no, it doesn't meet the laws because it doesn't have a drivers and passenger airbag as standard equipment.Cheers

Thats precisely what Colin Giltrap is doing with his Porsche Carerra GT and his McLaren Mercedes SLR. They were imported to here, then sent off to england for 6 months, where they will then be re-imported back into NZ where they can be registered.

Pure class.

Greame I'll take a passenger side brake cooling duct if you have one. Cheers

I wouldn't exactly call an M3 a super car. Sure they are great cars, but not in the same league as a real super car.If I could afford one, and had a sprog, I would love an 03 M3. Cheers

Well put, Jordan is a dick.

You can't register an E30 M3 in New Zealand, until it is 20 years old. You must have made a mistake.E30's no longer meet the frontal impact laws for importing them....unless it was owned overseas by the current owner here for at least six months, or they are from overseas and they are here on diplomatic duties. Cheers

I suspect that there is some mistake with the price. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-13607064.htm

Yup, the last 1/2 decent one I saw for sale sold for $35k, but the owner has since spent a fair bit, getting small issues sorted out.Gus was also telling me about one recently where the owner was offered $60k for it, and he turned it down (but it was like new). Coombes in Hamilton sold one about 2 years ago for $65k, but again, it was in Concours condition. I got offered one for $38k three years ago, but it had done 170,000 miles and it was in far from perfect condition (about 3 weeks after it was offered to me, the owner wrapped it around a tree, it was last seen on the back of a truck looking very sad). When Steve at SD Euro was building one up from a damaged one he imported, he said I could have it for $35k, but he needed the money there and then on the spot as he had another offer for it (this one ended up being built as a dedicated Targa car, and is awesome). Cheers

If you import one, you can't register it, it is as simple as that. Unless, you put it in a shed, and leave it until it is 20 years old, then you can register it (so in this case 2008). Cheers

very nice clean looking car. Looks good. Cheers

If I wasn't taking 2 weeks + leave to go to the States, I would have been keen. The roads in the South Island are second to none. Cheers

GusThe binding was almost nothing, just enough for it it to take effect when the engine was cold, and therefore the AFM had been sitting. You would not have known any better, as it was all you were used to, as it would have been like it since you got the car with this AFM in it. 16 years of use, does manage to gether a bit of crud over time. Cheers

Hi All Here is a small helpful hint for those with E30's. Mine was running slightly rough when taking off from a stop (i.e was a bit jerky, and unpredictable) when the car was first started (for the first couple of minutes). I had put it down to the disrupted airflow from the pod air filter being so close to the AFM, but I decided to take the AFM off and have a close look at it. The flap in it was binding (but only very slightly). I gave the edges of it a good clean with a damp rag, and now it is fine again, and much smoother at take off from a stand still. Cheers

Also, I went to look at some wheels for Glenn (E30-323ti)up here a month or two back. The guy was an importer of second hand alloy wheels. Glenn may still have his phone number, he may have something suitable for you (or get some that you want). Cheers
