  1. Wow didn't think they could fetch that much. There was another a while back that took a while to sell for 25k, damn I should have swapped my 335i for it! I suppose the upgrades helped, they seemed well chosen.
  2. That must have been a fun drive, some of those roads heading towards Willington are great fun in a sporty car. Especially Rimutaka Hill Road if you don't get stuck behind slow traffic.
  3. Looking at their website, seems they only do bikes? I imagine they'd at least need someone else to remove the exhaust for them and bring it over?
  4. Thanks guys, I'll call around tomorrow and see who has time to do it
  5. I live in Botany Downs and have the week off work so want to get this done this week. I want the mufflers modified and new exhaust tips welded on (I have the new tips) Straightforward job that involves opening the mufflers to replace some perforated pipe inside with straight pipe (or wrapping it, whatever works). Google "Modifying the stock exhaust to sound like the BMW Performance Exhaust" to see the procedure if interested. So far I've had a place called Mighty Mufflers say they can do it but they aren't replying to my emails when I ask them when I can bring my car in (emailed Sunday, no response yet). So they're probably too busy for this week. Anyone else that's recommended?
  6. My leaking KW shock is being done by Autoalign at a reasonable price. BM Workshop removed and dropped the shock off at their shop while they service my car. Allycat, why do you say that? Did they do a crap job or were they too expensive?
  7. Saw some on Trademe before, try searching for BMW 335i in parts section and see what you find. Not sure you'll be saving anything though.
  8. What about just getting a good shock/spring combo? Not much point paying extra just be be able to adjust unless you plan on messing with that. I have KW V2s on my 335i coupe, have left them bang on the recommended stiffness setting and have no reason to adjust from there. They're on about max height because that's as low as you can manage in Auckland without destroying the front bumper and some speedbumps touch the underside of the car if I don't creep over them. Bilstein make various kits, look for the one that matches what you want, eg: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5393-e90-335i-sedan-hrbilstein-sport-suspension-package/ https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-22135-e90-335i-sedan-bilstein-b12-pro-kit-sport-suspension-package/
  9. It'll probably be an overseas buyer.
  10. Woah, it's even manual. Wonder if it'll actually fetch that much? Will take a real dedicated enthusiast with deep pockets to buy it. Most people would spend that budget on something newer.
  11. What is your pricerange? I'm guessing around the 50k mark? Do you want coupe or sedan? What do you need as far as practicality goes? If you don't need sedan, the coupes look nicer and are more fun... M6 is also an option if you want the V10. Problem is the V10 cars are both rather ugly (IMO), but they make up fort it with the sound... Also, SMG gearbox that eats pumps and clutches, and has a reputation for being clunky so not the nicest around town, they will have the biggest maintenance bills. E92 M3 could be a good balance, still some decent room for storage. Coupe has fold-down rear seats so heaps of room for hauling s**t. The V8 sounds awesome. Edit: At that price range you may want to look at Porsche Caymans as well...
  12. Go for the the 135i only if you want high performance. Very fast and fun cars but come with extra potential costs. The first one you linked is a great combo, DCT and N55 (same as my 335i, same dealer I bought mine from even), which is hard to find I think. If you go for the 135i the newer N55 engine is considered more reliable, but the N54 has more 'cheap' performance potential if you modify it. 130i if you can find would be a great balance between power, cost and reliability. Those engines are known to be very reliable, no turbo but still put out 270hp. 120i... only if you find them cheap, no other advantage to having the bottom of the range engine.
  13. It really comes down to basic English. Is it operated automatically or manually? Dictionary makes no mention of clutch or torque converter when defining these words...
  14. Yea most modern autos let you do that... It's operating the clutch and changing the gear for you... If you still don't get it, look up manual and automatic in a dictionary. I don't get why we're going against basic English when it comes to gearboxes?
  15. Agreed. I love manual's but I'd feel daft telling people mine was a manual (335i with DCT, which also has no torque converter). It's quite simple, are you shifting gears manually or is an automated system changing it for you? And by shifting manually I mean operating the clutch yourself. Also it makes searching Trademe ect easier. If yoiu want a manual you're going to put that in your search folder, and get pissed every time you open an ad and see the interior photos which show it being SMG... Seen the same BS on E9x M3s and 335is with DCT transmissions.
  16. MHD is dirt cheap and has ongoing support. I say start with that, and if you feel like spending more maybe add on a JB4. I don't have either (N55 so no MHD support), but I've wasted enough time on forums too see that there is more happening with MHD as the devs are still active.
  17. Could be a good buy at a low price. Need to consider what needs to be done to bring it up to a state you'd be happy with. Personally I'd have to get rid of tacky LEDs, get proper tyres for it. Probably new wheels too, really don't like those ones especially in black. I'd also want to know what the paint is like underneath and maybe budget for a respray if it's not good, because I really don't like that car in white.
  18. How long since an oil change? If it's a year or more than I'd say do an oil change. If it's much less... I reckon you'll want to have the leak fixed.
  19. Why can't some people do the basic math on the milaege when they put up the ad? Stupid to put in miles when it displays km next to the figure. I also reckon it's not going to sell at that price. More like 20k.
  20. Comparing pics, really looks like it could be the exact same part. Suppose bus makers wouldn't care about style and would buy any headlight they can get in bulk at a reasonable price.
  21. Auckland has several good BMW Specialists. Botany Motor Works, BM Workshop, Bellars Motor Works are some of them. I'd say service a trans at about 100 000km intervals but I'm not sure it's an exact science, you could ask the workshop to check the fluid and advise.
  22. Haha nice, ok they clearly BS'd me
  23. You read my post before I reworded it, not that it makes a difference. That's interesting if true. Did you confirm via Carjam? Maybe they said it hoping I'd either buy the 1 auto they had in stock or bugger off. Wouldn't surprise me, didn't feel too welcome there.
  24. Err you didn't read my post properly. There are manuals, but they weren't brought in by BMW NZ. I bet if you look up the plate from that guy next door using Carjam, you'll see it's imported, probably from the UK or Japan.
  25. There are no NZ new manual 335is. That's what the staff at Auckland City BMW told me. Only Jap and UK imports, nothing wrong with them but just something to know. I have seen a couple on Trademe in the past. You'll have to be patient if you're set on one. Do give the auto or DCT models a chance though. Even the auto is a very high end unit, 100ms shift times and torque converter is only used for pulling off from a standstill, so it will beat any manual unless The Flash himself is driving it.
