If that has indeed been plate and tagged, that is quite naughty.

Yeah, was for sale a year ago and got pulled. Screenshots in the September part of this thread.

If the correct vin is hiding under the swapped one I guess it could be re-registered / certed / complied?

Although assume the correct vin is long dead?

Not sure how that all works TBH but looks like at least one bidder is pissed off.

It will be an interesting one to watch...

    I'm picking the Q & A section will get a hammering :)

I notice in the engine bay pic the VIN on the windscreen seems to match the last 4 digits of the VIN advertised on Carjam.

I think so, guy is being *reasonably*  transparent about it and a dollar reserve is probably correct way to go with a car like this.

  3. I see its already hit $20k as well.

I presume legally it should be registered as the new chassis with the running gear and swapped over from the dead M325i (although sounds like it is/was a stroker which may or may not be from the original car) with cert for the modifications.

I guess he actual chassis vin tag is long gone though.

Bit of a funny one, still an awesome car but if the auction goes north of $30k or so owner may be expecting something a little more legit.

I found the Karcher snow foam bottle thing a bit faff. Doesn't make the foam nearly thick enough to do its job, way too watery and the foam runs straight off. A proper foam lance would definitely make a difference but a good one is something like $150+ compared to $40-50 for the Karcher...

Possibly, I thought it seemed thick enough.

Just an extra step at end of the day I don’t need - E30 is washed probably 2-3 times a month and is covered in Carpro Hydro2 at all times.

    It doesn't do its job?

I just find it’s quite a bit of faffing around for a car gets kept clean in general (E30).

And then when I used it on the absolutely filthy white F31 it’s didn’t really do enough to bother setting up the power washer etc.

Will stick to simple two bucket wash.

  6. And as a general update, car has been great - seems to have settled in at 6.5L/100km for our mixed (mainly urban and motorway) driving.

Reckon it could do 1000 a tank on a run comfortably though.

Got some ‘whiter’ fog light bulbs to install to better match headlights and still need to get around to doing some Bimmercode coding but need to temporarily disable the carplay module first (ugh).

I drive my E30 75% of the time but it certainly makes this thing seem like a Rolls Royce!

    Throwout bearing?

Possibly, will hopefully know this afternoon - if not hydraulic (wishful thinking perhaps) Mechanics first thought was maybe clutch fork.

Gut feel is I'll be preparing a for a fair few 'while you're in there' things :)

Damn. Hopefully its just a hydraulic issue.

Sounds like you your ''cruise' was a bit more lively compared to ours. * Insert 4th gear <3000rpm economy cruise.

Fingers crossed, just seems it won’t disengage.

It was a nice steady pace, nothing silly but did manage to wind it out a few times (joys of low power)

Will definitely revisit this road in drier conditions.

Damn was wondering why you didn't make the meet. Do you know what failed?

Yesterday i was thinking about your new seat and was going to ask you for a sit in it. For some reason thought about a member who's E30 throttle cable snapped in the Huntly around that same spot going back to Auckland. So may of jinxed you there sorry.

I was having good fun following a G80 M3 - car was driving fantastic but I miss timed a shift around redline / just after the limiter and couldn’t change gear…

Seems clutch pedal does nothing - fluid reservoir  looked fine.

Car could take off (lurch off with ignition) in 1st and ease into 2nd and 3rd which got me the last 20km or so to Huntly then got a pricey tow to my mechanic…

    Will find out tomorrow!
