  1. Previous gen is quite nice and getting more affordable, this is a little heavy and Toyota-colab looking, not that my opinion matters as I can’t afford one!

Im sure it will look very purposeful in the flesh.

$2000 shipped… but yeah probably not to NZ!

To be honest re-trimmed full leather interior at US$2000 is pretty good buying. Try to find a set of seats and panels plus to get re-trimmed I would suggest you would be looking at well north of that price.

There is still some good buying to be had on some E30 stuff overseas, if it’s something that is easy to ship.

Excellent value, even though I bet those are DIY retrimmed with the L-Seat premade leather covers.

Meanwhile in NZ, a set of ragged out front sport seats is easily $1500 plus and I spent over $5k on my retrim (although that was with near unobtanium OEM fabric / seat shocks / frame welding and custom door cards).

  3. Did a self driving wine tour in Tuscany today driving a Bright Green Bambina ‘Cinquecento’.

Absolute blast and felt like an genuine antique compared to the E30.

No gauges aside the speedometer whatsoever, first is good to around 20kmh, 2nd maxes out at 40kmh but then drops you way out of the 3rd gear ‘powerband’.

Still a hoot though and managed to avoid stalling at all 💪🏽

Only in Italy will they hire you a car then ply you with wine 🤣

God I hate my Apple TV. The hardware and OS is generally good, but its limited by the apps which are kinda half cooked.

Cant wait to replace my tv and bin the apple shite.

Seems good to me? I only use Apple TV / Netflix / Neon (yuck) and YouTube really.

I should try the built in Android apps sometime.

Almost any TV that has USB 3.x can benefit from this, the exception being the few that support Gb/s speeds out of the box. Nothing wrong with LG (their parent company makes all the panels after all), but Sony's XR generation hardware and software are objectively better than the alternatives at this time. The adaptor just needs to suit what you're plugging it in to, must be USB 3, either USB-A or USB-C connector, that doesn't matter.

@Sammo - If you don't like the standard Google TV home/apps/suggestions/ads screen and need to know how to change it, let me know.

Sorry to be blasphemous but I run everything via my Apple TV 4K 😬 have since day one.

Must try the native apps sometime as I understand the quality, especially upscaling, is great (Apple TV is very good too of course).

Ooft yes, the Onkyo fanboi force is strong, I love(d) mine... currently Denon are edging on specs though. Perhaps I should wait? I'm getting by, and am very impressed, with my new Sony 4K OLED that uses the screen itself as speakers... that's some pretty impressive tech, the bass is astonishing. But no 5.1 so my speakers are sitting idle.

Very nice - is that the A90J?

Got an A80J earlier this year and absolutely love it - has an older but grunty Onkyo TX-RZ800 and Image speakers to keep it company.

  7. Been a bit busy with renovations lately so car has not had a lot of attention although will be taking it to the Meguiars meet on Sunday.

After having my clutch hydraulics replaced it’s driving ‘fine’ but get a little vibration when changing gear so likely I did do a little additional damage (to flywheel??) when I broke down…

Have also decided it’s too damn low so will be on hunt for some more moderate lowering springs, ideally with a little more spring rate too - H&R sports?

Anyway, will be off to Europe for 5 weeks next week, so the never ending to-do list will have to wait a while!!

  8. Problem I guess with any reasonably desirable 20 plus year old car that was once cheap and in bits and now potentially expensive.

Very easy for the seller (knowingly or unknowingly) just passing the buck and saying ‘Dunno seems good to me’ or previous owner said xxxxx.

No ‘salvage title’ type of record here?

The ‘rebodied’ 318i/M325i auction closes tonight I think - interesting if the top bidder goes through with it given everyone can see all the unanswered questions.

If that has indeed been plate and tagged, that is quite naughty.

Yeah, was for sale a year ago and got pulled. Screenshots in the September part of this thread.

If the correct vin is hiding under the swapped one I guess it could be re-registered / certed / complied?

Although assume the correct vin is long dead?

Not sure how that all works TBH but looks like at least one bidder is pissed off.
