Please pm me if you have one for sale I'm open to other exhaust options for 130i

I've seen one that had a full engine rebuild selling for less than 10k. I was seriously considering buying N18 R56 but it sounded like all the costly failures are a matter of when, not if.

I don't own one but I've been following an i3 owner on Instagram, and he's car had a failed motor control unit or something. The repair bill was more than what the car's worth so he decided to scrap the car. It happened at 80,000km or so. I've also heard some horror stories about how the AC unit can fail and inject debris into the entire refrigerant line, which will eventually need to be fully stripped and replaced. They are pretty cool cars but I wouldn't own one without any mechanical warranty.. just my 2c.

That's exactly what I've been through a few weeks ago. Had to pay about 400 for gst, duty and processing fee on a package that costed 1400. Caught me off guard. I would've seriously considered SMF conversion if I knew this earlier...

BMW Performance gear knob for 6 speed manual transmission. OEM replacement manufactured by SKV Poland/Germany. Was test fitted to verify fit. I've checked that it's the same weight as the genuine one. BMW part number ref 25110429269 $85 ONO

Have you tried pick-a-part? Several 1 series BMWs are there. No 130is though. This company is parting 130i: 2011 BMW 130i PARTS ONLY https://www.trademe.co.nz/4757461906

Is that a factory spoiler? Looks good
-
Is that the black one with front lip, rear spoiler, air intake and quad exhaust and tinted rear lights? 🤣
-
Nice! Where did you get yours from?

Welcome to the forum! 135i is an awesome car

I saw this listing you may be interested in: BMW E46 Compact AC Schnitzer Exhaust https://www.trademe.co.nz/4739981637

Thanks guys, my car's only done 130k so I'm guessing the flywheel is in reasonable condition. However, it looks like there is no stock of 130i DMF in NZ so I think I might just order it, just in case DMF happens to be worn. If the flywheel is in good condition, I will just put the flywheel up for sale.

To all manual 130i owners: do you hear a slight rattle for 1 second when you turn off the engine? Just like when you try to take off in first gear with not enough throttle? I have spoken to a few mechanics and some people say it's a sign of dual mass flywheel failing but some are saying it's normal?
-
Thanks! I didn't think of those. For the flex disc, do you know if the rear one has to come out as well during clutch install? or is it only the front one?
-
Looks like it. Got a quote from BMW for the transmission mounting bolts: $40.16 + gst. With 3 weeks lead time. Not too bad.
-
Thanks! I think I might also need 23000392607 transmission mounting bolts. I'm not sure if I also need M8 bolts for installing pressure plate onto the flywheel (21207548052) though.

I've narrowed down my clutch & flywheel choice to these: LUK 415 0389 10: Dual Mass Flywheel + pilot bearing LUK 624 3288 00: Clutch Pressure Plate + Clutch Disc + Clutch release bearing + release fork Do you guys reckon I'm missing something? (bolts?) or is there anything worth getting it replaced while the transmission is out? I'm waiting for P&S Auto for a quote for the labour.

What happened??

I did read about that. The SMF conversion kit is indeed significantly cheaper than DMF+clutch. However, it is my DD so I'm not sure how I'll find the SMF for daily commuting. Then again, I used to drive manual japanese cars like ek9, zc31s, and 350z so maybe it not going to be too bad.. 🤔

Looks like there are 4 dealers in Auckland including EuroSurgeon and Euro Lab. I guess you can pay them to do it for you.
-
It's very noticeable. It feels like a normal manual gearbox now.
-
I ended up paying P&S Auto $380 which included brake fluid flush. Not cheap but happy to get it done while the car was in for OFHG change.

My clutch is starting to slip so I'm looking to order a kit from Spareto. The search gave me a few different part numbers: SACHS 3000 951 906 (161.62 EURO) VALEO 826738 (216.30 EURO) LUK 624 3288 00 (111.23 EURO) VALEO 828533 (254.94 EURO) I'm struggling to see why the prices are so different.. what clutch kits did you guys buy for replacement? My car has done 130k and I'm not sure whether I need to order a flywheel as well. I'll be ordering brake discs and pads as well but I see that there are 338mm discs and 330mm discs. Is 330mm the right size? Thanks in advance for any help

Have a chat with @HELLBM they do drive-in drive-out manual conversion. KiwiCarLife dude recently used them for his E46 M3 manual conversion.

That's what he said on his Instagram. He's going to put up a video about that.
