  1. Washed down the bumper, ants came out. Argentinian fire ants.
  2. So the "SE" in the model registration means little. Just the full electric seats, leather, Klimatekontrol, Shadowline, and perhaps the roof racks.

  4. ^ I am assuming it does, as it is an NZ New car from 1996, I suppose the only way to check is through the VIN or visually inspecting the bottom of the car.
  5. Thanks! ... so either do the real deal or wrap with quality wrap. Though, after getting the trim out, I am having second thoughts, the trim is really beautiful.

    E36

Nice one! .. .Nice plates too!
  7. Actually Phil, the centre console needn't have come out, just the bits under the steering wheel. I went for the centre console because I am checking my heater core too. and am contemplating putting this in http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=629078876 6:19pm Thinking twice about retrofitting an OBC, seems like too much of a hassle sourcing the temperature sensor. will probably let it be, installing it sometime in the future.
  8. heh, the amount of gunk in the car has led me to believe that I definitely need to replace my cabin micro filter. Getting to it though, has been hell. I have effectively removed the dash (below the dash board) and the centre console, if this is the time to upgrade, so be it... I sure hope i can put it back together. Having spent most of the morning on my knees, I am going to follow this-> http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/topic/34073-cabin-...allation-guide/. However, I do not have the replacement filters in hand. :sigh:

    E36

    Congratulations! let's see some pics
  10. ^ fair enough, I actually want a piano black finish to the E34, the wood at the moment is perfect, but unbecoming in a bimmer.
  11. Welcome! from a W124? I would recommend going for an E34, unless you would want an E39 or an E60
  12. ^ I am hoping it's that ... the cabin filter seems to be hell to get to, for RHD cars... I'm hoping it's the moisture in the evaporator... otherwise oops. Will first check if I have lost any cooling fluid tomorrow... I checked this morning and none was lost... Also Postponing the leather clean .... vacuuming the insides of the car really is draining.... i have never seen so much white dog hair in my life! It was even in the battery and fuse chamber...
  13. ^ i know what you mean by the 90 degree bend gap, i think the car has it on all corners.... need to look at that lower door piece... Going to do a full groom and leather resto today, along with the filter replacement and eyeballing the heater core. 3.00pm:- I..uh... dropped the rear seat backs too low without the seat bottoms and now I cannot bring it bring it back up as the mechanism seems to have locked up, will research the ways to open it. 5.00pm:- Fixed the locking mechanism.... good ol' Mr.Hammer and Ms.Screwdriver worked wonders!
  14. Do you think a Gloss plastidip finish would be fine too? so you can remove it and return to the original wood if you want to...
  15. ^ Good Idea, Thanks! should help quite a bit! and would the usual suspects have the filters?
  16. Right in the title, "730i V6" http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-630260646.htm
  17. So, the E34Touring I had obtained is less than perfect, here's the list of things I need to do immediately. 1. Heater core leaking (bad a/c smell and misting of the the windscreen exactly at the centre dash vents):- the system could have been replaced in the past, and here's hoping that the o-rings are just shot. 2. headlining drooping : blast the massive one piece 3. road noise, drivers door rubber is worn in one section:- replacements out of the question as the colour of the lining is rare, so repair foam somehow, using foam spray/plasti dip? 4. rear windscreen washer bottle pump is leaking- change seals? List to be updated as time goes by.
  18. does it have a CD slot? also, do you have the codes for it?
  19. ^ come to think of it, the windscreen did fog up in the centre when the a/c was off. So does this mean I need to replace the heater core? (egads! ) or are there any other options? Edit: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...IHKA-content%29 oh hey, here's the DIY guide. Looks like I could plonk in an OBC and a stock CD controller in her at the same time, nice.
  20. Paul, how can I determine that to be the cause? I suppose I ought to check coolant levels every morning. Anything else? After 250k clicks I suppose the Cat has stuffed up?
  21. Car: Model:E34 Touring Year:1996 Vin number:WBAHJ62020GD13364 Import / NZ new: NZ New Options ie:Auto, Climate control Airconditioning? very low on options? I am experiencing some smells in the cabin, burnt fuel and oil, only when the A/C is on. After some searching, the general diagnosis points to faulty:- 1. Fuel pressure regulator/switch 2. Oil pressure switch 3. EVAP system 4. Valve cover gaskets 5. Dirty oil (probably needs an oil change) 6. Fuel filter 7. MAF sensor dirty 8. lambda/o2 sensors 9. PCV Valves 10. Air filters 11. fuel injector, 12. fuel system leak. 13. Bombed Catalytic converter -hence the Decat. Am going to see if I can pinpoint the issue soon. First, I will reset the ECU by unhooking the battery and will update tomorrow. Thank you.
  22. I think there is a carbon monoxide leak in my car, how can I confirm this?
  23. ^ Thanks Peter, the rear hatch loom must have been the stuff of dreams for you I may or may not, depending on my current situation, go for the rims, taking a wait and see approach. The 16" cross spokes are curbed, so I probably won't waste me 100$ on that.
  24. ^ http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=626814030 ? and thanks Graham.
  25. ^ cheers Michael. I would have to say though, NZ new cars have some odd options... like mine lacks the seat belt adjustment I used to have in my Jap import. The wagon even has front electrical seats that do work though ... instead of manual seats that flop about every time you try to adjust the seat angle. Also, those annoying rear hatch niggles.... I suppose the nice lady I bought the car off had enough with the car.
