I got a set of style 66’s about a year ago off the forums for $550 IRC. They were clean but had a little bit of curbing. I put a new set of potenza’s on for $1100. Have treated me well.

Replaced front brake pad sensor on the E39, good bye check brake lines message.

211,450km installed new lemforder control arms. Tension and thrust arms both sides. I hadn’t done this earlier due to @rusteee having already done them 30,000km earlier with Meyle HD ones (which still looked really good when I pulled them out?) But the big news is that it has cured the 100km shimmy i had. This was a lasting frustration I’ve had with this car since purchase, so I am so happy to finally have it silky smooth as it should be. I ordered the arms from FCP in two orders to avoid gst and they were on the limit @400 each side but they both came in under the radar. Since these seem to be a real consumable on the E39 I’m hoping to be able to use FCP’s lifetime warrenty should they fail in the future.

211,250 km replaced the battery ground terminal today with OEM Part #: BMW-12421436910 I had broken the bolt on the old one trying to tighten it after experiencing a couple of bricked car scenarios due to it losing contact. Also eliminted a front passenger door rattle after finding the screw from the door card to the door missing.

211,000 km loving the Xenons. Worth every dollar. Couldn't resist a quick pic on the way to work this week.

nice work Brent, looks fantastic! Did you get it through the AVIN site?
-
You kept that quiet! I'm keen. I need the exhaust too...

any update on the oil pressure issue @Mikan?
-
Finally made it to a WLG BMW Club meet. Thanks @andyb184 for driving while I figured out my panning settings.

I snapped up @Lucan's Xenons on trademe a while back. After abit of wet sanding and buffing they are in pretty good shape. Installed without having to be coded in too which was cool. Looking forward to going for a drive in the dark now. I also finally put the last two heat shields back on and after checking for oil leaks since the major overhaul (bone dry) put the splash guard back on.

Thanks for the replys everyone. @3pedals good to know re the Bilsteins. The koni's are significantly more expensive at: FRONT: 87411372SPORT @ $620.96 gst incl each. Currently nil stock. 9 weeks min; delay from ordering. REARS: 82401156SPORT @ $424.03 gst incl each. Currently in stock. But I am a firm believer of do it once do it right. @Olaf I'll catch up with you on Sunday, if it's dry I'll probably have the E30 but if it's wet I'll bring the 540i.

Cool. Was that noticeable difference a positive or negative one? in case anyones interested so far I have these prices: From Speed : 1x front Sachs OEM @$427.57 incl gst and 1x rear $363.43 incl gst From George Stock : 1x Koni sport front @$620.96 incl GST and 1x rear $424.03 incl GST FCP sachs OEM works out at $315.67 NZD landed for 1x front shock....but to avoid gst I would have to ship one at a time.

Hi everyone, I'm toying with the idea of replacing the shocks on my 2000-Msport 540i at the moment it has the factory Sachs shocks in it. Does anyone have any recommendations/experiences they could share? I'm not looking for any performance gain or drop. Will be keeping the factory M-sport springs. Anyone put the Koni Str-t's in the 540 or KYB's? Or should I just spend the money and go OEM Sachs? Thanks in advance, Adro.

Tow bar wired into LCM. We ( @andyb184) wired in the trailer harness to the LCM. The loom had been cut short (a foot short of the B pillar) It's running into the OEM trailer module in the boot. So the loom was extended and then soldered into the correct wires (ones already taken like indicator/brakes) and the data/fog light cable pinned into the LCM. Haven't got a trailer to hook it up to and test yet but it's not throwing any codes as is (touch wood). Oh and I found a dollar under the font seat. Now i need to vacuum ;-)

Awesome, works great. Thanks.

E30 got a new OEM antenna

Yeah, I spent about the same amount as what the MBI is for this car. Hindsight i probably should have just waited for the guides to fail but my OCD got the better of me...I do love a bit of preventative maintenance.

Yeah, was abit of a silver lining being forced to daily the E30 Catch up soon.
-
Thanks @rusteee, that catch can setup you had was nicely engineered. Have done about 300km since the overhaul and all seems to be well.

It's a Noelex 22, it's abit dunga but it's fun to race round the buoys at Evans bay when I can find some crew. Needs abit of TLC like the old cars ;-) Yes, that is a huge enlarger, in fact I think theres 3 huge englargers in there. Helped a friend re-locate them from the Raumati photo school out here to eastern suburbs.

Hi, I'm looking to return my E39 exhaust back to factory. It's had the 'scuba tank' deleted. I'm looking for the sport muffler which I think is the version that has the straight tip out the back, no dump pipe. Would need posted to Wellington. Anyone done the delete and have their old muffler lying round? Cheers, Adro.

Took it up to Auckland for Xmas and then over to Raglan for New Years and then back to Welly. Didn't miss a beat and got to stretch it’s legs. Stopped in and met @Lucan and picked up the roof racks he was selling a while back. Back down to Welly and gave the new snow foam lance a go Thought it was a gimmick but it's really good. At 208,000km I have just replaced: - Timing chain guides - Timing chain - Oil seperator (returned to OEM setup as PO had installed a catch can system) - Vanos Seals - Valley Pan - CCV - Water Pump - Thermostat - Coolant temp sensor - Engine mounts - Upper oil pan gasket - Lower oil pan gasket - Crank seal - Fuel Filter - Oil Filter - BMW coolant Thanks @Etwenty1 for hiring out his timing tool. Now that this is all done I will hopefully make it to the next Wellington Club meet. This ended up being a lot more time consuming than I thought and ended up having the car off the road for the last 7 weeks using spare hours here and there to get it done, learnt a lot and had to ask lots of questions from more mechanically minded mates but got there in the end. Here’s a few pics from my journey. I don't think I actually took a finished engine bay photo...but you get the idea. I do really regret not painting the rocker covers but I was pretty over it being in bits at this point...

actually yeah I think I'm confused with the RX's that I swapped with style 66's. My bad.
-
The want is strong. Sure you don't want to swap a staggered set of style 66 ET 10 with brand new rubber ;-)

Newbie from Welly saying hello - will post pics soon.
