  1. The inspection light just tracks how many kilometers you do, with a few variables... can be reset with a paper clip or a scan tool.
  2. pretty sure the plastic "BMW M POWER" cover fits on any M52 engine. The blatant obvious bit is the fact the M3 has ITB's and anything else does not.
  3. http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=...hg=64&fg=55 This fan? That's the AC Compressor / Aux fan.
  4. Could be a lot of things 96 car has EWS-II where the 93 car probably has EWS-I.. I would have got the same size engine to replace it so you could use the vehicles stock ECU which is coded to the EWSII... might want to go and do a heap of research.
  5. I doubt they'd even be able to see it to be fair. not very prominent when all the covers are on
  6. I have a spare one in the M52 that's in my garage also no good to me as E39/36 M52 has back sump, where e30 needs front sump does not appear to be leaking.... Brand new is better, though.
  7. replace the level sensor seal first I reckon... they are like $4.50 from the dealer. was leaking like a pig on my E34. also did thermostat housing seal and pressure sensor seals.. pretty easy job once you get started.
  8. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=159449 Any for open diff is probably fine... I think I used Mobil because I bought it from the dealer.
  9. Trade you my touring for it.... Nah you don't really want it. GLWS.
  10. Mine has the same option, and it's only got the normal sized tank. Wouldn't more fuel be safer? as it's the vapor that's explosive on petrol, rather than the actual liquid itself.
  11. I regularly get 2degrees bills overdue, because they are knobs... Lost my Card, got new card... put in details for new card... automatic payments FAIL. Go onto website, click pay with saved card... BAM works fine.
  12. Full tank of fuel before it being put onto a ship.
  13. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-510958872.htm can't be any funnier than that... ahh dealers.

    Laptops

you would have to find an adaptor to do it nicely... this would be model specific. as for the drive.. probably not you can buy a USB Optical drive for under a hundred bucks brand new.
  15. Probably going to work or going home...
  16. yeah Diesel in the USA is like up to 3x more expensive supposedly. hence why big pos petrol engines are still popular.

Probably, they are both very boring I assure you. the E30 is still absolutely stock because I haven't done a thing yet. though I have a lot of parts :S Send me a PM.
  18. It's probably cheaper to fix! and would you feel bad filling an X5 up with fishing gear and dirty boots and other sh*t? and you wouldn't get any odors from what's in the back having a real ute.
  19. Buy a stock HID setup from a broken E39. At least you have that option, can't do anything like that for older cars.

I have an E30 which is getting an M52B28, and an E34 Touring. E30's especially are the easiest BMW to work on period. if you have a good mechanical mind and google skills you can fix anything.
  21. Noticed that the f/passengers door lock actuator is no longer working....

M50B25/M52B28 swap is probably best dollar wise... There's a SC14 swap thread, done by "bravo" big write up, lots of pictures. Myself, I'd go M5x depending on your skill level.. M50B25 is a near on direct swap.. and it's got more potential depending on how big your wallet is..
  23. I'd change the rotors on principal- unless you've done it before but they might be okay, just take the wheels off and look for grooving in them. will need new sensors regardless. If in doubt ask a brake specialist... there's a good one in Dunedin, surely there's good ones up north?
  24. I have a spare motronic 1.3 one in my garage... I don't have any time to ship it and can't really guarantee it as I have nothing to test it in.
