  1. Right, I am designing a replacement for a fuel pump ecu from a toyota soarer [uzz3* and jzz3* series, same as a jza80 supra and jzx8* chaser]. Basically it is a switching device that switches the voltage out put from 12V [engine cranking and haerd throttle/load situations] to 9V [cruising, idle/low load and rpm]. The original unit has a sender/signal wire from the ecu, obviously to trigger the voltage regulation. This system is prone to dying and nobody seems to have designed a replacement part. All I am having trouble with is deciding what kind of switch to use. It obviously needs to switch when a pre-determined current passes through the signal wire, I have thought of a SMPS [switched mode power supply] or going with a triggered switch [Transistor? Circuit opening relay? etc] that will bridge the 12V circuit and go through a .75 ohm ballast resistor. Pics may be a wee bit big due to detailing. Attached is my hoary microsoft paint idea, but I can't decide what switch to use! Also a schematic for the original system. Any ideas/advice would be cool thanks.
  2. Better than a pocket prodder isn't it?
  3. That is mega epic!!!!!!! Freakin' love it.
  4. Methanol/water injection through the top of the blower. Keeps everything a bit cooler, the problem with this is the restrictions on how long you can run the engine for without topping the supply up, and the cost of doing so. I have seen this idea utilized multiple times. The heat sink idea is practical and cost effective. A strange idea, that works in my mind is a water cooled intake pipe before the blower? There shouldn't be a huge amount of heat generated by a low stressed and low speed rootes type anyway, so you could always tune around that by running a wee bit richer to keep the intake valves cooler.
  5. The front I do believe
  6. Several words of explanation come to mind; om nom nom and phap phap phap. Looks awesome dude!
  7. I rode a GSX750 Kat once....not the sharpest toy.
  8. That second one is very nice and Nicks one is delicious. There tons of decent E36's out there at the moment. It's actually annoying my that my car [untill Sunday...] are a dime a doz.
  9. That's so nouveau riche
  10. That is one yummy 328i! Exactly how I would want one. Do it Dreamkast!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. You deserve a beer. Can I be in my own E12 and Rover P6 club? The E12/P6V8 Beige blanket boffins!
  12. Got to be worth $40? Hasn't got any scratches or chips.
  13. I don't understand why people quote "semi forged" pistons. There is no such thing, usually this would equate to drop forging. So, Puss then. Fully sik BMW? I suppose it isn't running right, or is it full of sick from the poor chaps vomit reaction as they go past? Bet it does a great skid though. Illiterate twit, injeters? Is that a neologism?
  14. What an epic panel gap on that yellow one. At least build it properly and save the remaining dignity
  15. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-278201294.htm This is pretty sexy. Boring interior though. I would rock this one, except I hate hugenormous rims http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-293430671.htm This is fairly nice, I think we have already looked at it though; http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-281914545.htm This is the one at Kerry Harvey autos. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-265966678.htm Seriously cool http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-293883343.htm
  16. Ask away then dude, I'll do my best to answer. There is a boston green 323i coupe [96 I think] in Palmerston north at Kerry Harvey autos. Looks quite good, hasn't got Msport kit though. There is a dark blue 325i coupe in Palmerston North at Adopta car. I'll try find them on trademe.
  17. Good luck dude. Gotta love an Mspec 36.
  18. Go for it mate. You never know how it may turn out. You will have a car to be proud of. Especially with the Black on black. Yum. I've had a few projects people said "why" to. Because I wanted to, simple. Same with this Rover P6.
  19. That's quite well done! I'd like to see what kind of power plant get folded into it. S70 +TT would do the trick
  20. It's always better to find a great one and not have to spend all your hard earned money replacing half the interior and the gearbox.
  21. Just an old V8 nobody except me and tweed wearing men like.73 Rover P6 3500
  22. Yeah, I decided to buy a dirty old brittish favourite of mine [yet another] and should be picking it up this weekend. My attention span is far too short. Can't resist the V8 noise though...
  23. I've put all my riding gear up for $1 reserve 2 day auctions. Just for a wee giggle. Or, make me an offer of near $100 and take all it away. Just because I'm nice. In the Wairarapa/Palmerston north area usually. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings....;member=2296369 What kind of muppet forgets a link?
  24. I had a peek at that listing last night, pretty cool idea. Can't you get a pre-cert check of sorts?
