Wow that's a lot of $$/ -
I have one from my m62tu 540i. Does not look like the one in the photo though. it is with the flat connector.

Thanks Allan. Situation is like this. My car is March 1999 with High cluster / Country = Japan Donor car was February 1998 with High cluster / Country =NZ I tried with Tom from the forum to do the recoding using PA Soft 1.4 through the OBD 20pin port in the engine hood. We could see the IKE module and we could also see the two different sets of data (IKE and LCM show different VIN number and mileage as expected) We tried to reset the ''new'' cluster to default (Mileage=000000km) in order to change the VIN but none of the two was possible. We are now stuck. In my opinion there are two possibilities: 1. The donor cluster is as you say SUPER early version and cannot be recoded. 2. The PA Soft cannot do the trick and I need to use another software. By the way I did try to do the trick using INPA, but I only managed to go half the way through. The program was asking me the ZME...codes or something like that, I did not have them handy so I stopped. What do you reckon I should do? Should I look for a donor cluster dates 1999 or later? Cheers.

What is the best tool to recode an instrument cluster for an E39? It must be able to change the VIN number, not too fussy about the mileage. Cheers

I need one asap. Must be the trunk installed tuner that works with the monitor at the front. Must have RDS. Not fussy about pin type mine is old round type but I can convert easily to flat pin new style. I might also be happy with Japanese version but it must be 2002 or later. Cheers Dimitrios

ok. not sure if the programing procedure you described is correct. did you Google it?
-
just out of curiosity what was included in the individual package? Cheers
-
Is it the infrared remote or radio frequency?
-
Maybe. Anyway a friend was looking for something. He is a great fun of Silver black.
-
I thought it was sold. What's the story?
-
I think you will be better off parting it out. Just a suggestion. Cheers

Mine is 1999 but has facelift lights and widescreen. ONLY reason I might sell is because I get a lot of pressure from my accountant to get a less thirsty car. This is my daily company car and company pays for my petrol. Now new rules have put a Capex 10l/min. Do you want me to send you some photos? 146000km and absolutely MINT CONDITION. Needs only new rocker cover gasket.

I really want this to go to a good house... It is a GREAT car. No joke.

Sad to see her go but I cannot keep her anymore, fiancé goes mental (3 cars) and baby is on the way..... If anybody form the forum would like it or knows somebody that like it I would like to see her stay in the club will reduce the price.... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=934549633 Cheers Dimitrios

Installed the 16:9 widescreen monitor to the 540i. Straight forward job but still get the 4:3 ratio on the screen plus I lost the dolby button for the tape deck. Looks nice though. Looking forward to changing the tv/av module so I can be full 16:9

20 pin obd is the best way despite the fact you also have a obd2 under the steering wheel. 2 things from my side. Correct spark plugs are bkr6equp (3199) Not sure if something else will work properly. Also I have a spare MAF brand new if you want to make a test. You need to allow time though because your ecu takes a while to adapt the new readings. Good luck with it. Cheers
