  1. I didn't realise there was a mount under the passenger seat for an extinguisher.... maybe il put one there too haha!
  2. nice work boys. love your version of bomb track Josh.
  3. Here's the diagram http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BG92&mospid=47433&btnr=51_2060&hg=51&fg=10&hl=25 And in my pic of the wreaked rubber is part number 8, the inner window seal. But I'm guessing the very corner rubber has gone aswell which is part of the lower strip that runs along the bottom which isn't properly listed there but will look at my invoices tomorrow for it. And I got them from Schmiedmann.
  4. This Reminds me of that Dakar yellow e36 "m3" that was here earlier in the year. Was just a 318is shell with everything swapped into it which doesn't make it a genuine m3 which the guy was upfront about and was sold for what it was, a modded 318is, not a genuine m3. Sure it's almost identical to my m3 but that doesn't make it one, and I believe this is the same thing, a modded 540i, but a nice one at that.
  5. Also installed a fire extinguisher in the boot just in case something goes wrong.
  6. Well I've just replaced both output shafts and rear cover gasket so in theory it shouldn't be leaking. Noticed it hadn't leaked overnight tho, by it was parked uphill not down hill
  7. Yea willy at euro autos would be your man. He's pretty good with the older stuff.
  8. So he says it's a genuine rare car being a 540is when all it is a 540 with the bits swapped into it. That's hardly genuine in my eyes...
  9. Noticed the diff is leaking :@
  10. Had a guy real keen to buy my old e30, had to drive it to his house so he could view (first mistake), then as he reversed it down his narrow as street he kurbed the mags, then he drove it to a "mates place" which I'm pretty sure was a drug exchange. Got back to his, agreed on a price, then said he'l sort his finances and let me know. Two days later get a text saying he couldn't get a loan because he was on the individual youth benefit (150 a week) and needed a garentor on the loan and asked me if I would! Couldn't see why I didn't want to...
  11. That manifold looks awesome!! Nice work
  12. Ohhhh that does sound good! Good aceleration too.
  13. Thanks Michael, hopefully now I can keep it on the road for more than a month before I find something else that needs done! But I would like to do the vanos before summer... Hoping it's nice weather later in the week/weekend so can give her a good wash and take some good pics. Also changing to the castrol diff fluid from the redline super lightweight shockproof has made a big difference too. Diff used to bind quite bad when turning at low speeds but has gone now.
  14. so today I swapped the front diff mount to the new one, filled the diff up with Castrol saf xj from bmw-$32 a litre!!! put the schnitzers on, dropped her on the ground and went out for some fun. Oh how Ive missed her.... rear ends nice and tight now too. couldn't push too hard as it was pretty wet out, but when I did...some nice sideways action
  15. that was here for the otago rally. has a nice v12 in it...
  16. hard to tell from the besian website but looks like it will, youll just have afew extra seals left
  17. I just used a big screwdriver to lift the valve spring then a magnet to lift out the shim. I got all mine thru Milland.
  18. Oyea sweet. Let me know if you get them.
  19. Havn't thought about tools as of yet...
  20. Hey Dave, I am yet to do vanos, but do have all the bits to do it. when I first got it it was abit noisy when cold but after a full service its nowhere near as bad. But I will be looking at doing it shortly, aswell as the rod bolts just for peace of mind. With the water pump, I wasn't sure either if they're prone to failure, so changed it and the t.stat just to be safe as I didn know when they were last done. As with the front lower arm rear bushes, they are well known for failure, as are the rear trailing arm front bushes so be best to check yours out and would recommend changing them to a powerflex bush or nolethane to stop premature failure and help with handling.
  21. Yea that's pretty ruff that neither of them stopped to help.
