  1. I thought the main difference in the e39 for 530-540, was (apart from the V8 differences) was in the steering. Rack and Pinion (530), Recirc Ball (540). Changes the steering feel between them. Is this correct, or a misconception on my part? I understand the e60 has a rack regardless of power unit.

    Style 97 or 194

Hi Allan, the Style 194s are a staggered set. 8" front ET34, 8J5 rear ET37. with 225/45R17 on Front no clearance issues whatsoever on my wagon. Hopefully same for your 325Ti. with 245/40R17 on Rear no clearance issues whatsoever on my wagon. Hopefully same for your 325Ti. Hope that helps. Here's the comparison between Style 68 and Style 194 for ya: Front: Style 68 Staggered with Style 194 Staggered (e46 tyre spec) REAR: Style 68 Staggered with Style 194 Staggered (e46 tyre spec)
  3. I figured this would be one you knew
  4. I thought I might spray onto a microfibre towel, then wipe on to the belt.
  5. not bad for 20 year old leather interior eh?!
  6. took my e46 325i Touring for a WoF. Needs two rear tyres (one failed, one at 1.5mm), blimey I usually replace them at 3mm. Got my money's worth there. The speedo's now on 180k kms and pocket change. RE003 245/40/17 on order, still got 3mm on the fronts, Guess I'll take em down to 2mm. Got to clean the seatbelts, theyre a little slow to retract. Not an advisory, though.
  7. come on man, lets have a showroom or project thread on your e91!
  8. since last update, I had the carpets fully valeted, and then took all the photos for sale. Then I got a bit busy and I left it parked on my street. Yesterday I started it for the first time since 10 July - and of course it started first time. Warmed her up, put some air in the tyres, and took her out for a recommissioning drive. Going very well, my wife will be piloting it for a few days while we get new tyres for the e46. Found a note on it from an old work friend, he might be interested iin buying it. Time to find her a new home.
  9. is that switch setup from a Jag XJ? PS - liking your new motorsport helmet strategically positioned on the hood.

    Volvo?

not sure what the appeal of AWD is in Volvos, they're engineered for exceptional traction in the sub-zero conditions of scandanavia... you'd be surprised how much more grip an FWD volvo offers in inclement conditions compared with a similar Subaru. Volvo parts prices in NZ will have you in tears. Its also harder to find mechanics that understand them. I've run an 855-T5 since 2006. My friend is running an 855-2.0 since 2003, and also runs a V40-T4 wagon, has plenty of fun with it.
  11. not me. I found my supplier through the recommendation of a friend, while shopping around. I found his price was very sharp, like the service, and always return. I know he'll always give me a sharp price - and it may not always be the cheapest. I return because if I don't, he won't be in business... and his service is excellent. I maintain a social connection to a local business, and prefer that over using something like Hyper. In fact I went to see him today, need a pair of RE003's for the rear of my e46. PS: Kelvin at Bridgestone Torrens Terrace. Rated, recommended.
  12. many of them are privately owned.
  13. Hi Gabe, I've been running RE003's and am really impressed. Not only are they sticky, and excellent in the wet, but I'm getting superb life out of them too. Running on e46 (225/45/17 and 245/40/17), and e60 (245/40/18). Well worth considering. Not all Firestone/Bridgestone tyre centres price the same.
  14. yep, I like that iS as well. First photo is shot at a combo of unflattering angle and unflattering focal length. Can't argue it's a sweet hot rod. And I do like the dark burl walnut. comparatively low kms to boot.
  15. yeah fair enough, we have differing opinions. I base mine on some very well-sorted examples of e39 540i that have gone for less than $5k recently. I reckon there's a long tail on the seller's market expectations of what an e39 is actually worth. It's all theoretical as it won't see any of my hard earned. Good luck to seller and buyer alike.
  16. It's a nice colour, though it doesn't increase the price. and it's ex-UK, so includes attendant risk. $3k in my view. $4k5 if all the maintenance is totally taken care of. I like white leather, though couldn't live with it myself. YMMV.
  17. no dramas, we're a broad church. there are others with young minions through to teens.
  18. Welcome, Adrian. Nice looking wagon! Do subscribe to the Wellington Meetings room, be great to see you at any of the meetups in welly that we organise from time to time. More e60/e61 love!
