  1. Looked into getting myself one but I when I browse by car models and choose E9x with CIC it says "IMPORTANT INFOMATION: Japanese spec BMW is not supported...." My E92 is a Jap import with CIC iDrive but it's been set to English, radio region set to NZ and loaded with NZ maps. Would it work? I'd install and code it myself, just gotta set up a laptop for coding again....
  2. And in the city they're the worst for running red lights. Busses be crazy.

    E91 Battery

I think you're supposed to code it. There's a procedure to reset the battery life so itknows there is a new batter, and there are other parameters for type and Ah rating I believe. Maybe ask one of the places like BM workshop, I'm sure they can do better than $400, that's crazy...
  4. Well yea, true, you could probably get a real 2010 model at 54k haha.
  5. Yea I see someone pointed out it has a bade sound system, not Harman Kardon, aka Karmon Haridin as he spelt it... Despite the ad having some dodgy aspects it still seems like a decent buy, depending on condition. It didn't sell though, looks like the 45k bid was not reserve and he's sent a fixed price offer of 54k.

    19" M359 Replicas

If you're able to take a photo of the stamping on the inside of the wheel we might be able to identify a brand? Can only make the value go up because otherwise the assumption will be that it's a Chinese no-name special. They do look nice...
  7. Yes but someone has told him and his response was simply "it's a 2010". And there's a bunch of unanswered questions on the action which I imagine he doesn't want to be shown. One is from me telling him that the VIN on Carjam is from a 2008 build and asking him if the VIN is correct or if the car just has different plates in the photos (before I started this thread, I thought it could be an innocent mistake like that...)

    BMW E91 trim

Wrapping is also a good option. Genuine aluminium trim tends to be pricey, and the used stuff tends to be dented/scratched all over... A few places that will wrap it, or you can buy the wrap and DIY, it's not super hard apparently but requires patience f you want it to look good.
  9. They have some extra reinforcement, however they have no problems running regular tyres.
  10. That was a member on here I believe, I remember seeing him post about it before that Trademe ad appeared
  11. If I bought a car and found out afterwards that the real age was hidden from me, I'd be pissed. Its common sense that a buyer wants to know how old the car is. Putting off registration for two years and trying to sell the car as a 2010 is misleading. People know it takes a few months for a car to get built, shipped, registered ect so having been built a few months before the year started is normal and expected, but two years is not.
  12. Still think it's taking the piss to call a car built in Jan 08 a 2010 car. Would it be worth as much as a 2010 car built in 2010? I don't think so. It's built to 2008 specs, missing any production changes that would have come with a 2010. Oh well, now I know it's something to watch out for when car shopping.
  13. I see... still, it can't be legal to advertise it is a later model just because it's registered late, surely?
  14. Speedbumps suck, more and more of them have been appearing over the years and you can barely drive anywhere without dealing with them... Just an annoyance making you brake and accelerate unnecessarily, and they affect lower sports cars much more than high clearance vehicles so the moms in their oversized shopping carts can still blast over them while I have to slow to a crawl... Traffic island chicanes seem less annoying and affect all vehicles in the same way... http://www.sfbetterstreets.org/find-project-types/pedestrian-safety-and-traffic-calming/traffic-calming-overview/chicanes/ Much more fair solution than bumps, but more expensive I guess.
  15. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1040782747 Rego is HWF225 Serial is PY36151 Look it up and it shows the car was built in Jan 2008, but it's registered (and advertised) as a 2010. How does that happen? Dodgy dealer?
  16. Just glue the Velcro back on, or buy new Velcro if it's gone? No need to replace the whole mat unless something else is wrong.
  17. The usual BMW specialists can handle it. BM Workshop, Bellars Motor Works ect. CoolCar if you need a place that does it without booking, but if they find issues like a leak or something then I'd rather go to a BMW workshop to get it sorted....
  18. The E60s have depreciated quite badly, they're generally around the 30k mark. I think the main reasons are their looks and maintenance costs.
  19. The only place where a car like that can do what it does best is in Germany on the Autobahn. But that doesn't stop rich people in other countries buying them
  20. He was probably BS'd by some dodgy tuner or mechanic and isn't too clued up. I don't think someone would knowingly advertise such BS on Trademe...
  21. Still gotta work the clutch when traffic is crawling which gets annoying. And it just seems a bit sad to put a classic M5 through that. Not that I feel too great about doing this to my 335i either, it's racking up mileage faster than I'd like...
  22. It's just the kind of car that only appeals to a certain type of enthusiast. Most people spending that kind of money on a car will buy something newer because that's the safer option. I drive my 335i daily to work in Auckland, I wouldn't want an old manual M5 for that as much as I'd absolutely love the car. And I can't afford to have both. Most people who want it can't really afford it or the upkeep. It's in great condition but you need to take care of it to keep it that way. I think it's well worth the asking price, but it'll take a while to sell because you need to wait for an enthusiast who wants one and can afford it... Sure the seats and wood trim might not suit everyone, but if you're after an E39 M5 you can't afford to be fussy on that Ok now you're tempting me. 335i DCT or E39M5 + cash... It's just my drive to work, will be hell for the M5 and no fun putting a manual V8 through that
  23. Really? People do this all the time. HellBM for example, they'e a workshop that also parts out BMWs and sells the parts. Got used parts off them myself, although I ended up fitting them myself because they happened to be easy enough. But they fix and service cars as well as supply used parts from cars they part out, so I'm sure they'd fit them too... Another mechanic I used to use for my old car, I'd regularly supply my own parts. Although his mobile mechanic business isn't around now I think, he runs a performance tuning shop now by the looks of it.... I've never expected a mechanic to give me any warranty on parts I've supplied. BMW Workshop let me order in a BMS Chargepipe for my 335i... I've heard of plenty of people getting used engines and transmissions, who even buys those new?
