  1. One more thing I forgot to mention, the impeller blades on the coolant pumps are poor and it is very common for them to fall off. You can't see anything from outside the engine. But you would have probably had symptoms of overheating and there wouldn't be any heat through the cabin blowers either on-top of the pressuring up of the system and coolant loss.
  2. Literally no way to diagnose over the internet (I know you aren't asking for that) and I don't know Wellington. Anyway, that said, what do you mean by experiencing the bottle under pressure? Do you mean coolant was escaping through the cap while under pressure? Because the system works by being held under pressure (there can be too much pressure, this can be evident by swollen coolant pipes which are almost solid if you squeeze them and eventually something will blow or the pressure cap will allow pressure to be released). If the needle hasn't gone above halfway then yes you are correct in saying it hasn't properly overheated (assuming the cooling system has enough coolant in to circulate and flow past the temp sensor) E36 cooling system plastics are poor (I've had to replace almost very part on mine) so there can be leaks anywhere. And it is always possible your head gasket has gone. In the end you just have to have confidence in the ability of the technician working on your car. Hopefully someone here can direct you to one
  3. Good save bro, I had the same issue with mine back in the uk. Apart from where they drain down the A-Pillar down into the box section, along with salt being thrown up in the winter, pretty much the whole structure of the car had rusted away. I'd wondered why the passenger side carpet was getting wet, it turns out you could put you're hand through into the wheel arch and touch the strut. No idea where the previous owner had been getting MOT's plus I definitely shouldn't have bought it on a dark evening : s
  4. I used to MOT (WOF) in the UK and as has been mentioned just watch out for the legal side of things, if you have HID dipped beam and you don't have auto headlight levelling utilising front and rear axle height sensors AND also don't have a headlight wash system installed it won't be legal. But you could always throw the halogens back in when it comes around to test time!
  5. Looking cool in that colour dude!
  6. Ha yeh must be! Those wheels get put on everything and anything
  7. The perfect 36 and for some reason I love a bit of lowered ex police cruiser
  8. Hey guys radiator is provisionally sold pending pick up. Will contact in order of interest if it doesn't sell for any reason. Cheers for your interest. Tom
  9. Hey! I'm pretty sure that's a fuel breather pipe onto the carbon canister (this is full of charcoal and absorbs fuel vapours which stops them entering the atmosphere). So you're yet to find your coolant leak. Not sure what engine you're working with but I'd be looking in radiator/expansion tank/thermostat housing areas for a split/leak and possible failure of the water pump which could have caused your overheating/explosion. Very common BMW things
  10. Na I don't think so, the coolant circuit layout is a bit different I think, you'd at the very least have to make up different hoses I recon.
  11. It's so that everyone buy's them under the pretence that the world is being saved and that they don't have to pay RUC because of that fact. That will help the government achieve it's emissions targets, THEN once there are many more electric cars on the road, they'll for sure introduce RUC for them so that they aren't missing out on any money/taxes.
  12. Couple of pics of an identical radiator I have fitted in my daily 328i : )
  13. C'mon you know your factory one is going to split any day now.............
  14. Hahaha, deal of the century
  15. BMW e36 328 Fenix alloy race radiator $220. Brand new, only opened the box to take these pictures, selling due to me not needing it anymore! Will fit e36 328 with the expansion tank on the passenger side of the car (I think early models have the tank on the drivers side), this comes as the radiator and expansion rank as one unit, it's a lot stronger than the OEM part. I can ship if you aren't from around here! (Christchurch) Cheers, Tom
  16. Get a tidy e46 m3 and eat some pies to round you out a bit (or wear 3 jumpers)
  17. Sicko. I've driven a couple and they go pretty awesome, wish I could drive like Chris though!
  18. Looks like the perfect old school cruise around keeping it dope mobile, glws, wish I could afford it, would love to give it a home!
  19. Well I've seen both the v8's and i6's need new water pumps for leaks/bearing collapse quite often so if it's in that area then yeah go for it!
