The stuff in the boot is most likely 'Japan Version' Navigation hardware. In japan the navigation works via radio signals, not gps. Jap imports quite often have hard wired road toll equipment installed too, sometimes you get a nice little Japanese woman saying something to you whenever you turn on the ignition : D So at an educated guess I'd say the socket in the boot is something to do with that. The slot you have above your DVD drive is a MiniDisc drive. They we're popular for about a year until MP3 players came about and ruled the world!

Ha, right ok well I might get an xbrace off of a convertible or something (don't know if they fit onto a coupe, will do some research) and then bash up some 4mm Alu plate
-
Well judging by a certain m5 that came into work the other day with a smashed sump (after it had hit the subframe and rack infront of it), I wouldn't rule any scenario out. Cheers though

Does anybody know where to get hold of a sump guard for an e36 328 coupe? I saw one on ebay a while ago in the uk but can't find it anymore, also for obvious reasons it would be easier to get hold of one from over here. Or is it the kind of thing you'd have to fabricate yourself due to not much demand? I'm going on a South Island roadtrip in January and the front end is a little low, I REALLY don't want to smash the sump up in the Haast pass or anything : s Thanks, Tom

Haha, I don't think he expected the explosion to be as big as it was. What a pile of poo that car is
-
I'd be scared to take it out of the garage if I bought that, it's like brand new!

It's a similar set-up to the e92 coupe headlamp I think. Pretty sure they use a halogen bulb that sits in the inner lamp to optically light the Halo/Corona rings for both lamps in the headlight. Then some E60's an later F models use the inner lamp as a corner illumination lamp (similar to where you see Merc/vw front fogs coming on independently when cornering)

A guide to ebay Diamond Keys for EWS3 - E46 and E39 relevant
trottsky replied to M3_Power's topic in Electrical system
Is it the same method for e36 3 button remotes? I've seen empty keys with the buttons and a blank blade for sale on ebay from china I think. I've not seen the chipsets though, not that I specifically searched for them or would know what to type in to find them! -
Never seen one on e46 rims before, looks nice!

I can hereby confirm that (from experience) $450 ish coilovers (£220 from ebay in the uk when I was over there) are safer than the cut springs (and leaky shocks in my case) that my old e30 had when I bought it. Although not ideal and VERY firm I did a 70km round trip commute for a year and it handled awesome : D they didn't fall apart either!
-
I think mine are e34 rims, 17x8.5 et13 and they weren't THAT bad to fit into the rear

Squirt a little bit of oil down the spark bores to get the rings wet again?
-
Looks sweet as dude! Sorry to hear about the sump : s makes me feel a little better about my chassis rails getting raped on speed humps though. Nearly time to swap the snow for surf!

As per title, anyone got an active sub enclosure or a sub and amp taking up space in the garage that they're never going to use again going cheap? I've got amped 6x9's in the 36 but they're not quite enough when I turn up Metallica and the like. Ta, Tom

Considering a r53 mini cooper s 2003-2005 ish
trottsky replied to qube's topic in General Discussion
The electric power steering pump is expensive when it gives up the ghost too but I believe they can be repaired and are easy enough to get at. They're a fairly common fault but I had one for 3 years and it was sweet as -

Mid 2004 onwards are the most sorted ones (lci/facelift), they've got 170bhp over the 163bhp they originally came out with. Plus they just feel altogether better to drive. Weak points are cooling system (mostly thermostats and radiators leaking) and engine oil leaks. They're a bit rattley due to the firm ride but when you find a nice one they're an awesome little car : ) and yeh the charger sounds mint. Loads of mods out there too ref smaller pulleys etc -
Yeh get them brought over dude, Away from the salt!
-
That is immense, sounds amaze balls too

Ha cheers man, yeh I keep doing that looking at big shiny American classics that are always driving around chch (still not used to seeing so many, being from the uk where I never seemed to see any). Yeh I'm really happy with how it looks now. Better start getting round to fixing all the little electrical things now + I'm goin to overhaul the cooling system. Loads to do! We need to get a meet sorted for spring, still haven't met everyone

Looks awesome!

Yep still on there, did you do the conversion to manual as well?

The low pressure fuel sensor and also the high pressure fuel pump can throw up intermittent misfire faults on the n54. It's hard to catch them faulting sometimes via diagnostics as they don't often completely fail. I'm not saying it's definitely that as you're only getting misfires specific to one cylinder, but keep it in the back of your mind, symptoms sound spot on

Yeh 205's up front. I cleaned it all out today when I was eyeing it up and had the wheels off, seemed mostly dirt though if I'm honest. I would have rolled them today but I didn't even know if it was going to rub, I had to go pick up some passengers! It's currently rubbing halfway down the sidewall so I really don't think it'll need that much bending. I don't want it to be obvious that they're rolled so hopefully it won't! Gonna get it done Monday/Tuesday after work when I've got a spare hour
