  1. I've often thought Dave that shooting from the hip, as you tend to do, displays a certain arrogant ignorance. Your post above removes any doubt.
  2. Sometimes I wish some of you more frequent posters would take your blinkers off before giving the keyboard a good savaging. US equals 330 million people. Huge place, I know you lived there Driftit. Surely an adequate enough market in terms of size alone. The US car enthusiast don't give a stuff about the rest of the world, or my or your opinions. Irrespective of it was a charity event or not, it was an active auction with multiple bidders for the cars. The car on BAT at the moment will probably go RNM, but well into 6 figures, one sold last year for 66k, and in 2018 another for 154 RNM. Go figure. The car on offer now is one owner 60k odd miles. If my wallet allowed I'd be going for it.
  3. What can I say in response here? Stupid asking price? I disagree, lets leave it at that. The time is coming when this car will be giving good value for money. Correct me if mistaken, one should buy on condition and history, (both are excellent) and considering the age of the vehicle, mileage is really irrelevant.
  4. Interesting discussion. The market spoke on the US lightweight cars, and there were plenty of bidders, so that's where they are in Jan 2020, keenly sought after. And its not like they were isolated sales, normally so many of the same thing on the market at the same time would lead to a slump in hammer price, especially near the end of the item lots, but not so with these vehicles. So obviously of more interest than your ordinary common garden variety 3 or 3.2 litre E36 M3. Remember this chassis was chassis of the decade (1990's) in the US, and has a strong following there. As to the pros and cons of handling and performance, from behind the wheel I doubt if any of us could differentiate between any of the models being discussed using the "seat of the pants" method. Have driven two of the Aus Frank Gardner built cars, no 15 and more recently Nov 18, no 11. Would own one in a heartbeat, if the wallet allowed.
  5. Have you seen it? And the market is telling you what the LTW cars are worth, why don't you listen and observe before hitting the keyboard?
  6. You keyboard warriors are missing the point about the LTW cars. Factory build race cars, quite a different kettle of fish from the basic S50 or US spec S52 M3. The US spec S50 series engines whilst producing less HP, do produce far more torque, and HP all the way up to the 7800 rev limit, and have superior suspension, bigger brakes et al. And pushing less weight, better interior, no a/c or sunroof (althought a couple had the roof) And as for the constant risible comments about the white M3 with the flags and hi riser wing, its a pretty mint car and goes like stink. Alpine white, germany's racing colours. How often have you seen a white E36M3? The price is negotiable, instead of bagging the car (and owner) if your in the market for such a car, go and see it, then make educated comments. The techno violet convertible sold a couple of weeks ago for relatively strong money too, willing buyer seller scenario, what's more there is a bit of value left in the car for the purchaser as well, so win win. NB:No affiliation with either of these cars
  7. Almost 12 months to sell, a great investment car............
  8. Try EuroCare at 65 McAlpine Street Wigram. Tel:03 341 6678. eurocare.co.nz
  9. Sounds reasonable. What happened to your original wheel?
  10. I'm unsure why BMW Car Club NZ would have copyright issues, with what you are proposing. Surely this could be a sub-branch of the Australian parent, if it became a problem for BMWCC NZ . Good on you Alex for trying to make something happen, and don't take it to heart too much if the vociferous armchair critics start slinging their lunch boxes all around the garage.
  11. About $US3200 a set new. These are nearly new and run true. Just looking to get out of them for what they owe. Thanks for reading.
  12. In a moment of weakness we bought a set of these BBS RG-R wheels off a bloke in Osaka. Being on a budget we shipped them down on the slow boat and they arrived a couple of weeks ago. It took too long for us and we have moved the car on for which they were intended SPECS 18x8.5 ET 38 18x10 ET 25 Centre Bore : 72.6 Stud Pattern 5x120 BMW The RG-R rim is renowned for the forged construction and the relative lightness of the wheel less than 10kg as I recall. Plus of course just a handsome wheel. Colour silver with BBS centre caps. We have refurbed them as there were a couple of marks on two rims . So they a minty set of rims in Christchurch. Still in the boxes they arrived in. FOR SALE $2200.FOB and can deliver to MainFreight although they are more courier sized. Queries PM me, thanks for reading.
  13. EBay is your friend for this sort of stuff, ebay uk in particular
  14. Hardly RARE only 17000 plus E30 M3's built, know its one of the last but hello RHD conversions takes away from the "as god intended, LHD" And as for history don't get me started here......collectability well that's seems to be only in the eye of the seller and good luck with that. Not possibly but definitely more bang for the buck cars available especially at the moment as previously mentioned there is a glut-more sellers than buyers here in NZ. And this car was touted about three or so weeks ago as being sold and for a lot less than $130k
  15. a little below the "ASKING PRICE" in the international market -there is a glut of these for sale, and a lot of them are sale proof- unrealistic vendors not moving to meet the market. At the asking price you could buy several cars that would satisfy the most ardent enthusiast amongst us and still have several thousand dollars left in your wallet!
