Dad has had a Bell STI R in all of his cars from 08 on, and has saved his skin and mine recently on countless occasions. Uniden and all those lower range models in my experience arn't very good because when they go off the cop has all ready clocked you and has his/her lights on. Before the STI r he had the V1 on his HSV but week after having it in, someone broke into it and ran off with the thing down some railway track =/ Uniden's and cobra's hanging from your windscreen in my opinion make your car look pretty tachy, and give off false alarms, make annoying sounds when you drive past warehouses with security alarms. Often these alarms are X or K band but some of us I think have found out the cameras inside vans are mostly K Band and so we have to live with some false K band alerts. The V1 is awesome, if you can get a 2nd hand one with recent software on it you can't go wrong with you money and is really cheap insurance. However, its pretty likely if you have a M3, M5, or anything you have spent lots of your hard earned cash on you want to be able to enjoy it in confidence =D So you'll want to go off and spend 4 digits on a Bell Sti-r/Laser Jammer combo =D Even hardwire your V1 into your dash to get rid of that annoying wire handing from you windscreen. I'm after a V1 cause I can't afford the whole Bell/Jammer set up but in the m3 this combo saved us so much $$ in fines. If you have an M3, M5 or anything like you, lets not bullsht you not always going to be sticking to the speed limit and you don't want your M sport car to be ruined by a tacho plastic thing on your windscreen. I think the V1 is the best value for your money but if you want to enjoy the luxuries the Bell offers, then go spend the extra money cause over 3-4 years its paid itself back on the E55, M3 and x5 atleast 3-5 times what he paid for it.

Post Track Hack Update =D Day was awesome, thanks to james again for organizing it. Had so much fun, couldn't get enough especially in the afternoon when everyone was watching the skid pad =D Think I got the hang of the corners but as soon as I needed some power I got slaughtered and raped by every one. I didn't mind cause I got round 42 laps in and was so happy I was even laughing when I got sideways or when I went straight ahead at turn 2 =) Best Lap time recorded by Dad's stopwatch was a 1:36 which I was really happy with considering I started the day with no track time or more than 3 hours in a manual car =D My 50/50 road tire combo worked well too!!! Can't wait for the next day. Im totally in love with Hampton Downs, and have already got my list of things to do for the next day. - Rear Shock mounts fitted =) - Fix massive problem with exhuast. - Dyno tune ( I know its not a really important but my shocks were fine and more power would help =) - Replace all cooling hoses ( one pipe was rubbing on the alternator and leaked lots of water ) Thanks to Dan, Ray and everyone who helped with that =) - TOYO's =DDDDDDDDDD maybe koni's.

=( guy who did the fix, when he did this temp fix that he vouched would last a few weeks... he had wrapped tap round the end of the hose blocking the water from getting through we got pictures of it and if there is any damage to the engine we'll be going after them.
-
f**ken cheap AA job done two days earlier to fix a brittle hose had gave up under pressure ( was assured by him it would hold )... only just got home now after a 5 hour wait for the tow truck... =( Thanks a lot James, really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next day! Will post my pics up in a minute.
-
almost sure its water from the hose as its all dried up now.
-
Yea it did. real weird. But i caught some with my hand and it didn't smell coolant so im thinking its dripping from all the covers under the engine, from water that was sitting there after he gave it the hose.
-
Dad snapped a coolant overflow hose or something this hard plastic crap. was really brittle, so AA guy fixed it. Now however this is a small amount of water dripped from somewhere it might but just water sitting in the engine bay after he housed it recently but not sure. We're going to keep an eye on the tempt guage tomorrow and fill it with heaps of water in case but kinda scary not sure though...

BRAKES ARE FIXED! X5 tow car just broke. Dad fiddling and snapped a plastic coolant hose. AA on the way =D Brakes are heaps better. They adjusted the rears well only one as one's screw was stripped and they couldn't get it out but hes adjusted them and its heaps better. Andy drove it and says its fine for the track. Haha all goodz though. =D thanks heath =DDD

how do i check the rear brake adjustment?and im not going near a track with these brakes.

Spent round 2-3 hours bleeding the brakes today with Heath. Flushed out the old crap but the pedal is a bit better but not really as good as I thought i'd be. I still have another master cylinder ready to go in but it would mean buying another 3 bottles of fluid.... and its a bitch to take out and put back in. Andy's coming over tomorrow to see how they compare to his... Heath doesn't think its the master cylinder since its not leaking or something ( i forgot ), so is it a case of just bleeding it until its good ( finding the annoying air bubble ) or does someone has one of those pressure things the mechanics use =) Just want it working a bit better for Sunday =D EDIT: just saw this... http://www.bimmerwerkz.com/forum/3-series-...akes-64930.html
