I do have a couple of folk who have expressed interest, but neither have committed to buy, and neither have logged in to the forum for several days. (Sorry guys.) There's a pressing need to clear some space sooner rather than later. As such, I'm really keen to move both cars as a single deal if at all possible, or get together with a local friend and have a joint project to get two cars back on the road. White car, almost complete (less bumpers and side trims), rego on hold, no WoF. Black rolling shell, rego lapsed. No sunroof. Perfect track car but was registered in NZ and would make an excellent road car. Loads of parts, including a good matching set of coupe seats. May split if interest is sufficient to see everything go, but have no inclination to sell one wheel at a time! As I said, I paid $1k for the white car, and there's about another $1k tied up in the black rolling shell and all the other parts I've acquired. Make me an offer I can't refuse!

I've checked. I can sell you a pair for about $1k? They come with a free E30 coupe. Other than that I have a mismatched pair - the release buttons are different.

I wish it were true... This is actually to help someone else. Which is good, of course.

I've got to keep it a bit quiet at the moment. It's not something hugely exciting. Fun, and a bit different, but not especially exciting. It is about the same weight as an E30 318i coupe, and has maybe 10% more power. My apologies for being a little vague in the first post.

The master and slave can be replaced fairly easily, and when compared to the clutch itself, fairly cheaply.I'm anticipating the same will go for the brakes, although they seemed OK. The fuel system has already been cleaned and a fair amount of wiring sorted.

More than likely years.

The car in question has been sitting for some time, and I'd anticipated moisture but it's (sadly) been a while since I've had to do any serious clutch work so felt it best to ask first. Especially as a new, stock clutch (Sachs) for this car is over $1000 and is an absolute sod to fit.
-
When pressing the clutch pedal, it goes almost to the floor before engaging and allowing a gear to be selected. Possible causes that come to mind include bleed it, replace slave cylinder, and replace clutch. Is any one solution more likely than another? The car has stood for some time.

I'll check when I get home. I'm selling the white coupe as a whole car (as far as possible) but think I have a couple of spares too.

I saw the pics on FB earlier - such a shame.

Yes. Imagine if you got it all back together and the following week... About $100 worth, at a guess?
-
I'll check the one I have in the garage. Barry - it's not for sale but you're welcome to borrow it if that would help.
-
Could it be the same as the E30 one? I don't know, but if it is it'll broaden your search.

I'm intrigued as to who made the discs. Hawk pads I have used and found to be pretty good, if a little 'dirty'.

Meyle... Fine. Akebono... Who? What?

If he really wants to show off, I have a stone-chipped ½million km daily driver he can have a go at! At least it is blue, so it'll look lovely polished up.

Maybe speeding isn't as serious as we've been led to believe?

Licence suspension doesn't atop him doing it again, or even stop him driving the car. Removing ownership does. Still, does seem harsh (especially in light of punishment meted out for other, far more serious crimes), but for a repeat offender it may be the only way to deal with them.

70 hours community service is pretty steep for a 'sustained loss of traction'... How sustained was it? How does the law define 'sustained' in this situation? If it was 20 yards of 'sustained', there may be justification, especially if the person in question has previous. As for a button clutch making the car uncontrollable - should the car be on the road? </Devils's Advocate> We're not told enough to make any sensible judgement... Usual media reporting, really.

Bargain? Not sure. Although, given the prices of 15x7 BBS rims (changed hands for less than 50 quid a set in the UK!) over here they are relatively well priced. If the centre bore really is 55mm, they're too small for an E30 which requires 57.1mm. No mention of offset.

I really like the idea of the phone being face down and still being able to see the time on the 'side' of the screen. I'm getting worse than my daughter. I've never had anything like that, and here I am wondering why everything doesn't do that!
-
There's other places it could happen, but it's extremely unlikely. Sounds like you have the two main culprits under suspicion.

Thanks Christian.
