  1. From a dealer? See if you can get the mechanical insurance added in for free, generally easier than negotiating the price down. $1000 is less than your average repair bill for these cars, just one issue is enough to make that worthwhile.
  2. I can't recall if the phone button works, I think it does. But the next/prev track buttons work (and volume, of course). There's other kits out there which won't respond to the next/prev buttons, especially any that work via an aux input.
  3. Ordered a Grom Bluetooth kit for mine from the US. Think I used Youshop to save on shipping too. Total about $140. Installation was easy enough so did it myself. Replaces the CD player connection so car sees it as a CD player. Works great, radio controls to skip track ect work, as do any steering wheel controls. Comes with a mic too, wire can go behind the gauge cluster if you install it there, calls work great. So such good cheap options for the new E92 with iDrive, it's either spend ~1k or just get one of those units that plugs into the aux input which is what I've done
  4. "START AND DRIVE VERY SMOOTHIES" It makes SMOOTHIES? Buy it! Haha. Yea price is rather high, if that's your budget maybe rather look at E90s. Otherwise I'm sure you can find much cheaper ones, not sure SMG is worth the premium...

    Style 32 Alloys

You can buy them for 7k, I'll even throw in a free car: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=912829600 Good luck though, they're hard to find but look awesome on an E46.
  6. Cost of the warranty might vary. Dealer quoted me $1500 for a 3 year autosure warranty. Excess is $350 and covers up to $5000. Or I could pay $2000 for the extreme warranty that covers some extra items and up to $10000. In the end he gave me the standard 3 year warranty for free. Think negotiating a free warranty is easier than negotiating the price down, at least the dealer I dealt with said yes right away when I asked. This was for a 2010 BMW 335i, not the E46 on my profile, I'm sure that one would be way to high mileage for a warranty.
  7. Edit: Removed, I was wrong. I thought 135i had a different trans to 335i but researched and found I was wrong. 135i has ZF auto trans like the 335i.
  8. The 18s on my E46 are genuine BMW, made by BBS and they are super light. Can easily carry one in each hand with the tyre off and I'm not very strong. Have handled 17 and 15 inch wheels that were heavier (compared with tyre on as obviously tyre will have a larger profile on smaller wheels), so I think maybe check weight instead of just size.
  9. They must be quite a bit heavier, think that's more the issue rather than the size/width itself. BMW does supply bigger and wider wheels with the higher end models after all. Replicas I guess? Think the good genuine ones are made to be quite light. They look good
  10. Don't know if we have DCT versions here, DCT is pretty awesome if you can get one. Shifts as fast as you can click those paddles.
  11. Hmm wonder if I could take the bits required for Bluetooth and set it up on my car? I have an E92 with CIC iDrive and it doesn't have Bluetooth atm. If there's an opportunity for a cheap Bluetooth retrofit here I'd love to buy the parts off you but I'm not sure what I'd need at the moment, might need to do some research.
  12. Yes, at least once in another thread a while back where I posed the same photo of my car
  13. Thanks. Live right by their Botany workshop so might stop by there. Thinking I'll get a lip for the font bumper too, should help protect it.
  14. It's an asymmetric tyre, not directional, so it's correct Bridgestone Potenza Re 002
  15. Notice you have KW Coilovers. I just bought a 335i which came with them, V2 I think, has adjustable height and damping at least. They're currently a bit low for my liking, hard to get around Auckland without scraping... Did you set them up yourself or can you recommend someone for this? Not sure I want to have a go at it myself, might stuff it up and can't really tell what a good setting for damping would be. Want to see if I can get them to a setting that's more suitable for Auckland.
  16. She's for sale More details up on Trademe: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=912829600&ed=true Feel free to ask questions in this thread too, I'll be checking up on it. Edit: Sold!
  17. You'd probably get the best deal by importing them.
  18. So I took it home today. Here are my two toys in the driveway: E46 is of course now up for sale (Bad quality photo unfortunately)
  19. Pretty impressive, can see what some mods would look like on your car.
  20. I asked him, he said it was definitely the exhaust and offered to block off the valve for me if I wanted. The mechanic who inspected didn't suspect it was faulty, he just said it might need a service. Dealer insisted they all make the same noise. To be honest I actually wanted to take it to either BM Workshop or your place but the dealer complained it was too far. Exact report below: Slight rattle from rear exhaust flap at idle when cold. Multiple small stone chips in windscreeen Aftermarket brakes fitted - unknown quality but perform OK. Very slight whine from AC compressor - suggest servicing? Road test to 100km/h briefly - traffic heavy After market suspension fitted - adjustment tool kit in boot. Vehicle appears to be in good condition for its age/mileage Check DCT fluid - OK. What do you think, should I hit him up about it again? Was going to pay this week and pick it up on the weekend. These guys inspected it: http://www.motorservice.co.nz/ Had no prior experience with them, they were good to deal with and were going to do the DCT service until they inspected the fluid and found out that it looked near-new.
  21. Tested it on Sat. Car was cold when I arrived so started it up and listened for the exhaust rattle. Couldn't hear any, sounded fine. Dealer let me take it for a good test, drove towards Whitford so I could try a bit of a country drive and they were happy for me to drive it hard. Tried sport and manual mode, floored it a few times. Sure is fast, and the DCT is amazing. Shifts seem instant. Kickdown is fast too. Throttle was clearly more responsive than the N54 (2008) one I tested too. Yea I'm buying it
  22. Mechanic who did the PPI told me that the DCT fluid actually looks brand new as if it was replaced very recently, advised me to rather not replace it. Dealer also told me the final quote he ended up getting was less than $500 anyway so he'll discount the car price. So I'll save some money and skip it. PPI noticed a few minor issues only. Slight noise from AC Compressor. Probably needs a re-gas. Possible sign of leak? Not a big worry with the Autosure warranty. Chips on windscreen - not sure how bad they are, will look for myself. Also exhaust flap rattle when cold. Golf tee mod is an option I guess, but apparently it makes for a horrible sound on startup and a droning sound on the motorway.
  23. You guys enjoying your 335is? Might have my own next week if the one I want gets past the mechanical inspection and test drive ok
