this in Tauranga
-
The noise from these is usually the spragg clutch in the alternator pulley causing the tensioner to shake violently . Won't normally cause the battery light to come on. I suggest you go back to the original repairer or get it diagnosed properly. Or find someone closer that knows what they are doing.

I might add ....I was using the UUC flywheel with the E36 M3 pressure plate and the E34 M5 clutch plate (sprung center plate).

UUC are excellent to deal with. Do you have a link to this or do you know what the outcome was ??

What symptoms lead you to be needing to replace the alternator ?

That's what I did with M3 master cylinder, slave cylinder, braided clutch hose and valve delete. I was using the G250G gearbox & 3.15: 1 Medium case LSD Diff with the E30 325i MS Axles . It was perfect in my M52B28 Ti

Check the fuel pressure regulator as well. They are prone to rupturing the diaphragm with age and then leak out of the vacuum hose which also perishes with age

Where will you fit it and how will it be operated ?? Best go out and have a look under the bonnet and behind the dash

The hens teeth I picked up last week were expensive too ?

I would suggest you get professional help to get this diagnosed properly and see what is necessary to have it repaired. Where in Auckland are you located ?
-
Has this been diagnosed correctly on a proper scan Tool ?
-
Wish you all best Jase. Hope it all goes well ?

Without a cert it won't get a WOF either

A cert with spacers could also be another problem you will need to face

Yes it was. Modified too with heaps of special accessories......Battery cover delete, unsafe battery jumper leads, a bottle of peak coolant and 2 bottles of SAE40 engine oil. I also forgot to mention that the repairer had also mislaid the lock nut

Loyalty these days is just a $1 note. Reminds me of a "customer ?" that needed a quote for front and rear brakes on his E90. I gave him a quote for new German ATE rotors, pads and wear sensors including labour and GST. He came back about 3 weeks later and wanted us to reset the service module and wanted me to give him a quote to fix the squeaking Remsa pads on Chinese disc rotors and the old wear sensors..... all this he expected us to do for free. The difference from my original quote was $80 but he went with the special race brake installation by an aftermarket franchise. I told him I would take it all off and do it properly for the original quote and give him back the sh*t parts that had been installed..... I ended up telling him to leave the premises and had a cup of coffee... Jeeze I'm glad I'm retired now and don't have to deal with this sh*t any more

Was it a tyre shop or private sale ?

This 15 year old BMW model will empty your pockets quicker than your wife. They end up leaking from every seal, gasket and hose at low mileage

Did you also check the return side on the L/H side under the rear seat?
