    Super DIY weekend

    Great work - well done
  4. Holy heck you guys, why don't you all give it a rest. Sure, the car isn't to everyones liking, but so what. Lets keep it civilised guys, and leave the petty squabbling alone. Cheers Grant
  5. Hi All I have been reading Jock's diary each morning to keep up with his progress. It is with great sadness today to read that Jock passed away yesterday. To Bronnie, and his family, Brook and I pass on our most sincere condolences. I'm sure if there is anything that anyone here can do, all you have to do is ask. Again, our thoughts are with Jock's immediate and extended family. Cheers Grant and Brook Shennen
  6. I was always pretty partial to The Eagles, ZZ Top, Bruce Springsteen, Genesis, the Police and Dire Straights, Australian Crawl, AC/DC, Guns and Roses when i was a young fella, and early teenager in the 80's.
  7. Hi Duncan Thanks for the update on Jock's condition. I can assure you that the thoughts of everyone on here will be with Jock and his family, as well as extended family in thie very very difficult time. Please pass on my best wishes to Jock, and don't give up hope. All the best, and please keep us updated, if you can on his battle. Cheers Grant
  8. Good idea - I'm not a big contributor anymore (althought I do keep pretty up to date with the reading of new posts), it could probably do with some fresh enthusiasm. This is a great resource, lets keep it going that way and ensure it remains a great site/forum. About the only moderating I do anymore is the deletion of spam threads. I've even given up on the complaining about txt language, and have resigned myself to the fact that the use of proper english is a thing of the past. Also, Bimmersport is unusable at home (I have exactly the same issue as Will has/had) as it won't let me post in any sections unless I am able to use the fast post option (i.e I can't reply to PM's, can't quote, and can't even post in at least 1/2 the sections) - therefore I'm pretty limited in my capability. Cheers Grant
  9. I used the H&R Spring as this is a very popular and proven combination with the Bilstein Sport shock. I previously had the equivilant combination in my old E30, and they were great, so went for the same in the E36. Cheers Grant
  10. I'm pretty happy with the Bilstein and H&R Sport combination I recently put in the E36 328i. I wanted something that improved the handling (pitch and roll) but not make the car too low, and also have a ride comfort level suitable for my wife and 10 month son (Ash) to be comfortable. This combo suits the bill for me. We went to Cambridge and back yesterday, and Ash slept for 50 minutes on the way there and an hour and a half on the way home, so the ride quality must be pretty good (even over the back roads we took rather than SH1). Now that the springs have finally settled, I think that the ride height is just right. I'm sure you will get other opinions (some that people will try and pass off as fact, rather than opinion), but I'm happy with what I have, I'm equally sure that other combo's are equally as good. Cheers Grant
  11. Yup - the same place you came too. It is a great place for a couple (but not so good now we have baby number 2 on the way).
  12. Now you tell me!!That could be why I fielded about 200 phone calls in less that 24 hours, and had a constant stream of people looking on Sunday, and had it rented to a great couple on Sunday night. In fact even after I put a note on the advert on trademe saying it was taken, I am still getting calls from people about it. Cheers Grant

    MP3 player advice

I have an ipod that plugs, directly into my Sony Headunit (via an ipod connector cord that runs into my glovebox). It is bloody good, and the ipod is always out of sight in the glovebox. I am an ipod fan, and don't think that they can be beaten. Also when we were recently overseas, I loaded it up with movies, and we could watch them on the hotel TV, worked really well. Cheers Grant
  14. To give you an idea, we have just rented our 2brm Newton townhouse out (5 minutes to city centre, ponsonby, newmarket etc), with a double garage for $410 a week. Cheers Grant
  15. I agree with Cain. Shane up until the 9th round had fought a much more technical fight, and landed a high number of punches, especially the left hand jab (sometimes even landing the triple jab). Unfortunately, having both brows cut and bleeding were Shane's downfall, and ultimately cost him the fight, the poor guy was cannon fodder during that 12th round. Friday the 13th, whilst not as proficient as Cameron, still held on, and was amazingly very strong in those final few rounds. I enjoyed the fight, despite the result - good to see two heavyweights lasting 12 rounds, and stil throwing punches in the final round. If Shane had lasted the 12th round, I'd have given him a points victory. My opinion anyway.... Cheers Grant

    Left vs Right

All I could see was anti-clockwise. And going by the left brain v right brain that would be right. As much as I would like to be right brained, I am most definately left brained.
  17. Nice work Ollie - well done on taking the time to everything properly. Will be more than worth it in the long run.

Happy Birthday - hope you have done the right thing and thrown a sicky from work, and are on your third beer by now. Cheers Grant

    HB Hybrid

Happy Birthday for yesterday Josh - hope you had a great one...and you aren't so old either, not compared with some of us!!
  20. You are absolutely correct, my mistake.Cheers Grant
  21. There is a little switch under your brake pedal. This causes this problem, it is a cheap replacement part, just remove the old one and plug in the new one. There is a write up on here somewhere on it, and is a common problem. Cheers Grant
  22. I'm also perfectly happy with the Bilstein sports (in conjunction with H&R Sport springs). I have had in my last two cars, and they have behaved nothing like what 3pedals is talking about, and have been very compliant even on NZ's rough chipseal roads. I'm sure the Koni's are as good, but the point I am making here is not to let one person's opinion based on what seems one bad experience on a completely different application cloud your judgement, when there is plenty of more than overwhelming evidence to the contrary elsewhere. Cheers Grant
  23. You are in very safe hands there.

    We lost...

I take that back, the ref was English...that explains it.

    We lost...

The ref was Irish. A 20 something ex-lawyer. Lets hope it is the last game he ref's. His decisions were terrible, he had no grasp of the off side line (but to be fair he wasn't helped by the touch judges), and his sending off of McAllister was a shocker. However the French muscled up well, didn't allow any penetration by the AB backs (especially the back three), and defended extremely well. The AB's seemed to lack any decent attacking options, apart from McAllister for a brief period, and resulted in trying to just rumble it up, and relied too heavily on picking and going. Oh well ooks like we can look forward to a France v SA final. Cheers Grant
