  1. Duz it do meen skidz? Seriously - looks great, Kyu. Keen to hear what might replace it but appreciate you'll want to keep quiet on that for now.

    Quick rant thread.

2016. It's been pretty crap so far. I'm taking next week off to see if starting over in February improves things.
  3. Riding in a S65 would change your mind. Over 600hp and torque electronically limited to 1000Nm...
  4. In period, the E38 is definitely the better-looking car. The W140 Mercedes was entirely meh from the outside... Totally barge and whale-like. Lovely inside, and good to drive, though. It too got a 2.8 engine in the S280 - 193hp and 270Nm. Just under the fabled 150hp per ton, courtesy of extensive use of aluminium. The later W220 Mercedes S-class is one of the best-looking and proportioned cars in it's class, imho.
  5. You're not alone. I've seen corporate data centres with portable industrial fans in them to try and keep temps down.
  6. Cable throttle? If so, sounds like a sticky or kinked cable.
  7. There's a bit of interest judging by the number of views... I will get pics sorted! We spent yesterday looking at rundown house, cos that looks to be about all we can afford. (Especially if I can't sell the wheels! ) Offers are invited, of course.

    M47 diesel tuning

If I remove the engine, I think there'll be room under the bonnet!
  9. (I'll add some pics when I can get to the wheels a little later!) These are the original rims fitted to our E46 320d. Style 45 7-spoke (easy to clean!) 7x16 et47 rims in good condition with some (but not significant) kerbing fitted with 205/55-16 Michelin Pilot HX tyres. The tyres all have (very pessimistically) 6mm tread; there's probably more. For the weight conscious,m the rims weigh 10.5kg each, fairly light by BMW standards. I've kept these as a second set of rims, but have run out of space and need to make some room in the garage! They obviously fit the E46 without any problems, and are good on the E36 (including Z3 E36) too. Collection from Te Kauwhata, or I can easily bring to Manukau and meet from there. Price... The Michelins are probably over $200 each, new... $400 for the set of 4, including delivery in North Waikato or South Franklin.
  10. Me too. As I said - my pleasures are innocent.
  11. Belonged to a lass, I think, before this unfortunate event?
  12. All my pleasures are perfectly innocent. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

    M47 diesel tuning

    Definitely an option.
  14. I go to thinking. Recent work highlights the mileage our 320d has covered, and the wear and tear won't be restricted to bushes. Diesel injectors get tired, too. Maybe a little upgrade might be in order. The injectors from a 535d - the M57N engine - will drop straight in and (allegedly) give a useful increase in flow when complemented by a replacement turbo. That's nice. The price - isn't. $500. Each. Oh well... Standard performance isn't too bad, I suppose.
  15. That thought had occurred to me!
  16. There's gotta be something... (He said hopefully!) Lol I've done a bit of rim refurb in the past but not on split rims, and I did have access to a monster lathe (12' bed) at the time which made life a lot easier. Stripping the rims isn't an issue but I've no real idea how to go about tidying lips and such by hand.
  17. Any tips for doing this? I was trying to find an excuse for you to do mine for me, but couldn't remember what it was that I was so sure you owed me a favour for... Seriously - if you have any more you're doing, could you do a photo essay?
  18. True... An ex drift-diesel engine doesn't appeal!
  19. Really great to see this - thanks. I have a set of 18" Lorinsers (Mercedes fit) from Matt that I'll be doing similarly at some point. I may need some help with the welding...
  20. I'd quite like the engine in our 320d!
  21. I've never looked for one, but do the engines really sell for $8-9k?
  22. Washed it yesterday. And the cats walked over it during the night. <sigh>

    e30 parts clear out

For some reason I'd fixated on 4-cyl engines. Probably because that's what we have here... Thanks.
  24. ^ I wondered the same but thought I'd wait and see if they sold with the car...

    Anyone use Gull?

Ethanol, like LPG, can be excellent if the engine is properly set up for it. In some cases that can mean much more than just sorting the ignition timing.
