I'd have to argue that the English made more desirable cars in the past than the competition at any one time, because they had SO MANY MARQUES. Lo and behold the desirable marques have stayed on. (also i am a sucker for punishments and missed opportunities, like the SD1, Healey, and MGB V8)

The belts are reasonably cheap online, just DIY the cambelt change if you have experience doing it.

maybe, just maybe, we'll be seeing police cars reaching the 500k km mark, and beyond the 3 year fleet age replacement

I swear this looks like a swoopier late model Nissan Skyline/Fuga

Looking at a 2000 728i anything I should pay particular

^ I actually prefer the 728i. John, did you test drive a blue 735il with a baby seat in the back, priced at 5990? (because I did too.) -
Try switching your gear lever to the "manual" mode and leave it there, it retards the upshift in a sport mode.

would love to get a e38 728i and redo the internals to M54B30 spec. -
^ thanks Brent, however it seems that the repairers have sourced style 5s specifically for the touring :gasp: (i was hoping for larger diameter wheels but insurance will only pay for originals :sigh:) Front suspension arm and rear wheel bearing were the other damaged parts in addition to the wheels. They say I should get the car back by the end of the week, as there was no chassis damage.

RIP the great OZ RWD.
-
THANK GOODNESS! They said it's a repair job, but finding parts is tough. I will get in touch with them on Monday and get their details, so I can get in touch with Brent and whomever may have touring specific parts.

Mate, it was raining, it was a gentle curve of a road with lots of oils and rotting leaves, I have those crappy chinese tyres that I had planned to change but never got around to changing, probably started aquaplaning and then the ABS started working overtime, lights were flashing. started spinning and hit the curb on the left (didn't cross the line) going backwards (yes the area was slick because it had new seal on them) and then spun around again and mounted the curb again. all i know is, I should not have spun doing such low speeds but it happened. Yes I want it fixed. It is a beautiful car and I would be sore to miss it.
-
No, not at all, :sigh: The report comes tomorrow or Friday, we'll see how that turns out.
-
^ yes. but at 40kph into the curb, backwards. wheels are shot, suspension is being assessed. I sure hope the AA repairers will suss it out ... along with the SLS. ( I am mainly concerned about the SLS)
