  1. Our 323i is very much the same, just a car.It is well maintained, and it pretty good condition, but at the end of the day just a form of transport for my wife to cart the kids around in. Cheers Grant

You are an idiot. It is also at the risk of every other road user, or pedestrian. I certainly don't want some idiot in an illegally modified car causing an accident with myself, my family or friends that would have been avoided if the car was modified properly. Think before you type next time!! Cheers Grant
  3. Nice car, when those old E28's are done up, they can look pretty cool. Cheers Grant
  4. I love the fact that my NZ new Manual E36 328i is 11 years old, has done 266,000km's, and it starts first time every time, drives very very well, is very reliable, the engine is still silky smooth, and every single thing in the car still works. I enjoy driving it every time I am in it. Although, no expense has been spared to keep it all working. I also love that because it has very little book value, I pay barely any FBT, so can write all costs of the car off through my company. The same is true for my E36 323i, although this car has a lot less km's on it and is driven 99% of the time by my wife around town so only does a few 1,000 km's a year. Cheers Grant
  5. it is probably just your turbo spooling up.

    Is it just me?

I must be one of the rare few that thinks Trade Me is brilliant. I don't mind the fees, as it is so easy and effortless to use, I don't mind paying a decent cut of anything I sell. Cheers Grant
  8. Yeah - I had one at DHL, but ended up just turning it off, as I didn't want to be on call 24 hiurs a day.I was after a phone/PDA that let me check an send email from anywhere, control my calendar, get onto the web and all of which had to be easy to use. Also it had to sync with Outlook easily. The iPhone does all this very easily, and also has the mapping function, the iPod touch capability etc. I also wanted something that I could use in the USA in a few months. I am very rarely in my office (only in there about a day and a half a week), so need to stay connected when out and about. The iPhone fits the bill very nicely and I am very impressed with it. Cheers Grant
  9. That sucks, growing up in Cambridge, we were brought up to respect, and give horses a wide berth on the road, as they are so easily spooked. I can confirm it wasn't me in my Boston Green E36 (I was stuck in the office all afternoon). Good luck finding whoever it was, this is not good. Cheers Grant
  10. I don't know where this $1200 comes from. I paid $980 for a 16GB version, from a proper VF store.A good price I thought, and more than competitive with the Blackberry or Trio's I was also looking at. Cheers Grant
  11. Thanks Penry - great answer. From that am I safe to think that in my case, I really have nothing to gain from trying this as: 1) I have the phone already, bought it outright and just kept my existing vodafone plan (and added data). Therefore I don't need to unlock it for that reason. 2) With the iPhone 3g, you can easily add 3rd party applications to it already using the apps store (I have already added a couple and they are good). Interesting your comments on Vodafone's 3G network. I can't get it in my office, which is at the top of Khyber Pass Road (so pretty Auckland Central). It is the same with my Vodem, it automatically reverts to the slower speed. Not that this is an issue as I don't need it when sitting at my desk. Cheers Grant I think I am coming to terms with this.
  12. Hi All As I am not the worlds most technical person, I would like someone to explain jailbreaking to me (or point me to somewhere that explains this in nice easy to understand english). Specifically: 1) What exactly is it/does it mean? 2) Is it easy to do? 3) What are the risks to doing it? (apart from voiding the warranty). 4) Should I do it? Cheers Grant

    QUBE: my 328 coupe

Very nice car, I like the kit, tateful without being over the top. Cheers Grant
  14. Very cool car, I'm a huge fan of the old 635's Cheers Grant
  15. Welcome along - great introduction to yourself. It looks like you have a fun project ahead of you. Cheers Grant
  16. I agree - no use with half measures!!Welcome along. Who did you buy this off, I don't recall seeing it before? Cheers Grant
  17. Welcome Dennis - I think your car looks bloody nice. Nice and clean, and tastefully modified appearance wise. Very cool. Cheers Grant
  18. I'm with Shelley - a real mozzie noise is 10x more annoying than this (although this is slightly annoying as well), especially when you are trying to sleep.Cheers Grant

    iphone 3G

The girl I dealt with said that they had plenty of the white 16gb ones, and the black and white 8gb ones. No black 16gb phones though.I don't mind the white one though, I had no colour preference at all. It seems easy to use, as I have managed to set my email up, and have made and recieved calls, and have got onto the net on it. Cheers Grant

    iphone 3G

I just bought a 16gb iPhone 3G. I was waddling past a VF store, walked in to have a look at them, and walked out with the phone. Got no idea how to use it, but it looks cool. Will play with it tonight, and get the hang of it. Cheers Grant
  21. Fair enough - well I think it is fair to say that you got the better end of the deal.

    tech 1 m325i

Considering the original for sale advert was added in January, and the car market has changed a lot since then, I am guessing the drop is related to the percieved value now compared with in January.Cheers Grant
  23. Why would anyone swap a 328i for a 320i? Did the other guy have rocks in his head? Cheers Grant
  24. I'm afraid I'm with Brad - I am pretty sure that there is no official 840CSi. In my "The Complete Book of BMW" - not just a witty name, this is a damned good and comprehensive book, it makes no mention of an 840CSi. Gus - yes this is Gerry's old car. Cheers Grant
  25. Gidday Anyone else seen this: http://rampenfest.com/ (warning - this is quite long). Apparently BMW denied having anything to do with this, but have now admitted that it was an official BMW "advert". Thr jury is still out with me whether or not I think it is clever or otherwise.... Cheers Grant
