living near quarries who constantly cover the road in wet muck so after washing your car it is dirty again within a few km

No worries. Just thought that a neurosurgeon's perspective (in contrast to an eye doc's viewpoint) might shed some light (pun intended) on the potential flow on effects lasik can have in terms of dopamine, DHA, the suprachiasmatic nucleus and endocrine systems etc. IOW, things that have unintended consequences if looking at the eye in terms of eyesight only which can be a myopic perspective (sorry couldn't help it). I hope your research enables you to know what all that means. Genuinely hope it goes well for you. Have a great holiday. <<<waiting for the next rant post to be about know it alls

I use a DTI to check run out on new rotors. They should be good enough but sometimes rotating them a bit on the hub gets them even better.

People being advised to undergo surgery when the surgeons dont really have a clue what the issue is ^^^^^^ You might've dodged a bullet there Paul . . . sent you a link.

NICE!!! I must have missed that one on trademe. Got moe details? km? NZ new or import? Service history? The main thing that scares me with those engines is the timing chain guides.
-
If you do get them skimmed - check if their skimming equipment does concentric cuts or spiral cuts. My bake guy has a $9k machine that does concentric cuts by stepping between diameters rather than the spiral you'd get on a lathe type machine - better bedding in apparently. BTW, does anyone know what the minimum thickness spec is?

A little change of line to dip a couple of wheels in the stones often fixes tailgaters.

My mate did that to me on the luge in Rotovegas

Was that the one that said the M2 is actually the new M3, since 3 series have gotten bigger and the M2 captured the spirit of the M3s of old more?

So only the e46 are affected in NZ?

Arrival of the mechanically challenged
BlackAngel replied to GIantic010's topic in New Member Introductions
Sounds likely - I got both the 520 (15") and the 530 (235r17" on the front) aligned at the same time. The 520 IMO has a much lighter steering feel and never ever tramlines or bumpsteers while the 530 feels heavier in the hands and sill has the odd tendency to follow road contours - though not nearly as bad as before. -

Our e39 530i MS also used to dart and tramline a bit until we got a proper wheel alignment, at a dealership, with the specified weights added to the car. Drives much better now. Also if there is something worn that will affect your steering they should spot it during the alignment process. Cost $125 - cheap compared to the cost of the tires. -
But when you are holding a powerslide and the engine starts bogging down, can you disengage the clutch, let the engine revs build some angular momentum and then sidestep the clutch to keep the wheels spinning? No? sad . . . Can you hold 3,4 or 5000rpm and then engage and lay rubber? No? sad . . . . Unless you maybe have that burnout mode they put in some of the later ones There's what is technically a manual and then there's what can REALLY be done with an actual clutch pedal . . . .

For a start - the km are showing 142000 on the cluster not the 134000 in the ad

Nice at that start price. Wish they had bigger pics though.

Why do you want a sunroof? Just curious as I find them pretty useless for anything and a potential source of water ingress

Had another quick look at this today. Didn't drive it but started it up and gave it a once over. Someone has fitted staggered tires to it - 205 in front and 225 at the back - and the back ones dont match. Car looks straight enough - one scuff to front left corner, engine bay very clean and engine has no odd noises. Took oil cap off valve cover and it stumbled/almost stalled so appears gaskets are tight and pcv system all working properly. All pixels working and air-con working good - some dim lighting on the lower right of the instrument cluster. All self test lights (abs/airbag/engine) appearing to do what they should. Interior is blue - manual seats - but no obvious defects. They are still trying for the $4990 price tag even though I found a windscreen card in the back with $3990 on it - claiming that was a mistake. . . . . Somewhere between 3k and 4k I'm interested under 4k I might test drive - 3k Id probably buy it I think.

BMW 740i 4.4L V8 Bilstein Sport 1996

Best exhaust I ever had was on a 400chev. 4 into 1 headers into twin pipes, then 2 short coby's, then balance pipe, then 2 long coby's and finally dumping just in front of the rear wheels. Best sounding car ever. -
One of the reasons I try to avoid buying cars with sunroofs

Spied this over the fence after hours last night on way to Iron Maiden concert and it had a price in the windscreen of $3990.

? Asking price: $4,990 Those are standard seats, not comforts. The comforts have the 2 piece backrests. Ok my ignorance on the seats. My 520 has the leather - could swap them in It's fairly bare bones, though at least they sprung for the high OBC and climate air. My 520 doesnt have high OBC My 525i manual is much better specced, but I seriously doubt I'd get anywhere near $6K for it anymore How much you want for it? It would really depend what he'd ttrade my 520 for - and if not, how far he'll come down on price. Got a line on some 17"rims/tyres for it for a hundy too. What do you reckon it's worth? <<<<really missing having a manual even been looking at rs200 Altezzas
