The fact that Toyota CEO publicly refuted her claim should be enough to put to rest, but it seems her faithfuls are always there to go into bat for her. Top of the line Ram 2500/F250 is around $60k USD. Here they are about $180k. Top of the line electric F150 is said to be $90k USD. Fact is someone who forked out mega dollars for an 850i in the early 1990s had comparable power to a V8 Holden which cast iron block and heads dates back to the ‘60s. ‘91 had the 200kw VP GTS/Senator, 1993 the VR stroker 215kw and 95 the 225kw.

To be fair, if you’re going to compare top of the range, the VN Group A SS was 290hp/215kw. As far as power goes the M70 was decent in the late ‘80s but a disappointment to carry it through into the ‘90s for flag ship models when the game had moved on. Coupled with the E32s ultra tall gearing made it a bit of a slug. The 560 Benz walks away from it. The m60/m62 v8s showed them up. Unsure if the first E31s had the same gearing as the E32, but I think the lack of performance from them can be excused with how they look.

For large sedans I’d hang out for an S65. Don’t come up that often but the ones that have, have been around the $50k mark. V12 twin turbo, 450kw (from memory) and 1000nm. There is also the CL63 Coupe. These have good lines, pillarless coupe. Only one on TM at the moment. Over priced at $50k, they’re usually around the $30k mark. What would be the going rate for a decent E34 M5 these days. At a guess they’d be pushing 6 figures... What is cool is subjective. I find Citroen DS and 1970s - 1980s unloved 6 metre long American land yachts cool while I wouldn’t look twice at an R35 GTR, Audi R8 or the latest M or AMG cars. New models are spurring increased interest in these older cars. Reliability is comprised. High R&M costs, over complicated and unnecessary tech. Limited DIY. Most models across all makers these days are boring as sh*t, placing more emphasis on gimmicky tech features instead of driving dynamics and driver engagement. Hence why cars like this will demand high prices until they’re legislated off the road or the post boomer & early gen X generation don’t have the interest or money to sustain high prices.

Not very valid comparisons. If they were, older cars would be dirt cheap because they fall short to newer models across the board. Why would someone drop 6 figures on a Valiant Charger when they can get a 700hp Hellcat with air con and all the latest features. Why would someone spend $100k on a 930 911 when they could get a 996 Turbo for the same price etc. I'd be surprised if even a handful of buyers would genuinely cross shop this with an E60 or F10. When was the last time an E34 (or E39) M5 were publicly listed for sale? Not as if theres an over supply of them. The way I see it is the asking price is consistent with the increase in values of all decent models from various maker up to the early 2000s. Ten years ago you could pick up a Intergra Type R DC2 for $7k. Now the cheapest one on TM is $28k. I could list dozens of vehicles who've seen their prices increase by hundreds of percent over the last decade. Its all relative. The red E30 M325i currently with reserve met is proof of this.

That was an Australian assembled fully optioned one I think. A bit OTT for a Kingswood. Especially when a desirable US car can be had for a lower price - Big block late 60s Charger, Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, Rivera, Impala SS etc. General consensus here is this E28 is over priced (actually, that seems to be the thoughts on any car featured on BS). To be fair, with the state of the roads, unsealed road works etc. And the retarded NZ tail gating driver who take more interest on their phone than what is in front of them. I'd be hesitant on driving something like that regularly. Maybe on the more quieter back roads. Defiantly not in the cities or on state highways.

I can't say I'm a fan of those wheel on the Dunedin car, but it looked to be a tidy example when on TM. Another E34 listed today for a decent price and what looks to be in above average condition. I can't get over the value of these. Its not 540i6 or M5 but I'm looking at offloading my E34 535iS if that may interest you...

Shipping is awesome too. I made a rock auto and pelican parts order last week and the rock auto turned up in 5 business days, pelican was 6 and also more expensive for shipping.not bad enough to not use pelican. They do have the greatest range of parts I’ve found. A heads up for rock auto. for shipping in your cart, items will have A, B, or C next to it referring to what location they’re dispatched from. If buying multiple items try and get them from the one location as this reduces shipping costs. Also, their stock list for individual cars could be better. for example I have a 6 cylinder S Class Mercedes. They didn’t list any engine mounts for it. But the E Class have the same mounts and it had a listing. The same with the steering dampener. I had to select the V8 S Class to get the same dampener. or just copy and past the part number in their search bar and it should bring the part and respective vehicle up.
