  1. Dismantling a 1999 E39 528i Japan import Bmw WBADM62070GL54981 I have a set of 4 Style 66's for sale with 4 x good tyres, asking $500 Also a complete set of M/sport front and rear seats, STOFF HEADLINEANTHRAZIT (G3AT) they could do with a clean but overall in good condition $450 Silver interior trim $80 Clear indicator tail lights $80 for the pair. If there is anything you want just ask.
  2. Yeah I end up fixing it anyway, unless it happens away from home. I'm actually thinking a 535i E60 would be ideal, I've been looking at parts and 1 engine bracket and sump are required to fit a 35i into the E60. It would be unique here in NZ and the size of the 5series is more practical than the 3series.
  3. John they are cheaper than $12k now I see them for as low as $6-7k, even the occasional F10 535i is down around $15k or less. There is plenty to be read online about the high pressure pump and injectors, I hadn't heard about the MOSFET in the DME. I would expect maintenance on any car and the more preventative maintenance you do the more reliable the car is usually, although mechanical things do break and stop working when they want to not when you want them to, 75,000km and I recently did the wife's waterpump and thermostat, no warning on that one. What is the fuel economy like on trips? Around town anything seems to chew up fuel.
  4. I'll take the armrest if you've still got it. Please send me a PM with payment details, shipping is to Dunedin.
  5. Who has or has had a E90 335i or a 35i with the twin turbos. I'd like to know what they are like cost wise to maintain and also what they are like on the reliability scale. Always thought one of these in a E60 with a stage2 tune would be a nice combination.
  6. Here's a review of the M5 E39 M5 Review Then the M5 is the star of the movie Movie star Then the short version E39 M5
  7. If you have a look for photos of Alpina E39 B10's online you will find that is how they are, haven't checked the B3 etc to see how they compare to the 5 series Alpina's. I would like a testdrive in the E39 B10 3.3 as they were available in manual and the Alpina E60 B5s would be worth a look at 530 hp.
  8. It looks original to me and there were 5 different engines in the E39 Alpina and all had the engine details on the boot lid, 3.2, 3.3, V8, V8 S and D10
  9. First e39 B10 I've seen for sale in NZ, makes the Imola M5 look cheap https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2420998179.htm?rsqid=02cf67cbb01c495f9b6dd66b6dc484a1-002
  10. Thanks for that but managed to find one for $850 plus $50 freight. 116000km and full NZ service history, much more reasonably priced.
  11. You are the one that called me a "shill' without even knowing who I am. Yes I am an expert in diagnosing, repairing and rebuilding transmissions so what is your point?? Or are you inferring that I'm not?? Prior to becoming a transmission specialist I worked for a BMW dealership, which doesn't mean I know everything but obviously with almost 40 years in the Auto Industry I have more experience than your "over a decade". I've actually owned BMW's longer than you say you have been "fitting solely BMW" parts You are not the person who was wanting a pan gasket and filter, Arata was, and you had to jump in and start "confronting" me when it obviously had nothing to do with you, obviously you lack civility and humility and come across as a bit of a bully. I asked you to please enlighten me as to what your experience and knowledge of Auto transmissions is, you didn't answer the question??? You expect answers about items you have no intention of buying yet can't answer questions yourself, and instead attack the other person. Speaks volumes about you.
  12. You should really find out who you are calling a "shill" before you do so. I've been rebuilding transmissions for over 30 years and only do quality work with warranties, and the price I gave was my cost but I can sell a genuine ZF pan gasket and filter to you for $170 complete with both drain and refill plugs, I'll even pay the freight. With your claimed use of RTV for transmission gaskets I wouldn't even hire you, and you come across as a person who knows everything and can't be taught anything. But who am I to try and correct a keyboard warrior and self proclaimed expert like you.
  13. I have used them for several years in my own car and my wifes. If you are paying $170 for a supposed "ZF" part or some other brand name part then someone is making a bloody good profit because I can buy ZF branded ones for substantially less than that here in NZ. Please enlighten me as to what your experience and knowledge of Auto transmissions is?? Also where do you work, would like to know so I avoid buying anything from there if they sell low quality cheap parts.
  14. Yeah most of the prices I've been given have meant the car isn't worth fixing, for a 18+ year old engine it seems people want gold for them. Even lower mileage N52 engines have been cheaper.
  15. I can supply a pan gasket and filter for a E39 5HP19 for $52.35 plus shipping Cheers
  16. Give me a call, O3 4555133, business hours E39 is a 5HP19 so gasket and filter is less than $170
  17. What is the mileage and how much?
  18. From what I understand the Alpina M62TUB48 has vanos, just cant find a decent pic of the engine to get a good view of the cam covers to confirm this. From what I can tell it was developed from the M62TUB44, while the M62b46 was a development of the M62b44. One article I read intimated the N62TU48 was a development from the M62TUB48, but there are a lot of presumptions about the Alpina motors with very few supported facts. The advantage of a M62b48 would be it would go into a pre TU E39 and just require some tuning. I did read an article about a M62TUB49, which was virtually a M62 bored and stroked using a modified S62 crank, this was getting very close to M5 HP figures.
  19. From what I've read the m62tub48 was developed from the M62tub44, I've always wondered if the N62 4.8 crank would fit in the M62 block, I know a M5 S62 crank can be made to fit the M62. But can you take a TU engine and fit the non vanos heads etc to it??
  20. Is it possible to take a M62TUB4.8 and fit M6244 heads to it?? Thus creating a 4.8l non vanos V8 = a power increase over the standard 4.4l I know Alpina created the M62B46 for their Alpina B10 E39. Anybody done this??
  21. Still looking for a M/sport rear bumper..............anyone???
  22. Has anyone got a good M54B30 engine sitting around they would like to part with?
  23. That would be great if you have, and save on freight........I've sent you a PM..........Cheers
  24. Thanks, that would be great if I was in Auckland, but my arms are a bit short to achieve removal from Dunedin........lol
  25. Has anyone got a E39 motorsport rear bumper they don't require anymore??
