221188 km Installed modLight2 module today: https://modbmw.com/shop/modlight2/ Since I've already spliced the GROM unit into the stereo harness in the dash I opted to splice this into the CD changer loom in the boot, which turns out is way easier/roomy. I've since added a zip tie to keep it there. It's a bit of a one time program so I'm too concerned about having it mounted upside down. Features: Mirrors fold with long press of the key fob, unfold upon unlocking 'Follow me' style lights when locking and unlocking (you can have the thing light up like a disco ball..I have just opted for the default which is park lights on unlock and high beams on lock.) Custom welcome message which is a bit of a lol. That's all i've signed up for at the moment, i might change the courtesy indicator to 3 clicks but I'm not fussed. Conclusion: The sunroof and window close function still work with the long press of the key fob and the Grom unit still runs as it should which was a relief. I'm really happy with this little upgrade. Makes the car feel a touch more modern than it is. I'll upload a video of it working in action soon.

New lens meant car 'test' photos. Teamed up with @mossline to go double trouble.

I'm running business RDS and it defaults to whatever input it was on before it was turned off it.

I have the unit also behind the HVAC. Not sure what the distance was from the posi taps. Was planning on soldering them in at some point but wanted to make sure everything worked first. Soldering could be an option?

I havent noticed any whining.....but the V8 + muffler delete might have something to do with that ? I went to New Plymouth a few weeks ago and the GROM worked perfect...I finally used the USB charge function too. I still haven't hooked up the mic yet, have you? Did it whine before you upgraded the speakers?

Man, be glad you don't have style 5's! This combined with a pressure washer makes really light work of the wheels https://www.detaildepot.co.nz/product/carpro-iron-x-lemon-scent-iron-filings-and-contaminants-cleaner-1l/ -
@hunter both don't do anything to the beam as far as I can tell, I just like the modern look of the white light. I did see these recently though https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-12129-led-bright-white-angel-eye-bulb-upgrade-e39-e60-e63-e65-x5-x3/ Would be keen to see how much brighter they are.

Yeah genuine. Yeah I thought it was abit extreme too, especially since last time he was here I showed him them and he said yeah no problem $120.

Hi, Wheel Magician don't think they can fix my wheel and they believe it needs to be sandblasted and repainted. Who does more extensive wheel repair work in Wellington....or Auckland? Wheel in question: Cheers, A.
-
Perfection^ ? That makes sense. My old one had black stitching, this new one came out of the boot of that grey M5 with the insane air intakes that was for sale recently, but it was facelift so who knows where this wheel actually came from. Best $100 i’ve spent.

Not sure what the deal is with the different coloured stitching? Anyone know?

2185XX km Few cosmetic things tidied up today. Bonnet resprayed It was always a little dull but it really has faded to the point it was starting to get a big rust patch in it. The Body Stable in Miramar did the work. Before: After: Seemed like a good time to put some gloss black grills in and new badge. New mirror glass: The last one I got to replace the leaking one was for the smaller mirrors, now we are back to big mirrors on both side Steering wheel: I wanted the facelift one but with the airbag recall and not what it was murky waters. I picked this up for a bargain on trademe and fitted my airbag which isn't a takata defective one. Big difference is this has no leather missing from the wheel itself and also has some nice tri colour trim. I gave it a going over with the toothbrush before installing. before: after:

Those off sets look alittle high to me. My Mpars for example are 18x8 et 13 and 18x9.5 et 25. Also you need to make sure the center bore is 74.1 too. PS my Mpars are still for sale ?
