  1. Just wondering where you got this and for how much? Have just had a bumper repair done and they had trouble because it has been plastic welded too many times so might be looking for a replacement some time in the future
  2. Had one of these for a courtesy car while the e39 530i MS was getting a bumper repair - was much rougher than this one though.Nice car but I'd still rather have an e39 for the money

    e39 525i

What year is it? Sorry if i missed that somewhere.
  4. Crashed my P10 T4 backwards into a tirewall at 80km/h at the old Taupo track. Crumpled left rear corner and shears lower arm bolt on left rear suspension - twisted roof. No glass broken. Laid the front seat backs flat (had a passenger). No injuries aside from a little whiplash and drove car back to the pits, ouit to the carpark and onto a trailer. Aint no concrete bridge but I was impressed with how it stod up.
  5. Got an E34 540i the same color as a courtesy car while the E39 is in the paint shop. Having fun with it
  6. E39 540i Touring manual with a Bimmersport sticker on it at the Devon Hotel New Plymouth Saturday afternoon. Is that the one that has been for sale on here?
  7. Just did all four rotors and pads in my e39 520i for about $350 from Extreme Autoparts. Had a brake shudder that I've been living with for awhile now. VTNZ never noticed it coz they test on rolling road but dealership failed it on a warrant after road test along with front tension arm bushes and rear brake hoses. Replaced front tension arms - shudder reduced but still there. Replaced rear rotors and pads (since steering didnt seem affected much) - shudder still there Replaced front rotors and pads - smooth as silk now. I dont think there was anything wrong with the front rotors apart from maybe some disk thickness variation of pad deposits. Certainly nothing you could see with the naked eye - verniers didnt really show any variation either but . . . . . . You can muck about with skimming/sanding etc but the hotspots created by DTV can change the metallurgy of the discs locally and the problem can re-appear a little down the track. Anyway, by the time I had replaced both front arms, both rear brake hoses, all rotors and pads, bought 2 cans of BMW brake fluid for bleeding and a wedge/fork type ball-joint separator tool (which doesnt work on the e39 btw due to contacting the hub before separating the joint, ended up using the double hammer method) - I had spent just short of $800 in parts - all labour was my own. Pretty happy considering BMW quote was $2800 to do it all - but that also included rebuilding all the calipers. Sidenote: After doing all that the service manager asked me if anyone was looking for an '02 530i e39. Has done 238,000km, blue with motorsport bodykit and wheels. He is 2nd owner and has had it last 15 years so probably serviced up to the eyeballs with genuine parts. He's looking for around 2.5k for it. Bought his wife an X1 and he gets a company car so not being used . . . . message me if you want his contact details.
  8. Wow - Engine must have been recently cleaned when I saw it. FWIW, cooling system doesn't scare me on these earlier E39 engines, my 97 has been overheated several times . . . . badly . . . . replaced radiator, thermostat and housing and its still singing 30,000 km later. Maybe you might like this one then . . . . http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1177654453.htm
  9. Doesnt it just show like that sometimes when autobid is used?

  11. and now its dropped anotheer $500 to 3500 . . . getting there http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1096794552.htm
  12. Wheel alignments are definitely one of them - especially for the e39. Both ours were different cars afterwards. That's a good price - I was happy to pay the regular $125 for ours - cheaper than a prematurely worn tire.

  14. She . . . and must have fooled the police and the people she caught that are getting done for trespassing too I guess.
  15. We have a security guard at work trying to capture the pokemon purely to stop others from trying to get in here to find them - after some people were found on site doing just that.
  16. I have an Anyltime Link plugged into my e39 factory unit - it plugs in where the stacker would normally plug in - so its either one or the other I'm afraid.
  17. Good color too - much easier to look after than a black one
  18. Two most dangerous words you will ever hear in aviation (and horses . . . and cars . . . . probably just about anything) . . . "Watch this!!"
  19. Nice car. I have a work-mate who has one for a daily driver who keeps his very well maintained. Problems he has had include replacing water cooled alternator and fuel tank transfer pump.
  20. Telling your dickhead thorobred horse to calm the @#$% down, coz the mares next door can survive just fine without him - then watching helplessly as he tries to jump a steel gate and fails. $$$$$$$$$ Veterinarian after hours callout and ongoing followup treatments $$$$$$$$$ Q. How do you make a small fortune in horses? A. Start with a big one.
  21. living near quarries who constantly cover the road in wet muck so after washing your car it is dirty again within a few km
  22. No worries. Just thought that a neurosurgeon's perspective (in contrast to an eye doc's viewpoint) might shed some light (pun intended) on the potential flow on effects lasik can have in terms of dopamine, DHA, the suprachiasmatic nucleus and endocrine systems etc. IOW, things that have unintended consequences if looking at the eye in terms of eyesight only which can be a myopic perspective (sorry couldn't help it). I hope your research enables you to know what all that means. Genuinely hope it goes well for you. Have a great holiday. <<<waiting for the next rant post to be about know it alls
  23. I use a DTI to check run out on new rotors. They should be good enough but sometimes rotating them a bit on the hub gets them even better.
  24. People being advised to undergo surgery when the surgeons dont really have a clue what the issue is ^^^^^^ You might've dodged a bullet there Paul . . . sent you a link.
