Well this looks promising, replacing the 6hp with a 8hp although quite a good idea it seemed be quite a challenge, but after looking at this it looks like it isn't the challenge it used to be. ZF 8 Speed Swap | E46 Fanatics Forum But is it refined enough to be just wire up the harness, fit the trans and drive it, or do you have to spend countless hours programming it and teaching it to shift? One of the benefits of the latest technology, the software adapts to your driving style and the wear, thus adjustments etc have become a thing of the past, they still need serviced despite what the manufacturer says.

Yep they've all gotten bigger, look at the dimensions the G20 is about the same dimensions as an E39 and the F10/G30 is about the same size as an E38. The E60 was bigger than the E39 but weighed slightly less, about the only successor to have a slight weight reduction..........could be wrong on that. That E46 looks sweeet though, I actually prefer the E46 sedan over the coupe.

So what caused the fire? What I got out of Michaels post is the emissions from the i3 fire, has anyone carried out a study to find out the emissions emitted by an EV going up in flames? Everything I've heard from those that have watched an EV fire is it's over pretty dam quick and once the battery ignites it becomes a chemical fire and isn't easy to put out, chemical fires don't need oxygen to burn.

Same seller for all 3 kiwipen If that 840 was manual I'd be all over it.
-
Yes I do recall that one now, the last ones I saw on TM that were factory manuals were about 15 years ago, there were two that popped up at about the same time. Back then they were a 25k car.
-
That black one was an import and was originally an auto, I thought the price of it was a bit OTT, and the red one at present was originally an auto also. I can't recall the last factory 6spd 540 I saw that was for sale

Makes me wonder what the value of a NZ new 540i with factory fitted 6spd would be worth.
-
The E39 M5 wasn't available until 1999, yet the E39 was available with the 6spd manual from 1995. It would be interesting to know the number of manual E39 540's sold new in NZ and how many have been imported. My guess would be the 6spd manual 540 is rarer than an M5.
-
So are there more E34 540is vehicles in NZ than E39 540is.................just wondering which is the rarer vehicle Just for info the white E34 540i on TM had a trans service and flush at 143967km.

Congrats Jon on your excellent purchase, I do like the Alpina B10 but wouldn't sell my E39 540is to buy one. Would love one of those F3/0 engines to put in front of my 6 speed manual.

I have a pair of headlights, bi xenon adaptive, both been recently polished and coated.

Transplant a N54 into the E61, it's lighter than the F chassis.

Trademe has a South African import 540is listed at the moment, non runner E39 540i factory 6 speed manual (parts or project) | Trade Me Motors

Those Studebaker Avantis may not win a beauty pagent but they sell for pretty good coin these days
-
The dog looks cute, well cuter than the 440i, the M4 does look better, but that could be because the number plate breaks the grills. Back when the E60 came out a lot of people hated it, but it's actually aged rather well, better than most others from that era.

GM transmission adventures - sharing the experience
Kiwi_BMW replied to gojozoom's topic in General Discussion
Glad you got it sorted, but September to March seems a fairly long time to have this done, what was the hold-up? BTW for those using shudder fix, it is a zinc additive, which eventually fails to work as the actual problem eventually gets that bad shudder fix becomes ineffective. Usually by that stage the only fix is to rebuild the transmission. -
Consumer obviously hasn't had any repairs to pay for.........probably drive around in vehicle covered by dealer warranty.

There is adjustment on the cables up by the handbrake lever, did you loosen them off BEFORE adjusting the shoes? If not go back and loosen them off then adjust the handbrake shoes and finally adjust the cables.

How about the E39 chasing Eleanor in Gone in 60 Seconds

When I look at those with under 50,000km on the clock I wouldn't call them too overpriced, (slightly overpriced yes) not like the E36, E39 schnitzer and the others listed above. More likely those two are just in the wrong place to sell.
